Hello everyone, I'm back! :) Welcome to the first of the new Cosy Creative Sessions. These long form videos are a place for you to unwind, relax, have some quiet company, and calmly create art in your sketchbook. In this one, I'll give you four prompts if you choose to work along with me, but these videos are also perfect to put on in the background while you work on your own projects. As an artist who works from home, I know just how nice it is to have company sometimes and feel a little less alone. I hope that we can grow the Cosy Creative community, and thank you for joining me!
I'm paying bills right now, but I'll be working on my floral lessons next time. I'm alone 90% of the time and this feels like a community. I need that. Thank you, Natasha.
Yes more of them please! That was a lot of fun and exactly the wind-down session I needed. I decided to doodle along with you and I’m happy with what I painted. Thanks for this, fingers crossed it does well and there will be many more ❤
What a great idea. Thank you for sharing your time. This means alot for me, as most of the time I am alone and know the feeling of being lonely. I can't have everyone around me, but I definitely enjoy your company. Greetings from Germany, Jutta
I hope you will join a group somewhere it’s so good for us to be with people ❤ I just started a watercolor party hour at my church. We met yesterday afternoon. I spent the last few months purchasing student grade brushes paint sets and paper so I provided everything. We had such a lovely afternoon and got some of those lonely bodies out of the house for an hour. We may go longer next time Lots of laughter and sharing and many quiet moments of painting too. I shared little tips I’ve learned along the way Highly recommend 💕
Yeah! I was hoping you would make a few of these. Thanks for putting in the effort for this. I was actually doing my own one of these as this posted, so now I have a sketching buddy. :D Please keep making them. I'm always trying to find content like this to listen to while I'm working.
I know exactly what you mean! I love long form, calm content to work along to. I usually have something on in the background, and I like it when I find a long video to watch/listen to and really get into. :)
Hi I loved this long chilled video. I don’t watch shorts. I am a full time carer to my 95 year old mother, who loves doing art and crafts and I find it hard to switch off and have time on my own but I made a drink and really enjoyed the calm relaxing art session. Look forward to the next one 😊
Thank you so much! I like these ASMR type quiet videos. I am an introvert and don't need the herd or a posse around me all the time.. This is pure gold. 🙂
Please make a quiet video just tinkering with your art supplies, or filling a new palette, or swatching and mixing. They won't even need comment. The background music is a trigger for a meditative state for me. Wonderful. The world is suddenly a safe and lovely place again ;-) Thank you. Just subbed because of this video :-)
Wow, Natascha this was so Nice to do. I was swatching Some paints and your cosy video brought so much test! Please go for It and make more such video’s! Hg!❤️☀️❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed spending this time with you, Natasha! 💗 It's so relaxing listening to you while watching you paint! Each one of your drawings is just lovely, and so YOU!!! I especially love your imaginary bird, and what a gorgeous colour he is. I do hope you continue these cosy sessions! Next time I might join you in painting 🙃 I will be really glad when you aren't feeling so cold in your studio, anymore - here's hoping it warms up very soon!!! Thank you and much love to you and your studio buddies 💕
Thank you, Roxanne! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it and I hope that you might decide to paint or draw with me next time (but I don't mind at all if you just decide to watch!). xxx
Although I do enjoy painting, my main medium is fabric and thread and it was lovely to have your company as I stitched and you painted. Thank you, I really enjoyed it😊
It was perfect@@NatashaNewtonArt ! I attempted to 'copy' the cover of a Rousseau book.. poorly, but it was lovely to have you working alongside as I did! Have a fab rest of your evening! 😘
Truly loved this video. Went over to my desk and played mixing colors the whole time. Actually the first time I touched my paints in weeks. Calm, no pressure-fantastic idea. I'd love to join the community.
I'm working on lineart for an oil painting while watching this ❤️ Thanks for your cozy vibes, Natasha! (on another note, I'm drooling, your colour palette is goals)
I painted a nice warm beach, clear blue green ocean water with star fish! I am a beginner artist so you can imagine how it looks! lol! I LOVE THE MUSIC! 💞💖💞
That went by so quickly! Thoroughly enjoyed this video xxx i just sat and enjoyed it but you have inspired me to get my paints out and watch all over again. More please!!!!
I’m a first year PhD student in Medieval English and Irish literature-I’ve been discouraged lately about how little time I’ve had to paint because of all the schoolwork. But I’ll be thoroughly enjoying this video while I do some research today!
I love the bird. He looks like he just made a joke and is like "eh?!" waiting for the laughs. So cute! Thank you for a cozy hour. I too drive like a granny btw.
