Hi Marina, Just curious about the sanding part. We've always sanded before applying the top coat to ensure that the top coat will adhere to the resin. Do you not find that you need to sand before the top coat for a good adhesion? We appreciate you sharing all of your expertise!
Thank you for your kind question! I don’t find that a full sanding (with an electric sander over all surfaces) is necessary. Usually, a light scuffing with a sanding block is enough in my experience. There are also times where I don’t sand at all. I find that if I’m doing a pretty thick top coat, adhesion isn’t really an issue. I’ve seen it be a problem an only a few times, but only when my top coat was very thin.
I recommend having your room temp at around 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit 🫶 I used to use a thin acrylic sheets and prop them over my pieces using plastic cups. Now I actually made an acrylic frame for my table so I can open and close it like a lid. Thank you so much for your support ❤️
Thanks for this video, Marina. I thought in your videos that you said you use KS Resin Liquid Stone Ultra UV as a top coat. It is pretty thick. The cP is 6200. Is the MAS Art Pro thicker than that?
I usually use KS Resin liquid stone elite (2800 cp) for regular top coats and MAS epoxy art pro for top coats that include edges (cp 3500) I would imagine that KSRESIN’s other top coating resins like liquid stone ultra UV that you mentioned would work similarly due to the viscosity. I’ve never personally tried their liquid stone ultra UV though!
@@marinamakesart Thanks Marina. I will have to try some of the Liquid Stone Elite. I’m still experimenting with resins. For the time being, I’m trying to figure out the differences in the KS Resins. Balancing the viscosity and the hardness of the different resins with the purpose of the project or the problem I’m trying to deal with is quite an education! Also, I looked on the MAS website, but couldn’t find the cP. You are a better detective than I.
Definitely, there’s so many options of resins out there and the variety keeps growing as the years go by. Glad to help. MAS epoxy has a “TDS” sheet that has all the technical info and is quite helpful to look over to look over. Their art pro resin is one of my favorite top coats for sure. Best of luck on your quest ✨
Definitely! Protect the front and sides with Elmer’s glue or tape and top coat the back first. Go for a very thin layer (thinner than you would for the top so it’s not domed). Wait at least a few days before you do the front so the back is completely cured 🫶
👍 🙏 I like your way explaining thx💐 i watch you from morocco
I had a piece I had worked on and it really needed and your video helped me save it !
That makes me so happy to hear 🥹❤️❤️

Hi great video, beautiful block thanks for the tips thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx
Im curious what your room temp is and how you prevent dust/dirt/hair from getting into it as it dries? :) thank you for a great video!

Hi,
This is beautiful :) Can you please list what size mold you used and where you purchased it?
Thank you so much ❤️ this one is the 11”x8” from Aaj molds: www.aajmolds.com/products/pre-order-3-deep-rectangle-block-mold?variant=41286222086297

Thanks Marina! @@marinamakesart BRW, I think you are doing a great job on UA-cam lately.

Hi Marina, is there a way to top coat the sides again? My resin coat wasn't thick enough on the sides and they're ripply :(
Definitely! Side coats can be challenging. Try sanding the sides down so they are flat and give it another shot.
Can you also top coat the back? My mold wasn’t the best and the back had dips so I sanded it but haven’t coated it again

Wow you replied so quickly. Thank you for the tip!!
What kind of resin do you use for top coating coasters? I have been using the KS resin liquid stone.
I usually use KSRESIN Liquid Stone Elite or MAS Epoxy Art Pro, they are both good options for coasters!
Thank you!! 😊
What's that back side glue
Do you always need or use a final top coat?
it's more of a personal choice, not always necessary unless you need a hard surface (like coasters or a tray)
Did you pour that block in sections or all at once?
always in layers
@@marinamakesart thank you
