Interview from Smokey Mountain Wrestling 4/2/93 Arn Anderson-Rock and Roll Express vs Heavenly Bodies-Bobby Eaton vs Dutch Mantell-Robert Fuller-Jimmy Golden
no one will believe me but i used to live in Charlotte NC 2 house down from Bobby the Beautiful and about 20 houses away from Arn Anderson. i got to meet rick flair and tons of guys when they would come over to see bobby or Arn. Their kids were just normal neighborhood kids and we all hung. such a good time in my childhood!
Arn Anderson with the Rock and Roll Express?? Ricky's promos never really made a lot of sense, and he didn't disappoint. But it was good to see Bobby and Stan reunited.
He is a flawless performer. He is text book perfect in the ring. He may not be the biggest draw of all time. But he is as good as any other worker in the business.
@@brianezell5790 You do realize Jim Cornette is white don't you? In fact there is not one black person in the entire segment. Were you high when you watched this?
That video should be used as a training manual to show young wrestlers how to successfully do promos. You had some of the best talkers in the business in that video: Arn Anderson, Ricky Morton, Stan Lane, Dr. Tom Pritchard, Robert Fuller and Jim Cornette (who ran SMW) at that time. Old school promos at their finest!
you just witnessed 10 of the best wrestlers of that era. if you were lucky enough to c this match i bet it was a damn wild and crazy match. gotta love the old stuff. All hail memphis and smokey mt. wrestling.
The 4 Horseman! Arn Anderson and the boys were the SHIT! I love indie wrestling. You don't see today's wrestlers cut promos like they did back in the days.
Love the way they would mention whatever town they were working in multiple times to sell tickets. Ricky even had a Pikeville shirt on. Youd be surprised how adding little touches like this (the shirt) would help ticket sales. It helped build a connection with the fans. Was it just me or did Dr.Tom morph into Roddy Piper? Never realized how much these two sounded alike.
Watch Bobby Eaton in the background lol. I kinda think he was getting a little irritated after cornette started speaking and the one heavenly body guy kept annoying him with his belt and flicking his hair.
i love arn anderson especially his comment about the life you save may be your own. AA one of the few left handed wrestlers ever him and the patriot pretty much in teh time i've watched post 1990.
LoL. If Robert Gibson and Bobby Eaton ever formed a tag team, it would be the quietest team ever. During interviews, they'd just stare into the camera and nod. And smile every once in a while.
Very nice to see a segment where all the wrestlers are still alive. (Lance Russell passed away and I don't know about the SMW interviewer guy) but All 9 wrestlers plus Jim Cornette and Les Thatcher are all still with us.
Tom Prichard was one of THE best talkers in wrestling...He reminded me of Roddy Piper alot...And he was the Rock of the Continental Wrestling Federation...and the Bullet was the HUlk Hogan.
The Mt. Rushmore of wrestling announcers. 1) Lance Russell 2) Bob Caudle 3) Gordon Solie 4) Tony Schiavone. I enjoyed them as much as I did the wrestlers!!
Gotta give it to Jim Cornette he knew how to make a match seem expecting he hyped this match very well and gave the other guys their do Territory wrestling is the best
Amen. The Rock's promos were almost the same every time. HBK's promos? I can't think of any line he's said that's been all that memorable other than the repeated ad nauseum DX catch phrases. Yet, I can still remember the first interview I saw of Arn Anderson, when he stared at the camera and to emphasize how serious he was said "Look close, this ain't a toothpaste commercial." Sounds kind of dumb, but the way he delivered it made it awesome.
Some of the single greatest tag teams and tag team wrestlers to ever be in a match. If we could have fit The Fantastics and their partner Steve Keirn or Tommy Rich in there. It wouldve been near perfect. haha
The Talent here is crazy Dirty Dutch, the Stud Stable,Bobby Eaton,The Havenly Bodies ,Double A and The Rock Roll you could have ran this tape as a promo class
I love Arn Anderson promos. Poetry they are.
