When I was at UCLA 25 years ago, this place was called Xiao Mei's. There was a mexican guy there that had been working there so long he spoke chinese and took orders in chinese. We used to go there every week with our regular asian crew for Boba Tea, Chinese shaved ice and pork chop rice! It was the Ultimate UCLA Asian Hangout!
Orange chicken is an authentic dish from Hunan but the American variation is quite different. Jingdong meat pies are actually called 'Jing dong xian bing' (京东馅饼) in Chinese. They originated in Inner Mongolia and later spread to the Dachang Hui Autonomous County of Hebei where it was adopted by Hui Muslims. The location of this county is east of Beijing or 'Jing dong' which is where the dish gets its name.
When I was living in Alhambra 12 years ago, that was my wife and I’s favorite spot. We’d pick up dinner to go at least once a week, EVERY week. Great eats at affordable prices. Happy to see it get its well deserved props. Xiao Mei!!!
A bit distracted by how all three of you hold chopsticks differently. I'm Team David. Andrew holds the top stick closer to the thumb joint, and Nelson has a style of his own (11:20) 🤣
We don't have cafeteria food in NZ we don't get food served at schools, you just bring your own food to school, but can buy meat pies or other snacks at school usually unhealthy food when I went to school.
HEY! I ate there a couple weeks ago when I was in Alhambra for a concert! 😃 But honestly, I didn’t really like the food BUT I loved how it was practically a full meal because they gave you rice and broth along with what you order!👌🏻👌🏻
I guess I’ll have to try Kang Kang again, I don’t think I’ve been in 5+ years and I had rice porridge that tasted burnt! We usually get 四个菜 in Arcadia at the food court by 99 ranch. We always call it 4 dishes and not a cafeteria
Gonna try 99 ranch market at Irvine. Where they also have cafeteria style food. Same thing goes for Sam Woo BBQ and Wholesome choice at Irvine. Won’t regret.
So, I got to go to Pasadena to get take out? A lot of the cafeteria stuff is more than twice that price at Dim Sum locations in Las Vegas. Thanks for the review.
This type of food courts are so common, day-to-day, average, ordinary, basic....across China. Mostly offer affordable and fast meals to working class people. Don't believe anybody has the passion to took selfie or TikTok/video there. Feel a bit interesting/amazed how this could make American born Chinese bros soooo excited.
One correction, the leaf wrapping of "zongzi" is not lotus leaf. Depends on which region of China you are talking about, most leaf wrappings of "zongzi" are common reed leafs, a few regions use local bamboo leafs. But, there isn't a single region uses lotus leafs. That's not saying lotus leafs aren't used in Chinese rice wrapping dishes. In fact, quite a few regions have dishes which rice or sticky rice is wrapped with lotus leafs. But, they are not called "zongzi".
I went to Alahambra last Sunday to a 99 Ranch Market store to grab some amazing snacks and also happen to eat a pastry in Kee Wah Bakery. It was on point. Next time though I will go to Kang Kang. Thanks for the recommendation and good video.

Yo I was thinking the same thing. Hahahahah

Shoutout for tipping them . I have served the Fung bros in les at a cafe called Berkli Parc . Very sweet and respectful guys
i love you guys hanging with Nelson, the 3 of you work perfect together