Thank you so much for the cozy session! In the first evening I knitted and listened now second time sewing and listening. Thank you Natasha for bringing this calmness in our days!
Oh natasha this is so perfect - i presumed only the patreons would get such a lovely post so thank you so very much! It is so perfect. I was watching something else and this popped up - i had pulled out my georgia okeefe book for inspiration because i never actually paint - i watch too many hauls and i love watching you and Kriksis but i have no imagination so i thought i would practice some Georgia okeefe paintings and - there you were! So i was attempting (badly) her Peruvian Landscape - i just love the flow of watercolour but i get too many hard edges and blooms so i need to practice! I wish i could afford 100% cotton but i am determined to paint as many okeefe landscapes as i can before i dare to use cotton! I know - pulp and cotton are like chalk and cheese - but what can you do! Lovely lovely hour and a half with you today Natasha - please keep it up!
It's a huge yes from me for meditative loooong videos - this was perfect to have on in the background with just the right amount of chat, well, more of a stream of consciousness. I was working on a large chocolate labrador painting in pastel while your video was playing and the music was perfect for a state of mindfulness. It really was like working with someone else in the room! Thanks Natasha :)
I turned this on while I was painting details on a watercolor bird that I’ve been working on and it has been sooo relaxing. And then you painted a bird too😂. I hope that you will do more of this type of video 🙏 ❤
I really love seeing the process. Very inspiring and I typically do try ideas I see on tutorials. Admittedly I won’t always take the time to watch a whole hour I will skip ahead to see how your process goes. 😊
So happy you are back on UA-cam and with these new cosy painting sessions, will definitely be watching/listening in my studio, along with my cat and studio buddy Monet.I really love the Deep Deep Light palette you created,I have added others as well your colour of 'Natasha's Grey' is a lovely colour to use,,it does separate into different colours and is a great mixing colour too.P.S I'm working on creating an oracle deck and writing the book to go with it,I'm using watercolour and some accents of metallic watercolours as well to create the cards
How interesting that you're working on an Oracle deck! Aw, you and Monet are very welcome to join all of the Cosy Creative sessions, and I hope that he enjoys it too!
My goodness, I so needed this today. Calm and relaxed, listening and once in awhile looking up and just enjoy what you were working on. I enjoyed it so much and I was able to focus on what I was working on (oddly enough, today no painting on paper, but I have been working on a new design about the city I live in and I been doing it on my iPad (originally I started this as a sketch, then as a carving). Thank you, and I do hope you do this again!
Lovely video Natasha, I so enjoyed watching you paint. It’s a really good exercise to go monochrome. I think I’m going to try it. Not sure about the eerie ambient music, it made me feel uneasy so I had to turn the sound off! I loved your little bird. He’s very cheeky! Thank you ❤
Really appreciate you doing this session Natasha and would love more. Just as you said "we need more quiet in our lives" my neighbour commenced some machinery-type work. Sigh. However, I picked it up again later and did some sketches from my travel photos. Its no nice to have some company and the fact I can "tune in" (or out) at will whilst I'm working. Love your channel and the work you are doing. Well done and thank you
That was lovely and coincidentally appropriate, as I was just looking for something to leave on the background while I did one of the exercises of the online class I’m following called Finding Your Colour Voice, by Tansy Hargan. I was just painting abstract shapes using different variations of green. I completely agree that speaking all the time in videos is very tiring (I’m also an introvert), so I appreciate calmer videos like this. I filmed my latest one in silence and really enjoyed it, as I find it very difficult to paint, film and talk at the same time without losing spontaneity.
I'm glad you're back Natasha. I found your channel at the end of last year and have spent a while going back through your videos. They are so informative. I've been slowly starting to learn water colour and really enjoy the relaxing vibes. I was going to have a go at some painting today (one of your old videos for beginners swatching pebbles in some granulating watercolours) but I'm a little under the weather, so instead I've just enjoyed watching this video with a blanket and a hot water bottle (all cozy). I can't wait for the next one.
Hello and thanks for this relaxing video. I got fired last Tuesday, so I figured I'd take the next week off and launch my art business. While I was watching your video on my main monitor, I had Affinity Photo on my little monitor, and I set up a card printing template to make it easier on myself. Thanks for the chill vibes!
