+Mr Amingo Flea is recognized as one of, if not THE, best bass player in the world. Frusciante is a lot more underrated in my experience. Who gives props to the guitar in Primus music? It's great also, but it is hard to share a stage with Les Claypool and get much of the spotlight on you. Frusciante deserves every bit of praise and recognition he could ever get.
@@Gekokujo76 not me! i love bass.. when i talk about bassguitar i figure a pasta without any sausage… even if that solo live i don't like, original version is better
John is possibly the greatest guitarist revealed in the late 80's-90's. Maybe even the best guitarist of this generation. I love you John, good luck on your second post-Peppers era, hope we all will see you once again with Chad, Anthony and Flea. ♥
I love them during this period in their music careers, this is a beautifully tragic song. I've fallowed the band for years and nobody compares to John's intensity. Though I'm excited for their album, its not the same without him.
This song was was rarely played. And John always does spontaneous solos. He's just too good to play the studio version over and over. Maybe you'd like one of the other 50 versions.
I've followed the evolution of John and the band since 89. What a joy to see Frusciante become the artist he is. IMHO, the Californication Tour is when the RHCP were one bad-ass band. Sure the song writing evolved and John went to another planet with his guitar and vocals. This is my favorite period.
This is one of the most moving performances I have ever seen. Everything about it is just so raw and profound. Can't believe Anthony wrote this for Sineád O'Connor !! :O
funny isnt it how once you experience what the song is about, it all suddenly makes sense to you. It clicks into place and you have that connection with the words and the sorrow behind the music... :')
best lyrics anthony has written. Brilliant. and the guitar and bass jf and flea laid over them. PERFECT. just amazing. and this is possible my fav solo of johns for this song. Flea bringing that bass in at 1.00 wow. greatest musicians of my generation.
You know, it's hard to say for sure because there are so many great ones, but this solo 3:30 from start to finish has got to be my favorite JF solo ever. This one goes perfect with what's in my head. And Flea's work playing off John and Chad is absolutely perfect
Guys RHCP. I have watched & listened from the 1st time I saw them live in Qld Australia Gold Coast, At the Playroom a small Pub/Band Venue, in 1987 I was 15, I remember seeing the sign up saying "Red Hot Chillipepers " I thought what's that - Some crap is guess, but We would go because it was our place, Wow what a Trip (literally) & Musical performance. They were still in there full Punk funk madness - Addicted since - However I too believe Fracianties classic Strat, bent too its limits, played hard or Sublime - Is the most Honest & unique to such a torn soul cannot be Judged on technich - He is the sound, the sound is Him. A true song writing guitar Artist. And of course Flea is Perfection and Without Chad driving that Bus well, that's why there called a Band, absolute complementation all Stars, Bless Halal but he never Could Punch like Chad. I love all of You who love the lyrics and feel of RHCP. Because if You relate to those words and Groove - I guess we've been down some tough road's together Peace ✌ Love & No lies.
yea brother, that funk soul is so unique and beautiful that we can truly see his soul in his music. Your story is so cool, must have been an wonderful and funky performance
Jimmie Jame, I saw them on tv around 85 or 86. They had on those marching band hat, you know, the tall ones that look furry? I was like wtf? Needless to say I've been a fan ever since, but more than just a fan. You know what I mean. They're in my heart. My 8 yr old son loves them as I do now, and we are going to our first ever RHCP concert in January! I miss John like everyone, but I miss Hillel too. We have to accept the way things are. I love all of you too. Peace and love.
wow.. great story man.. I´d love to have been there!! Still if it was 1987, it would have been probably still Hillel at the guitar right?? and prbably Jack Irons or Martinez at the drums.... Hillel could never punch like Chad.. cause he was the guitar player.. ;).. looks like the cillies weren´t the only one having a trip at that concert!! bless you man!!
it wasn't too long ago that I'd never heard this, but I was still obsessed with the red hot chili peppers, probably like 2006. Then I got really into them and listen to all of John's solo music as well. I try not to judge when people don't know, but when people say, OMG I love SNOW!!!! or Dani California, it's kind of depressing. That's when you gotta take them under your wing and show them how wonderful the music is that they're missing.
I was gobsmacked when I first heard this song on the album, right after the rollicking 'Suck my kiss' so it sounded even more incredible. This and Pordelain are sweeet, little gems x
Been a chili's fan most of my life and this is my favourite of all their songs, period. Blood Sugar was just an incredibly beautiful album. Thank god they improvise their stuff so well and play differently live, that version of the guitar solo is so beautiful, even look at the emotion on john's face, at 3:58!! This is music, and this band, this song, is what made me fall in love with music in the first place.
I could never change Just what I feel My face will never show What is not real Je ne suis pas capable d'être différente, autre chose que cette déception que je suis.
Almost every song on BSSM is awesome. Frusciante so talented so young. Hard to believe that they are together again and making such amazing music. So weird it's been over 30 years ago I started loving RHCP
New album released this Summer. August 30th. I Wish John was still with the band. Either way I am sure it will still be an excellent album. Like all the previous albums Rick Rubin has produced with them. RHCP Rules.
They are really a GROUP, so that they face each other to increase the connection; if you were musician, you could undestand it. The most important thing in a GROUP is to play together, and they can afford it facing each other.
@ksalat09 I know. I saw that on facebook the other day. I already marked my calendar. The RHCP are my favorite band of all time. I wish John Frusciante was still playing with them though.
@riverwood95 Yes, improvisation is a great thing. There are ways to improvise, and keep the original feel of the solo. David Gilmour does it all of the time. Seeing that you think all of Fruciante's solos are "fucking great", wouldn't you like to hear him perform the solo from the album? I recently learned the solo and I wanted to see him play it live. I watched 4 different videos and he did not play it in any of them. He is one of my favorite guitarists, a very emotional player.
hell yeah there is, its my favorite book all time. in very surprising and honest detail anthony talks about his childhood acting, his dad, being a hooligan in la (he was homeless for a while, he was borrowing his gf's car to get loaded on drugs and then somehow bullshit enough energy to do a show that night)...and another time he got sick from trekking through the jungle, plus a bunch of other details about the inter-relationships of the band, and how the man thinks in general. its fascinating.
As with every live solo John does with maybe the exception of Universally Speaking(which sometimes he adds little variants to it) John always thrives on his improvisation, that's why live there's always something to look forward to.
This is probably the most underrated song ever.
Well, it's consistently rated as one of the RHCP 5 best non-singles, not too bad.
Why?
because it is a good fucking song. why not?
it is their best song
alongside with This Velvet Glove
Everyone talking about the guitar solo but no one notices the awesome bass fills during the solo and outro...Flea is awesome
+Mr Amingo Flea is recognized as one of, if not THE, best bass player in the world. Frusciante is a lot more underrated in my experience. Who gives props to the guitar in Primus music? Oh definitely notice XD
Mr Amingo the subtle nuances of true genius. One of the greatest musicians still with us.

