A: Callie's boss animation play incorrectly in the squid sisters in the bone area making the whole right arm look weird so I had to edit stuff and that's the best I could get Q: Why are Callie's tentacles stiff? Isn't that animation supposed to play properly on her? A: Yeah but that Callie model is actually Marie's, with a TON of things replaced so I couldn't make the hair bones work Q: Why didn't you give a roller to Callie? A: Rollers don't shoot ink like that JFKSDLJF I can't edit the animation, so let's say it's Marie's charger Q: Why does Marie dance the original boss BRB sometimes? A: To fill space xD I made different versions of this mod and wanted to show them Q: Why are there weird cuts sometimes? A: Callie's dance was weird to work with, the animation is separated in 5 parts and had to find the right numbers for it to load properly, I couldn't do it perfectly in the end so I ended up merging together different footage Q: Future plans? Honestly, I don't really think kimono Callie would make as much sense because Marie is the one that has the traditional Japanese aesthetic, but maybe you could use the outfit Callie wears after she's rescued
It would be cool to eventually have a mod pack that fully swaps Callie and Marie’s roles. And might I add, I love the vocal changes to this boss fight here.
For everyone saying Callie should have used a roller, you're wrong. She should have thrown a splat bomb. It's literally the song she sings and there is no way for her to *hit Marie in the freaking face with a pole from 30 meters away on a flying bus*
Also, I actually really like the idea that Callie used Marie's charger. I wish people would stop complaining, because that in itself has soooo many fun implications. I think it really works out.

this is really cool. i really like the detail of "evil" marie having a gas mask instead of shades, it fits with the way they used to hide their identities in their dialogue icons.
And also, because Callie was kind controlled with the shades, Marie could be kind of controlled with a gas version of octoling ink being filtered through her system
I personally would've loved to see the hero mode like this because Callie is usually such a bright and cheerful character, and It would be incredible to see how she would react in a despair inducing situation
another note, in this comment I mean that Marie would have still won the splatfest, it would make more sense that the more popular squid sister is the one to be kidnapped.. there's a few more ideas I had but I don't want to write it all out
I'd love to see a fanfiction of that! Or even DLC for the second game that lets you play the story mode with Callie in Marie's place and Marie in Callie's place.
@@Trigger-p I think the main reason that is kinda based on logic,Marie is more Calm Minded and Callie is more hot headed,Hell even Marie herself said that in the Postgame so Having Callie Captured is more realistic than Marie And second,this scene,I don't see Callie can hit Marie with Anything other than Marie's Charger,if she hits her with a roller how does Callie come back to the truck? if she throws a bomb for example Burst Bomb,she kinda needs perfect accuracy to throw it But overall,i do love the twist on Callie and Marie Switch Places as What If's for content,its fun
my headcanon here is that the mask has a hypnotism gas in it, and as long as Marie breathes it in she is hypnotized, and when the mask is shot off she no longer is hypnotized as much but still not fully recovered because there is still some of the gas inside of her body, after Callie plays the radio the gas will have left her body and she is out of the trance
Omg it’s so surreal seeing the “Evil” Marie concept actually in game! Loved the showcase with their dances too, I know it had to be a lot of work to rig the different animations! Great work 💚
The idea of callie using Marie's charger to rescue her from Octavia's control is really cute and adorable to me especially if callie mentions that Marie taught her how to use a charger if that happens I would become part of the ink on the boss room floor
the gas mask fits her well. i couldn't see marie falling for the hypno-shades, but it's reasonable that marie might've found herself in an agent related situation where she was offered the mask to protect herself

I feel like if Marie was like this, she would’ve acted like she was sleepy, or dreary. If Callie had hit her with the charger, the ink should’ve been pink, to try and wake her up from the nightmare that she Octavio put her in

There really should've been a fun little "What If" update where we'd get to see how the story would play out with the Squid Sisters' roles swapped (though likely to be just as OtH-free as the main Octo Canyon, unfortunately. I will never forgive Nintendo for not allowing Pearl and Marina to appear in their game's base story mode, no matter how awesome Octo Expansion ended up being.)
This would be an awesome boss battle for me because I for one am a Callie fan myself and it would be cool hearing a hypnotized version of Marie sing “ Tide Goes Out”

Would love to have this as a downloadable mod on Gamebanana or smth, complete with Callie having a Kimono and replacing Marie like said in the pinned comment. I've always preferred Callie over Marie, so to have her be by my side throughout the game instead would be sick! I'd honestly love to help with dialogue changes. I'm not the *best* at writing, but I think I'd do alright. Regardless though, this is really cool! Great work.
I'll eventually upload it when everything's done ^^ but stuff like the voices and music won't be modified cuz I'll change those when editing the video (that's way easier) and the dialogue from the levels won't be modified either cuz that's a lot, I'll give free permission to anyone who wants to complement it and fully flesh it out tho!
Man I would love to see this in the full story mode. Mainly how Callie would go about coaching agent 4. I totally see her trying to keep a brave face as long as she can but when she learns Marie’s been squidnapped she breaks and during the last set of levels Callie is practically begging 4 to help her cousin
This is actually amazing and I’m so stupidly happy that SOMEONE finally attempted this! 😭😭💖💖 Seriously, this role-reversal scenario for the end boss fight of Splatoon 2 was just pure, untapped potential that NO ONE was taking advantage of; as a huge Callie fan this was a joy to see thank you so much 😭😭❤ And for the people saying that a Roller wouldn’t be able to reach, y’all seem to be forgetting that Rollers can fling ink at long distances when swung 😂 But in all seriousness, the devs set up this cutscene with Marie’s weapon choice in mind so the modder can only do so much; I’m sure if Callie was the one up there the entire cutscene would have been made differently for her weapon choice, the Roller ❤
I love the idea of Callie taking Marie's charger knowing she couldn't get close (or precise) enough with a roller. I can see Marie chewing her out for it after. Also, have they always looked that sad in this scene? If so, I've never noticed. That's a really cool detail
There's literally just something about Marie with the painter's mask that makes her look threatening. You can't see the expressions she makes with her mouth, only her eyes. Just how the hypnogoggles makes Callie look threatening because all you can see is her mouth expression.

