and "Rise Against, has similar hard rock roots, punk influences, a subtle use of vocal counterpoint, a subtle use of vocal harmony and varying tempo and time signatures."
its punk rock man, its not about how good you sing it, its about what your singing and thats what i love about it, you dont have 2 be good at singing to just go out their and spread your views its freedom man, freedom.
Dedicate this song to my buddy bernard, he helped me be smarter, and get better at guitar, he now lives in the ghetto bcus his dad kicked him out of the house once he graduated, Keep on Rocking buddy
I love this band, people like to gripe about them being sort of mainstream these days, but nobody takes into consideration that it's pretty cool that we live in an age where a band like Anti-Flag could even be considered mainstream.
"Die for your government" was the one and only album I like by them...If you want something similar that blows their newer stuff away try the Explosion (from boston the singer Sam Cave was the guitar player for the Boston Street punk band the Trouble)
Its not just capitalism that needs to go down the fucking drain. Its the two party system that most free nations follow. You know your a slave to this if you ask someone, "are you Republican or Democrat?" We need more voices and more options not douchebags selling out their views so they will get sponsored by a party. Its a damn shame.
@punkerast ANARCHY noun 1. a state of society without government or law. 2. political and social disorder due to the absence of governmental control: 3. anarchism (def 1). 4. lack of obedience to an authority; insubordination: 5. confusion and disorder you can sing about anarchy and coming together. anarchy isn't about people all hating each other. If we all lived and made choices by using common sense and a sense of decency towards other humans and at the same time had no political and government figures telling us what we can and cannot do, that would still be anarchy by definition. The term is demonized by politicians and government because it could spread the idea that we don't need them. And in reality we don't.
Well said, but we dont live in a perfect world. We have way too many people who would abuse anarchy. Pillaging and rape would explode. The streets would be full of blood. If everyone was decent, your idea would work. But there are way too many assholes in this world.
Brandon Robinson Whos to say you would even be alive? Pretty sure all of the gangs would completely take over. Hells angels, "ISIS" blood, crypt, taliban... Like really. You have way too much faith in humanity. If someone drops an A bomb on your city, will you survive? Chances are you wouldnt. Unless you have money, you're going to die. You're not thinking of the pieces of shit. Regardless of good people, there will be more bad. The only way to survive would be to either hide, or get into a gang. This world would literally burn to the ground. Its nice that you still have faith that good people would have order, but it doesnt work that way. You'll find as you get older, youll see the world in its true light. We could never live like this. Its been done before and almost killed off a race. Look at Hitler, or even our ancestors who killed so many natives. You may think that the world would be a better place without guidelines, but you dont understand how desperate one gets when its live or die. One of those double edge sword deals...
+Wrecking Ball The premise of anarchism goes Much MUCH deeper than that. It's not just political change, it's social change. I recommend you watch "the case for liberty" by libertarian socialist rants on you tube.
WreckingBall Whyisballnotokaytouseasalastname Those gangs would pulverize each other until there are very few left (2 or 3 maybe) then they would be weak, which is the time that everybody breaks them down. Despite this, gangs take over with or without politicians to stop them.
@JBfan88 Just a point - democracy actually stands for leaders elected by popular vote. So "no rulers" is actually the complete opposite of "real democracy".
What kinda of noise you gonna go for,I mean fast and punk or thrash hardcore punk or crust/metal/D-beat sound?i can rec just tell me what you like and i might help in any way.
@FearDivinity -_-.... Dude... it is an ANALOGY, a hypothetical situation to test the whole of an idea. What I mean is that just because you can CHOOSE your ruler it doesn't mean the position of ruler is justified. Hierarchy is never justified. (Also, there are more slaves today than ever before)
nope i chose to think this way i just like them and their music ok i dont listen to every statement made by them besides i dont even know you but i still like anti flags music its not a crime and they are not filling my head with BS go away quaheedus ANTI FLAG ROCKS just had to say it
Culture is fluid my friend, and this largely stems from the economy. For example, in Socialist countries a large value is placed on collective action and care which is exemplified by trade union activity, low crime rates and so forth. You obviously come from either the U.K or U.S like I do, in which helping others is pretty much looked down upon. I've already cited historical examples for you, did you look into them? History is on my side in this case.
@AtombombmotherThe truth is without government you don't have freedom. Without freedom you have dictatorship. Without dictatorship you have rebellion and anarchy. As you can all see we need a government to control our lives because otherwise our society would indeed collapse worse then ever before. Take a good look at 1984 and Lord Of The Flies for two separate, but honest and important ideologies to better understand human motivation and society.
I agree that pretty much the entire populous has been rendered stupid, but that doesn't mean that organised resistance, a build-up of community and widespread education can't somehow compensate for this. Leaders and religion are two of the main things which Anarchists stand against, I'm not sure if you were trying to say that or not so I just thought I'd clarify.
@TiedInChains I completely agree with you, man. I'm 14 too and I think it should happen but you are right it won't work in today's society. But if we put equality and liberty into it we would all be very happy with anarchy.
@Atombombmother "I think it simply means the declaring of all laws that protect private property and the upper class null and VOID." No, that's CHAOS. Words do have definitions for a reason. Anarchy is simply a lack of official leadership, a system where cooperative interaction and association is the mode of organizing society. Anarchy does not denote chaos.
They started in 88 ended about a month after 89 then they traveled for a while then after visiting their home town they decided to get back together in 92 but didnt find a bassist till 93 and then they still were jumping from bassist to bassist. But yea 93 to present technically speaking.
@Atombombmother the system you mean with 'anarchy' is 'anomie' don't worry, most of my punk friends don't know the difference either. so, you're right, they mean 'anomie' with saying 'anarchy'. they want to show, what you said.
@MrBeerfreak a breath of fresh air. everyone hates on anarchy because they think its just chaos. in fact if they took the time to find out about it its the opposite
I didn't start getting angry with society and the government until I was 18 and really started paying attention to what was happening in the world... Fuck it I'm moving to Sweden
@Atombombmother anarchy is simply a social state in which there is no governing person or group of people, but each individual has absolute liberty (without the implication of disorder.) But is bound by a social code.
Anarchism is the most democratic of all ideologies. In its tactics it may differ between different strands of Anarchism which is where I think your criticism comes from. In an Anarcho-Communist utopia though, it would be one of direct, economic democracy with no power differentials whatsoever.
@TiedInChains Dude, anarchism worked in the year 900 (Icelandic Commonwealth), it worked in the 1930s and 1920s why would it all of a sudden not work in today's society.
my favorite song, remember when this cd came out and seeing it live was crazy
and "Rise Against, has similar hard rock roots, punk influences, a subtle use of vocal counterpoint, a subtle use of vocal harmony and varying tempo and time signatures."
i like it... one of the best songs ... i'll see them live at 18th feb in munich.... cya
its punk rock man, its not about how good you sing it, its about what your singing and thats what i love about it, you dont have 2 be good at singing to just go out their and spread your views its freedom man, freedom.