Hi Natasha, wow 🤩 your a star putting this together, this was beautiful I really enjoyed this long video, I didn’t do any art during this as I wanted to have my complete focus on what you were creating but I am going to try do the prompts during the week whilst my son is in school. I really love how even just using one colour from your palette you have created such wonderful art in your sketchbook. I cannot wait until you do another one of these. They were so relaxing to watch really cheered me up. Sending you lots of love xxx 🥰
Hi Natasha! This was very relaxing and peaceful and FUN! You are truly teaching me to Slow down and enjoy the process of creating prompts in my sketchbook. I don't know why I always feel like I have to rush because I really don't need to! I used red India ink with my quill pen along with watercolors in my sketchbook, and painted a red fox in the snow, with 3 birch trees around her. I saw this on a Christmas card that I saved from a year or so ago and wanted to paint it- so I did, while you were creating in this video. Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to more of your videos in the future. Your online friend, and fellow artist, Kelli.
Well that hour passed very quickly! 😀 I've set myself some prompts for March to draw British Wild Animals in coloured pencils in my small sketchbook, so while I was watching you out of the corner of my eye and listening I was drawing two mad March hares! I think that little bird is adorable btw! Lovely video and I shall look forward to future ones x
It was very fun to watch your paintings develop. I was preparing my calendars for 2025 (!!) already. I always start getting antsy around this time of year. I don't like not having a place to put dates for the new year. Sadly I just don't like keeping a digital calendar. It would be so much easier. Anyway, job done. Perhaps next time I will be able to paint along. Did you put the last two prompt titles in? 😉
Loved this, Natasha! It has taken me a while to get around to watching, but it's always worth it when I do. 😊 I used your prompts in my "daily sketch book" and my derwent watercolour pencils. This was a blissful and calming break in an otherwise busy day. Thank you❤
I just found you last night and was excited to check out your channel in more depth this morning..... your channel is lovely and I'm looking forward to exploring your Patreon as well. I found the Cosy video simply perfect! Thank you so much for creating this quiet time of gathering in the studio ❤ I look forward to more :))
Thank you so much for your lovely comments, and for checking out my Patreon too! I definitely have more plans for the Cosy Creative Sessions and for other quiet videos as well. :)
Fabulous way to spend some time with you, learning at the same time. Yes, we live in the Cotswolds, and drivers are not aware of anyone else on the roads! It drives me mad especially as on Rodborough Common near us, many cows are killed each year on the roads. They roam freely here in the summer months, and although there are signs to slow, people don’t. Anyway, thank you Natasha, loved that.
thank you Natasha, I eenjoyed this first Cosy Creatve Session. . Unable to paint just now, will later. Reviewing patient charts. A glance now and then is refreshing and inspires me for a more brief session using your prompts when I get home this evening. Will follow your suggestion of one color and one brush per prompt. Will welcome more gatherings of this sort. . Mary
Thank you Natasha for your very inspiring and relaxing video, just the thing for a Monday. I have really enjoyed painting along with you, the sun is shining and my conservatory is lovely and warm unlike the rest of the house. I even paused your video and went in the garden to paint budding daffodils. Specially enjoyed the monochromatic element. Look forward to your next video.
Hello Natasha, thank you very much for the cosy and relaxing video:). I love it! Watching you paint and listening was so nice. The first prompt inspired me a lot. I immediately thought of Porthleven in my beloved Cornwall with the waves rolling in from the sea at the church. So incredibly fantastic. I would have loved to be there now, and I painted from a photo I took from there in my sketchbook while watching you with gouache and watercolors from my last vacation in October. I enjoy the time and peace and quiet when I paint, but now and again it would be nice to have a group to paint together. Unfortunately there is no such thing near me. Your colors are beautiful. I love them. The leaves and the bird turned out beautifully with the paint. I would be very happy if you could make more longer and calmer videos:). I am currently painting a portrait in acrylics with a mixed media background on a large canvas. I'm struggeling to make everything harmonious. But every artist probably knows that:). It would be good if I wasn't so perfectionist. But there is the sketchbook where not everthing has to be perfect. Don't you have heating in your studio? I couldn't paint with such cold hands. But hopefully spring will come soon, even if it doesn't look like it in Germany right now. Have a lovely, mindful and creative week. Take care. Gabi🎨
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video and joined me in painting one of your favourite places. Porthleven is beautiful. I'd love to go back to Cornwall sometime! I will definitely make more of these videos, I enjoyed filming it so much. Have a lovely weekend, Gabi! x
Loved this video ❤ I followed along and draw/painted the prompts. Nice with several prompts in one video since it isn’t always I have an hour for painting, but I love the longer format and relaxed feeling.
Nice I only went halfway but will finish the other half later can't really manage to get an hour of time to paint. Went along a bit for the first prompt but then I started with the third one to practice some strokes so I'm actually 3/4 in :). I was not alone painting but my cats both got a bit in the way and the hair always gets on my paper and in my brushes. Hope you'll make some more of these it really helps to just pick up a sketchbook and paint a bit.