Robert Gibson can look at Arn and Ricky at the same time. Amazing!
LMFAO you wrong for dat! He did have dat crazy lazy eye!
That is so mean
You bad wee fucker 😂😂
😂😂😂
Hell is hot brother 🤣🤣
Arn Anderson, man that guy can talk without getting excited.
Double A on the mic: as badass as it gets.
This totally makes me miss good old-school wrestling.
Arn Anderson is amazing
no one will believe me but i used to live in Charlotte NC 2 house down from Bobby the Beautiful and about 20 houses away from Arn Anderson. i got to meet rick flair and tons of guys when they would come over to see bobby or Arn. Tell 'em ARN!. Nobody does a promo like Double A.
Pure gold all the way around. Creativity, spontaneity, greatness on the mic.
Arn is awesome. One of the best promos & workers ever. Way underrated. Tom Prichard same thing. Absolutely great.
Cornette was one of the greatest heel managers that ever worked. Yes he was a prick but he could cut a promo blindfolded. He was great.
Old School 80's and 90's wrestling outshines the product today!!!!
Esp...VKM's company!!!!
I used to love seeing Double-A do a promo.
"The life you save may be your own". Classic.
Man, Arn is so damn good. He just has a way of having you hanging on his every word.
Can still cut a good promo better than all the WWE guys these days based on his AEW interview the other day.
5 months later, same for Jake the Snake. They both have more charisma than the whole damn main roster.
This fire in ny Eyes comes from a Criminal Mind
I never realized how much Stone Cold borrowed from Arn.
Can we just say Arn Anderson is the greatest performer of all time.
No.
We could, but we'd be lying. He's good in the ring and great on the mic, but the greatest of all time?.......
He is a flawless performer. He is text book perfect in the ring. He may not be the biggest draw of all time. But he is as good as any other worker in the business.
Agreed!
#SpineBusterCity 😎 #TootToot 🎙
arn anderson probably one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time. Always liked him cause like me he's a southpaw. Alwasy a good interview also.
Jim Cornette, might as well be you BOY! Classic promo southern wrestling gold. Smh, I'd love to see this kinda stuff nowadays.
Never. That racist boy stuff is dead.
@@brianezell5790 You do realize Jim Cornette is white don't you? In fact there is not one black person in the entire segment. Were you high when you watched this?
Playtawin it is ugly and should never be in pro wrestling again.
I missed me some SMW!!!! This stuff right here is pure Southern Wrasslin at its finest!!
Dutch Mantel looks like what Yosemite Sam would look like if he were a real person
If he said, "varmints", I'd have died!! 😂😂😂
He does.lol
That my FRIEND...IS THE TRUTH!!!
I thought he was that dude with jack swagger as part of the real Americans. Zeb Culter.
Robert Fuller looked like Colonel Sanders when he was in WCW
That video should be used as a training manual to show young wrestlers how to successfully do promos. You had some of the best talkers in the business in that video: Arn Anderson, Ricky Morton, Stan Lane, Dr. Tom Pritchard, Robert Fuller and Jim Cornette (who ran SMW) at that time. Old school promos at their finest!
I don't think very many of today's wrestlers are allowed to make up their own promo.
jim cornett looks like he works in the movie theaters with that purple with red trim coat lol
The rock and rolls vs the Midnight express in the NWA is one of my favorites programs of all time.
Midnight versus the Road Warriors was even better.
Damn, nobody’s better on the mic than Arn Anderson.
Yep, and no teleprompters either.
Damn These promos are way better than what WWE has now in days!
you just witnessed 10 of the best wrestlers of that era. if you were lucky enough to c this match i bet it was a damn wild and crazy match. gotta love the old stuff. All hail memphis and smokey mt. wrestling.
The 4 Horseman! Arn Anderson and the boys were the SHIT! I love indie wrestling. You don't see today's wrestlers cut promos like they did back in the days.
