Yes I think I am coming around and seeing the light! Be a lot of fun, do some interesting routes with like minded people. I know some people use Discord to chat on while riding. Or even just a place to gather and chat, wonder if there is interest in that?
Huh, I thought I had replied to this, I'm in a muscle relaxant cloud today (pulled muscle) - Discord is a good solution for comms in races/group riding, I know some people used it for Zwift. I'm in the EST time-zone so I'm a little off from the other users, but would make time on the weekend or something. PS. I figured out where Rouvy saves the downloaded videos to, let me know if this is something you want to share and I can get you the info, I'm on rural internet so I have to download at work and transfer to my PC when I get home. @@insidecyclingworld
When Colin DM's you to tell I'm the star of his next video, I figured I had to watch it. First of all, great channel! Gets better with every video. Newbies have a lot to learn but even experienced Rouvyers have something to learn from Colin's videos. Keep them coming Colin, great job!! So this was a ride I did last month when I was recovering from Covid. Colin loves Time Trialing (which I'm trying to change) but I ditched them a while back. I am either racing or any other ride I do are in Just Ride mode with some form of drafting present. I either pick Virtual Partners or Ghost Riders for that purpose. Then on races of course you are working with live riders. On this ride I had my ghost rider buddies. In case you don't know how they work, they are programmed to stay with you. Sometimes they go ahead, sometimes they follow you from behind but they never ditch you. So there are times when they are ahead of me, I get good draft from them so I don't push hard. But on uphills when you slow down, there is virtually no draft, maybe a few watts here to save you a second or two but on climbs you are on your own. So I was pushing harder on the hills. I tried not to exceed more than 95% of my FTP on the hills, body was still little achy. Short intervals, it was manageable. Like Colin explained, I had to ride this route again a week or so later for the Global Tourist challenge. Instead of a just ride mode ride, I raced. It was a lot of fun. Kicked my bottom. It's a fun sprint route, all out effort worthy. Push hard on the hills, recover on downhills. Catch you on your next ride my friend!
Great to hear comments from the man himself. Lots of good information here riders. I will attempt to elaborate more on this in the next video. Thanks Basak
Hi Anders, yes it's a nice route, I like it so much I am going to ride it again!!! Actually, I rode it too soon and it didn't count for the Global Tourist challenge, but it is great.
Ha thanks for the shoutout Colin and thanks for the quick release. I won't bore you with details but I haven't been on a bike since i was in HS (87 grad) and am doing this because of health issues. Your Rouvy videos showing how it works helped me decide i wanted to use that platform so im saving up for a smart bike. Thanks again mate, cheers, Ed
Hi again Ed, all good man. 1987 HS grad?......me too!!! It is never too late to start and honestly cycling has to be one of the best ways to go. Focus on that cardio, it will do wonders for your physical and mental health. The strength in the legs and the core come along with that. Hope to see you on the coming months, how about a "Welcome Ed Group Ride"? I am all for it!
@@insidecyclingworld 87, nice! Honestly I cant wait. Since starting rehab and finding out I can ride without experiencing the pain I get when walking ive been looking at youtube vids for bikes and platforms and like I said, I really enjoy your content. Would love to see an updated Rouvy vid about the platform like you mentioned a couple videos ago btw Thanks for the advice and added inspiration that you are my age and still killing it Colin!
@@edh6841 Ed you can do it too, cycling is so addictive to me, especially with Rouvy. We have that old guy strength, once you get moving there is no looking back ever again my friend. I rode this morning at 6 am, had a great ride that will make for a very good video(i think it's the next one to narrate) I have never been stronger since I started using Rouvy exclusively. And yes that video is coming very soon, that one is easy to make, doesn't involve me doing any riding. Promise I will work on it, there have been many changes and I realize that it is outdated now.
Another interesting vid Colin, and thanks for the good bits of info on using Rouvy too! I usually ride in Just Ride mode with the Pacebots for company.
Hi Peter, You know doing these videos has taught me a lot too about the Rouvy platform. There are so many different ways to do your training. I used to only ride TT routes, just solo at 100%. I am starting to see the benefits of the Ghost Riders more now. I had no clue you could draft off of them. Shout out again to Basak for his great comments. Everyone keep a lookout for him on your rides.
Good point Dave, seems strange to not have it in both modes. And yes the TT should not have drafting, outside of maybe introducing a Team Time Trial mode.........which I would be all about!!!!!!!!!! Good to see you again have an awesome weekend.
Wow Colin, never thought of a Team Time Trial mode, sounds fun. Wonder how Rouvy would sort out the physics of swapping rider round as each takes a turn on the front?
@@davew9652 I am not sure how much Rouvy would have to do. Tweak some physics but I think most of it would be up to the team of riders. It would be so cool to have designated TTT routes, 4-8 rider teams could take them on. Oh the speed, I would love it.
@@johnthebiker300 I use them quite often when I find myself alone on a course. They can be quite motivating and keep you honest so it doesn't turn into a slacker ride.
Thumbs up for group rides!

It's a shame that drafting isn't applied to Time Trail mode as well. They should pull a Zwift and apply drafting for all but TT bikes.
