Great review and demonstration. Appreciate you taking a good while to go through this rather than just “noodling”. 🤣 I’m a long-time Mesa Boogie user (not a metal player), and just purchased the amplitude 5 max bundle. I also own a Mark lV and V. They did a phenomenal job of capturing the authentic sound. Maybe too good! No, nothing beats the real thing. But in all honesty, laying down tracks is nice and easy with this, and I can pretty much match the sound perfectly without being able to tell the difference on a produced project. Just subscribed! 😀

Amplitube really never disappoints does it. So many sounds, so much control, so many configurations and this is just 1 amp sim. Amplitube max really must be infinite in the possible sounds and configurations. How IK Multimedia managed to cram all of this into one program is just breath taking. As always Gabor fantastic review thanks.

if they were vastly different they wouldn't have just swiped each version with just a magic marker swipe or a black dot or a + sign. The big difference in the IIC+ and the Mark III was the third channel. Mesa got noticeably different with the Mesa badging vs the Boogie badges. The Rectifier series,The lone star, Road King,Nomad, etc came later and did sound different... The stiletto was probably the most different being EL34 based shooting toward the Marshall tone. Even my newer Mark 5 EL84 based amp sits in my studio with the older mark III'S and it too sounds really close even all these years later with totally different power section/ tubes. The petrucci amp is a modern Mark amp and you can line up all the Mark series amps and NO one in the audience would ever know the difference and most guitar players blind folded couldn't pick them out one from the other especially with the transparent EVM 12L black shadow speaker or an MC-90 black shadow. The IIC+ landed in the right time to become the flagship vintage boogie. Thats when 80's music was huge and that amp was produced at the right time for the players who made it famous. I would argue a Mark III purple, red, blue or green could have been used by the players who made the IIC+ famous and those albums and concerts wouldn't have sounded any different.

in my experience what will make them sound different is the speaker you run them through ( that can make a HUGE difference ) and what tubes you use, that too can be a VERY big tone/eq change power and preamp tubes ) those variables will make one sound a bit different from one to the next also a model with graphic eq vs one with out, other wise they all have the same voice and are all wonderful amps. Simul-class vs non simul makes a difference too, but all fully loaded marks are heart and soul the same amp. The IIC+ when it came out was not iconic, it was just a IIC with a tweak they called the + and when the mark III Came out next everyone flocked to it because it had 3 channels and that was a huge difference, the IIC+ was left behind and production stopped. when the III was released it was the latest and greatest and the same when the mark IV came out with it's separate eq and many more bells and whistles which the III didn't have and so on and so on. People call the Red stripe a poor mans IIC+, i would argue it's the smart man because it is a 1/4 of the price of the IIC+for the same sound and it has one extra channel the IIC+ doesn't have.

Great review man! If you want to squeeze more gain out of this amp though, you need to crank the treble knob all the way! Try it and let me know what you think of it!

I would like to see a recto verb if there is one. Great review as always!

Thank you Jeffry!! I don’t think they have a RectoVerb as part of the series…they have a Dual and also a Triple Rectifier, a few different Mark amps (IIC+, III & IV) the Triple Crown and the TransAtlantic…I think that’s all they have

Great review, thanks Gabor! So much to work through with Amplitube MAX. This amp is SO versatile.
(I think) the graphic EQ is placed right up front - maybe before the pre-amp section? - which gives it a wide range on your tone. Somebody please comment on the specifics...

The EQ is placed on the front before the pre, that's why it has the extra EQ on the right. Bands like Metallica got that tight sound by dialing down bass and mids, pushing the topend and then shaping the sounds with the other EQ by making this "V" shape. So the standart Bass/Mid/High EQ is placed front, the graphic EQ is placed behind