they do fit in the same category- good music.
I love this band, people like to gripe about them being sort of mainstream these days, but nobody takes into consideration that it's pretty cool that we live in an age where a band like Anti-Flag could even be considered mainstream.
one of the best anti-flag songs next to the anger and the truth
"Die for your government" was the one and only album I like by them...If you want something similar that blows their newer stuff away try the Explosion (from boston the singer Sam Cave was the guitar player for the Boston Street punk band the Trouble)

their music proves that punk wasn't a scene, it was life.
@lv71389 thank you for telling me man im sorry i dont really listen to punk so i had no clue what this genre was
Depends on what we make of it. Things we create are not good or bad, we are.
@punkgerion
finally somebody says it.
But the question is:
Is Punk black?
@FearDivinity
-_-.... Dude... it is an ANALOGY, a hypothetical situation to test the whole of an idea. What I mean is that just because you can CHOOSE your ruler it doesn't mean the position of ruler is justified. Hierarchy is never justified.

Raaawr!! Hot Music ^^
Hi, you still feel the same? I hope so
@TiedInChains we got to keep fighting for a better society for everyone. Maybe not anarchy today, but better ways. Step by step.
@pyroslayer83 lmao thanks for wasting my time searching all those bands just to see what they sound like.
My favorite anti flag song. I guess no one care!!!
Culture is fluid my friend, and this largely stems from the economy. Good good old memories!!!!!!!!!
Took me a couple of hours but I can now play it on the bass, virtual high five anyone?