You guy need to collaborate with Mikey Chen. 😁
Yessssssssssssss, I would watch that in lopes
@@earthring .... Lopes?
That Mikey Chen dude is a cult member. My suggestion is not having relationship with him.
@@mingzmings88 So, how's your incarnation going? Growing the third eye yet?
Agreed
I’m so glad I live in SoCal so I can actually go to this place and try the food. It looks really good. Thanks Fung Bros for introducing this place.
Love the energy in this video, the editing compounds the groups hilarity wonderfully. Great content!
David: Still stuck on 1.75
Andrew:Enjoying everything
Nelson: Criticizing (not a lot)
I'm on that David wave because 1.75 is supremely cheap for a brokeboy like me!
You guys made me hungry. Have to go to Kang Kang now!
A bit distracted by how all three of you hold chopsticks differently. I'm Team David. Andrew holds the top stick closer to the thumb joint, and Nelson has a style of his own (11:20) 🤣
We gotta give them note of that
The Chinese translated to English is 3 Dish 1 Soup
I love when you guys do food tasting videos.
"Being Chinese is complicated" Bruh I could put that on my gravestone lol It's like an onion of complications, just layer upon layer of things lol
Why did I watch this before dinner? I'll never make it to the SGV through traffic.
That was a lot of vinegar for a single xiaolongbao 😂
3/8/2024 - going through your older stuff guys! I like it when you guys say the dishes in unison....
this stuff on fire, Love all the bois get together and have a great time!!!!!!!!
why were the flags blurred out?
China doesn't recognise Taiwanese sovereignty. They could possibly get into trouble for showing the flag.
Don’t see why, UA-cam is already banned in China, unless they post on Youku.
@@hobmonger5275 doesn't matter much of their family is from Mainland China if Im not wrong. They definitely have PRC eyes on them.
As a shanghaiese my favorite shenjianbao ever in kangkang.
I stopped everything I was doing just to watch this!!
Kang Kang 小美 is a stable in SGV. That place was open when I first moved here in the early 90’s.
This place is reasonable even by a regular Asian restaurant standard wow
13:13 was this a freestyle ? LOOL
came back just for that line found out it was one of their songs xD

BRAH. KANG KANG! I used to work across the street at Lion Travel and I'd go here every day
We have the EXACT same meat pie in Australia but we call it a pasty pie because our meat pies are like an actual pie with bbq meat filling
Thank you guys, I will stop by this place, food look so good
Looks really good
Y’all sound like the power rangers the way y’all say the name of the food 😂
That chicken scallion looks RAW!
These evergreen content is something you can always return to...

Nelly's hoodie needs to be ironed out lmao
I love how much they are raving over caifan

Idk who does the editing of their videos but its spot-on! Very good job👍
I'll say Chengdu Impression would be the closest you can get to a Szechuan cuisine
*David* why are you so good looking? You're distracting me from the food... stop it lol. Great video boys!! Keep it up😍❤😘✌

That looks like an awesome place to experience real Chinese food from various regions of China.
While me over here with the chick fil A. $5 for some chicken nuggets
Why do you think they're so nice? They say "my pleasure" when ripping you off
$4 for 8 tiny pieces of chicken breast. 💯🇺🇸
Thank you ... Loved the video ... Now I'm hungry
I literally just ate dinner and this is making me REALLY hungry
Ate there like 10 years ago with my future wife, crazy to see this place getting e-famous. It's pronounced more like "kahn kahn shao may"
I know right, kang kang how they pronounce it like some white people speak Mandarin.
So, I got to go to Pasadena to get take out? A lot of the cafeteria stuff is more than twice that price at Dim Sum locations in Las Vegas. Thanks for the review.
荠菜Ji Cai is not Chive, it is shepherd's purse, it is a type of weeds in western garden.

OMG...this looks so good!
Nelson that is it NO more cellphone usage while taping.
How do the three of you stay skinny?
I love you guys. I definitely have to try this place out.
Zhongzi is bamboo leaves tho. 糯米雞 is lotus leaves. They taste different.
You actually eat the leaves on that dish? I'm not familiar with some of these Northern dishes.
@@Briguy1027 Actually they are southern dishes, neither of them eat the leaves. BTW 糯米鸡 does not have any chicken inside.
@@Briguy1027 nahhh the leaves are just to flavor the rice
Loved this episode
I had smile on my face when I saw orange chicken.
How da fox y’all 3 eat all of that!!!
Lu's Garden on Valley is pretty good too, they also have free rice OR kabocha congee as well as free tea for lunch.
That meat pie reminds me of the French meat pie that my grandfather would make.

The place I go for Dan Dan does hand shaved noodles and it makes for a different experience than the regular egg noodles.