Flea is, how can I say? FODA! (Use translate)...
i love johns solo here, so simple yet every sustained note has so much feeling behind it
My favourite Chili song....
mee too :D
Heavy shit. John is amazing.
Dan Pearce i have a new faverate evey week
Me too \o/
Yup, definitely
John solo so touching , those sustained sound blown my mind

This aged well
It just happened. Life is incredible
Not a big Chili Peppers fan…
But this song is top 10 for me.
Absolute masterclass.
What a band.
I love the tone of John's guitar on this tour
I love them during this period in their music careers, this is a beautifully tragic song. I've fallowed the band for years and nobody compares to John's intensity. Though I'm excited for their album, its not the same without him.
1:00 Fleas Fill, just awesome :)
+Kobelinho oh yeah !
love the screaming guitar solo
Me too man, I thought it sounded sick!!!!!! It went with the song too!!!!
This was a great concert, performance levels are at an all time high. Wish I was there!
This song gives me the feels every time I listen and this version is raw and beutiful.
this is such an amazing and unappreciated track.. love it
I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I listened to this solo.
I've never had so many goosebumps listening to music.
Not even in my life!
i could feel johns emotion through that solo. powerful
This song was was rarely played. And John always does spontaneous solos. He's just too good to play the studio version over and over. Maybe you'd like one of the other 50 versions.
0:59 seconds, Flea's subtleties blew my mind
my favorite love song with simple short lyrics
and this is my favorite live version, they have great style on the stage
Wow, how have I never heard this version? The suddle changes are simply astounding!
subtle*
This song has inspired me to read Scar Tissue again, a great book for any RHCP fan!
the solo in this is incredible.....no other words can explain...

God I love their look so much during this era ;)
that song...''hurts'' ! (is the only word that i can explain what im feeling when i listen to this song...)
funny isnt it how once you experience what the song is about, it all suddenly makes sense to you. It clicks into place and you have that connection with the words and the sorrow behind the music... :')
john's solo is easily one of the most emotional i've ever heard
This is one of my favourite songs on Blood Suger, and on an album that amazing, that's saying something !!
lyrical genius.... beautiful....
Always loved this song. My homies and I played this tape constantly when shooting hoops outside. Brings me back there. Thx

A hidden wee gem of a song that shows the band's diversity - great lyrics, mohawks and kick ass rifts! 👌
what a solo..oh man...almost too much for me to handle. John...you are amazing
When I heard John was back. This is the first song I thought about. Nobody can play it better then the man himself
Love this song and album. Thank God for music.
hooo john ...i love you day by day.. riff by riff...
El mejor vivo de este tema
3:06 those harmonies played by john make me shiver :) gods of rock

"She struck me so I'm fucked up noooowwww." I love it, great performance too!!!!
WOW!! i dont even have the words for how good this song is...orgasmic barely touches it
So wonderful! Can't explain what it is about this kind of riffs. But it always takes me to another place...
2019 and I STILL LOVE THIS SONG WITH ALL MY HEART

great solos by John Frusciante, the best!! WE ALL LOVE YOU FRUSCIANTE
