  • When working over grill or barbeque, use appropriate size utensils such as longer tongs and spatulas.
    Do not store liquid items near deep fat fryers.
    Warn serving staff when plates are hot.
    When lighting pilot lights -- make sure gas is off first, ignite lighter then turn gas on -- then bring flame to element.
    Use extreme caution when handling items that contain a lot of hot fat (bacon fat on baking sheet). When transporting, ensure your path is clear and pan is held at waist level.
    Follow proper procedure when changing deep fat fryer oil ( see section below on changing Deep fryer).
    When transporting containers of hot liquids, they should never be more than half full.
    Never store paper or plastic items ( eg. Portion cups) near cooking area.

    are you allow to use an oven mitts when carrying hot pots and pans? I don't really like using towels because Im afraid to burn my fingers