Hi Natasha, I enjoyed that very much. I'm finishing head portrait of a friend's dog who was also originally my foster dog, who we lost a few months ago. Very peaceful and relaxing listening to you and checking in with your progress as I go.
Loved just chilling out with this video as company! I worked on some warm up sketches with a simple crayon in my sketchbook. Your bird made me chuckle as well!
Love your vids Natasha your beautiful unique shapely artwork amd chilling out with you here thanks for showing the beautiful cats I have a beloved cat ❤
Hi Natasha! I absolutely love your videos!! I think I might be addicted to your channel! :) I was wondering if you would ever consider doing a video of you swatching all of your Faber-Castell Polychromos? I'm thinking about buying some, and I'm curious which ones you have and like. Thank you for taking the time to film, edit, and post these videos! You are so talented and I love your style!
I finally got a chance to sit down and do the prompts for the video (while rewatching). This was a fun little exercise to get me to try out some Faber Castell colored pencils that I was given recently. I like them better than Prismacolor because the Fabers don't melt down to nothing in just a couple of strokes. For the first two prompts I drew my horse (I always enjoy spending time at my friend's place with my mare and the herd) and a brush rest in the shape of a cat. =^_^=
@@NatashaNewtonArt It was as creative as I could get whilst being pinned to the sofa by 2 sleeping sausage dogs :D Nonetheless, what a lovely calming way to spend a Sunday evening xx
Hi Natasha. This was really lovely and I listened/ watched you whilst I worked from home with the odd intermittent play in my watercolour journal!😮 (please don't tell my boss 😂) I'm very interested (and I hope this doesn't put you on the spot) to know your honest comparisons and preferences between the Schminke Super Granulating watercolours of which I have a good selection, and the Deep Deep Light watercolours. I guess I'm trying to decide if I need to add them to my wishlist! ❤
I honestly love both - I'll always be a huge Schmincke fan, but the Deep Deep Light watercolours are (to me) magical. The colours, the way they feel when I use them - it's like you can feel the love and time that goes into them. I guess it all comes down to which colours appeal to you, and your budget, of course. DDL paints aren't cheap, but then again, neither are Schmincke's!
@NatashaNewtonArt you should definitely I mean DEFINITELY check out Fuyuko Matsui’s work. I think her palette would really inspire you and introduce you to the nihonga painting method! (Ground mineral pigments on specially prepared silk surfaces, which are I think getting popular in the UK now with choosing keeping offering nihonga pigment sets!)
Always look for your videos and I am overjoyed to watch them. This is especially relaxing, calming and informative. Would love to buy more watercolors but do I really need them... what a silly question but for now I say, no.
Thank you for making this relaxing video. After a particularly stressful week, the introvert in me decided to retreat to my study to sit down and join you in a 'decompression session' of watercolor painting. The calming background music was a welcomed touch, along with your soothing voice to listen to as I pottered away swatching and planning for an upcoming project. Hope to see more of these videos when you're able to do them. Take care friend!
I apologize if this has already been answered or answered elsewhere (a quick search didn't prove fruitful), but what metal container are you using for holding your paint pans and swatches?
You can buy it from the Deep Deep Light website. :) There's a link in the description box underneath this video - don't forget to use my special code to get 10% off your order if you do decide to treat yourself!
Lovely video! I drew along with you. I'm a med student and my studies take most of my time. Recently I've been quite stressed and overwhelmed with my workload. Today I just decided to take a moment and do something that I enjoy, which is drawing. Thank you for your company

I love it! 432 is a bonus. Lovely and fun prompts as well. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for your kind words, and I hope you feel better soon!
Wishing you all the very best!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed this type of video, Louise! It was really lovely to film and I can't wait to make more of them. Lots of love to you too!
This is so lovely to hear! Thanks for joining me, Kelli.
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it, thank you for joining me! :)
This was such a nice relaxing video I love long videos ❤
Thanks Amber, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 🧡
Just what I needed, am recovering from an op, it's like a friend has come round to keep me company. Thanks Natasha xxx
Wishing you a swift recovery, Debs! xxx
@@NatashaNewtonArt thanks hon xx
Loved this, Natasha! It has taken me a while to get around to watching, but it's always worth it when I do. 😊 I used your prompts in my "daily sketch book" and my derwent watercolour pencils. This was a blissful and calming break in an otherwise busy day. Thank you❤
You are so welcome!
I loved it! Just played around with my watercolors and different papers. Will join you the next time:)!