This was awesome! I want to say everything positive I thought of I'm this but it would then be, a 5,000 word essay about why this is so great! My favorite part is how the gas mask made Marie sound somewhat distorted, it made it feel more... Real to me.
my personal opinion on callie using the charger i think it fits. In a time like this i could imagine callie finding marie's charger because all she had was a roller and callie most likely concluded that she couldn't use the roller so marie's charger was the last resort.
I can understand why Marie would have a gas mask and Callie shades. Callie's agent outfit has sunglasses, and Marie's agent outfit has a mask (like the ones from COVID)
IT TOOK A MOMENT TO REALIZE THE INK COLORS HAVE BEEN INVERTED! In the original DJ’s ink colors were pink to match Callie’s pink style now they’re green for Marie! :O well played well played…

Was watching a splatoon lore vid and found out an interview for this game said that the squid sisters' solo songs for the final fest were made with the final boss fight of spla2n in mind, and it made me think of this exact vid. Lo and behold, it appears on my recommended the next day 😂
Love the differences between Callie and Marie's "mind control outfits"; Marie's skirt instead of Callie's pants (mirroring their performance outfits), Marie having a mind-control gas mask rather than sharing Callie's mind-control visor. We love to see it! ❤
People are complaining about people complaining about Callie using a charger. I personally think it would be funny as shit to see Callie grab a massive dynamo roller or something and completely knock Marie out with a vertical flick.

I really like this, honestly. The thought of Callie desperately trying her cousin back, to me- she fits better in the role. Great video though, would love to see more.
Love the animations here! A decent mix of Marie Tidal Rush too- though it does suffer from the same drawback as all remixes in that to make it fully fit you'd need to recompose the entire piece and have an isolated recording of the lyrics

There really should've been a fun little "What If" update where we'd get to see how the story would play out with the Squid Sisters' roles swapped (though likely to be just as OtH-free as the main Octo Canyon, unfortunately. I will never forgive Nintendo for not allowing Pearl and Marina to appear in their game's base story mode, no matter how awesome Octo Expansion ended up being.)

In my opinion, Marie is kind of a better villain because she has a more sarcastic and dry personality. So thank you for making this possible 💚
Would love to have this as a downloadable mod on Gamebanana or smth, complete with Callie having a Kimono and replacing Marie like said in the pinned comment. I've always preferred Callie over Marie, so to have her be by my side throughout the game instead would be sick! I'd honestly love to help with dialogue changes. I'm not the *best* at writing, but I think I'd do alright.
Regardless though, this is really cool! Great work.
I'll eventually upload it when everything's done ^^ but stuff like the voices and music won't be modified cuz I'll change those when editing the video (that's way easier) and the dialogue from the levels won't be modified either cuz that's a lot, I'll give free permission to anyone who wants to complement it and fully flesh it out tho!

Man I would love to see this in the full story mode. Mainly how Callie would go about coaching agent 4. I totally see her trying to keep a brave face as long as she can but when she learns Marie’s been squidnapped she breaks and during the last set of levels Callie is practically begging 4 to help her cousin

Seriously, this role-reversal scenario for the end boss fight of Splatoon 2 was just pure, untapped potential that NO ONE was taking advantage of; as a huge Callie fan this was a joy to see thank you so much 😭😭❤
And for the people saying that a Roller wouldn’t be able to reach, y’all seem to be forgetting that Rollers can fling ink at long distances when swung 😂
But in all seriousness, the devs set up this cutscene with Marie’s weapon choice in mind so the modder can only do so much; I’m sure if Callie was the one up there the entire cutscene would have been made differently for her weapon choice, the Roller ❤

I love the idea of Callie taking Marie's charger knowing she couldn't get close (or precise) enough with a roller. I can see Marie chewing her out for it after. Also, have they always looked that sad in this scene? If so, I've never noticed. That's a really cool detail
There's literally just something about Marie with the painter's mask that makes her look threatening.
You can't see the expressions she makes with her mouth, only her eyes.
Just how the hypnogoggles makes Callie look threatening because all you can see is her mouth expression.

This was awesome! I want to say everything positive I thought of I'm this but it would then be, a 5,000 word essay about why this is so great! My favorite part is how the gas mask made Marie sound somewhat distorted, it made it feel more... Real to me.

my personal opinion on callie using the charger i think it fits. In a time like this i could imagine callie finding marie's charger because all she had was a roller and callie most likely concluded that she couldn't use the roller so marie's charger was the last resort.

IT TOOK A MOMENT TO REALIZE THE INK COLORS HAVE BEEN INVERTED! In the original DJ’s ink colors were pink to match Callie’s pink style now they’re green for Marie! :O well played well played…

Was watching a splatoon lore vid and found out an interview for this game said that the squid sisters' solo songs for the final fest were made with the final boss fight of spla2n in mind, and it made me think of this exact vid. Lo and behold, it appears on my recommended the next day 😂

Love the animations here! A decent mix of Marie Tidal Rush too- though it does suffer from the same drawback as all remixes in that to make it fully fit you'd need to recompose the entire piece and have an isolated recording of the lyrics