Agreed but how else do you get the word to the masses?
I agree that pretty much the entire populous has been rendered stupid, but that doesn't mean that organised resistance, a build-up of community and widespread education can't somehow compensate for this. @Karalisk ikr there are some rap songs that rap about the same subjects as punk
listen to public enemy
@cooly1uk thats soo wierd haha. im from north east (aberdeen) and yeah, we have quiet a mix of culture up here
Is that logo with the X over the cricle the logo for this song? Or is the logo Anti-Flag?
@cooly1uk are you from u.k by any chance ?
Anybody else think it's interesting [fucked up] that I had to watch a BP Oil ad before this video would play? At least it's not their channel....
Get an adblocker, bro :D
my band and i are looking for good inspirations like anti-flag and rise against. any suggestions will help
Amen to that. i would give 100 thumbs up for that comment.
Haha I know it is mate, but we may as well try and make the world a better place as much as we can, right?
ett jvai les voire le 9 novembre a paris sa va étre enorme!!!!!
@TiedInChains I completely agree with you, man. I'm 14 too and I think it should happen but you are right it won't work in today's society. But if we put equality and liberty into it we would all be very happy with anarchy.
Just to clarify before anyone flips a shit, I'm not trying to troll, just trying to get a grasp of a differing point of view from mine.
hey what genre is this?
@Atombombmother
"I think it simply means the declaring of all laws that protect private property and the upper class null and VOID."
No, that's CHAOS. Words do have definitions for a reason. Anarchy is simply a lack of official leadership, a system where cooperative interaction and association is the mode of organizing society. Anarchy does not denote chaos.
@WhiteWither
If you spin it 45 degrees and remove the blur, yes. Funny, I hadn't noticed that.
Oregon, represent!

oh dude xD

@BillHicks420 oh, i mean that with any group there is a look, and there is a punk theme look, you just don't need it to be punk. Thx tho
@Liam11w I'm from Scotland too! We don't have as much of a problem as they do in England yet, but we still need to oppose them wherever they pop up.
@IdePoTosty Yes? I'm curious too about that sign..
Means like you don't think people should be looked down on 'cause they're poor, etc and that everyone should be equal
Might as well be singing "Where were you--?"
"Now here's Alan Jackson once again to capitalize on your emotions." --South Park
great song!!!
@Atombombmother
the system you mean with 'anarchy' is 'anomie'
don't worry, most of my punk friends don't know the difference either.
so, you're right, they mean 'anomie' with saying 'anarchy'.
they want to show, what you said.
@SelfAware1 dude are u unemployed or just way too bored? xD
i say punk is dead but the music lives on
awesome band!!...only thing that sucks is that many of their songs r too short
how old is this band exactly?
Robert?
I'm sorry to say this, but there are only 12 notes in the entire musical alphabet.
So unless Anti-flag has discovered some new notes...
Thats great cuz anti-flags Bassist is great and not just anyone can play his notes
Damn there is some pretty cool basslines
no, i dont know.
but if the songs are contradictions to you, so don´t listen them !
this song rules!
@AmericaLoudNClear whats losy mean?
i am with u on that 14 and hatting the government!!! rock on bro! \m/
@JBfan88
That is the true definition, something 90% of people fail to grasp for whatever reason.
Then so be it, I can't say I'd just love to live that way but at least I'm living contently and can still amount to something
lol i love how songs can stir up so much politics when the songs themselves are anti political
Justin Sane has suuuuch a hot voice :)
In my mind anarchy doesn't mean no rules, it means no RULERS. In other words, real democracy.
@yourheroxyz What books?
How old Jason is?
which album is this?
what means this symbol( the circle with the X)?
@Atombombmother anarchy is simply a social state in which there is no governing person or group of people, but each individual has absolute liberty (without the implication of disorder.) But is bound by a social code.
Man this song describes me the most.

anti-flag rocks!"!"!"!
I like the song!"!"!"!
So helpful song in frustrating time ;)
@Liam11w Yes I am. Where are you from?
said it right out of my mouth.
so many punk bands have songs called angry young and poor , way b4 anti flag also.
I have wondered a long time: Does the people in Anti-Flag live by making their music?
Yep!
***** They have been on Warped Tour on and off for a long time, and they toured with Rise Against and probably made a ton of money
Flailed I really doubt they make a lot of money. Most real punk bands don't make all that much money.
so what? they don't live with air.
+Aren V whats it called?
Can someone tell me what means the crossed circle?