So sad about the cows. I don't know why people have to drive around as if they're in a computer game all the time!
I loved it! More please. Love these watercolors as well. Just when I think I don’t need anymore…😮
Love this - please do more!
thank you Natasha, I eenjoyed this first Cosy Creatve Session. . Unable to paint just now, will later. Reviewing patient charts. A glance now and then is refreshing and inspires me for a more brief session using your prompts when I get home this evening. Will follow your suggestion of one color and one brush per prompt. Will welcome more gatherings of this sort. . Mary
I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed it, Mary! :)
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Margaret!
Absolutely love it !!!!!! Thanks a million for sharing 🙂🙂🙂
Currently have this going on the tv while doing Mandala paintings. Perfect way to relax at the end of the day, thank you! 🌻
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)
This video came at the perfect time. Exactly what I needed during a stressful time
I hope that things are less stressful for you soon, Monika. 🧡
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I loved this Natasha. Yes please to more Cosy Creative sessions. I painted the mug my son made me that holds my paint brushes x
I'd love to see that, Lesley! Will you post it online anywhere? (No pressure if you don't want to!). x
Saved this for my sketchbook hour tomorrow ❤ love it!
I hope you enjoy it, Arati! 🧡
Love this!! Looking forward to the next one! 🤗
That's so nice to hear, thank you! 🧡
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's dog. How lovely that you're making a portrait.
Loved just chilling out with this video as company! I worked on some warm up sketches with a simple crayon in my sketchbook. Your bird made me chuckle as well!
Thank you for joining me!
I love this kind of videos a lot. Looking forward to the next one 😊
That mug is amazing ☺☺☺
Thanks, it's from Emma Bridgewater!
I really enjoyed this video. So calming. Thank you.
Love your vids Natasha your beautiful unique shapely artwork amd chilling out with you here thanks for showing the beautiful cats I have a beloved cat ❤
Thanks so much, Deborah! What's your cat's name? :)

What a lovely session! Very relaxing to watch. I love the effect you got with the bird by lifting some of the colour. X
I'm so glad that you enjoyed this, Sarah! x
Very excellent video...enjoyed it❤
Thank you so much!
so relaxing, make more videos. worked on swatching watercolors.
I'm loving the idea of a brush rest in the shape of a cat!
@@NatashaNewtonArt I found them on Etsy. 🙂
fun !!
Fun session. I was rendering a bit of doodling with pen and ink while you were working ❤ xx
Lovely to have you here with us, Becki! 🧡
@@NatashaNewtonArt It was as creative as I could get whilst being pinned to the sofa by 2 sleeping sausage dogs :D Nonetheless, what a lovely calming way to spend a Sunday evening xx
Ha ha! Sounds cute. :) @@PumpkinBecki
Ahhhh I loved this so much! 💜💜💜
That's lovely to hear, thank you! 🧡
Hi Natasha. This was really lovely and I listened/ watched you whilst I worked from home with the odd intermittent play in my watercolour journal!😮 (please don't tell my boss 😂)
I'm very interested (and I hope this doesn't put you on the spot) to know your honest comparisons and preferences between the Schminke Super Granulating watercolours of which I have a good selection, and the Deep Deep Light watercolours.
I will check it out! Thank you. :)
Did u look it up? Did u like it? A bit gory yes but nihonga painting is a literal treasure of materials, techniques and meditative art practice!
Always look for your videos and I am overjoyed to watch them. This is especially relaxing, calming and informative. Would love to buy more watercolors but do I really need them... what a silly question but for now I say, no.
Thank you so much, Barbara!
LOVED THIS, I’m a new subscriber and enjoyed every minute. MORE please! Thank you. ClaudiaSJI
Thanks for subscribing! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video. :)
I'm so glad that you took some time to decompress and look after yourself! Thank you for joining me. :)
I apologize if this has already been answered or answered elsewhere (a quick search didn't prove fruitful), but what metal container are you using for holding your paint pans and swatches?
It was given to me by the lovely owners of Deep Deep Light!
❤❤❤❤
Am I able to purchase Natasha's grey??? 😊
You can buy it from the Deep Deep Light website. :) There's a link in the description box underneath this video - don't forget to use my special code to get 10% off your order if you do decide to treat yourself!
@@NatashaNewtonArt Thank you!!
Lovely video! I drew along with you.
I'm a med student and my studies take most of my time. Recently I've been quite stressed and overwhelmed with my workload. Today I just decided to take a moment and do something that I enjoy, which is drawing. Thank you for your company
I'm so glad that you took a moment for yourself to enjoy making some art!