Stan Lane sound like Billy Gunn here.
Arn just speaks normally and he still the most feared man in the company
Double A is still one of the best promos in the business!!!!!
Listen to Arn & you'll hear where Stone Cold got his cadence.
man i miss those days of wrestling. that was when wrestling was at it's best imo. eaton was hilarious in this promo.
Watch Bobby Eaton in the background lol. I kinda think he was getting a little irritated after cornette started speaking and the one heavenly body guy kept annoying him with his belt and flicking his hair.
Shortly after this Arn would be with Robert Parker in wcw when he became the Colonel
He wrestled alongside Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden in NWA Southeastern long before this as part of "The Stud's Stable"!😎🐴🖐B.W.
This is considered one of the great heel interviews ever.
Dutch was always gold on the mic
That's how you cut a promo. Arn is amazing.
Look up a bulls butt and tell you the price of butter--ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!!!
"Dont show up, the life that you save, might be your own" classic.
Funny this interview is in alot of dvd shown to rookie wrestlers on how to do a great old school 5 star promo.
i love arn anderson especially his comment about the life you save may be your own. AA one of the few left handed wrestlers ever him and the patriot pretty much in teh time i've watched post 1990.
God, I miss those days when they used mainstream music for their entrance.
Awesome, great old school promos.
Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden before they were Col. Rob Parker and Bunkhouse Buck.
arn could talk
He was a sports writer for the dallas morning news covering college football.
always loved that quote about arn's advice? you know don't show up the life you save may be your own
Awesome. Professional wrestling...THE OLD SCHOOL WAY!!!!!
LoL. If Robert Gibson and Bobby Eaton ever formed a tag team, it would be the quietest team ever. During interviews, they'd just stare into the camera and nod. And smile every once in a while.
Arnold was one that rubbed Ricky's face through the concrete, and now their teamed up, some things you can't forget
Fantastic promos! Unfortunately, i never saw an SMW show.
I felt that Dutch was great with all the crazy stuff he said :-D
Nobody in the wrestling business can cut a promo quite like Arn Anderson. He's one of those guys that when he talks you just gotta listen.
Too bad I couldn't get SMW in my area back then. I would have been a big fan. I was always a NWA/WCW fan and never liked WWF/WWE.
Wow, that was a great pack of promo's!
Arn+ The Rock n Roll Express = wrestling gold....no platinum.
I love Arn Anderson
This was wild! Dirty Dutch Mantell and Robert Fuller one of a kind. 💪🥊⚰⚱💰❤💯🎙
I can't even believe that the R&R Express would trust AA.
Damm, this guy's were dedicated, doing promos and working out at the same, prize less!
The life you save just might be your own. Love it.
I didn't know Philip Seymour Hoffman was an interviewer for SMW .
watched this every moring on channel 27 wkyt...kick ass
1:37 now all you Real Americans please rise, place your hands over your hearts, and in a clear and loud voice, say along with me, WE THE PEOPLE.
:p
All the feels when Arn tosses to "Ricko."
Wasn't Arn Anderson in WCW at this time?
I miss SMW! I used to watch it every week back then!
i cant stop watching it
@66yankeefan yeah cuz they put a lot of heart and soul in their performances in and out of the ring.
I was hoping Bobby will mumble something
Very nice to see a segment where all the wrestlers are still alive. (Lance Russell passed away and I don't know about the SMW interviewer guy) but All 9 wrestlers plus Jim Cornette and Les Thatcher are all still with us.
RIP Beautiful Bobby.
Tom Prichard was one of THE best talkers in wrestling...He reminded me of Roddy Piper alot...And he was the Rock of the Continental Wrestling Federation...and the Bullet was the HUlk Hogan.
Bruiser Brody,we miss you
This match was a great wild bloody brawl.
Whoa...Lance Russell in SMW?
The Mt. Rushmore of wrestling announcers. 1) Lance Russell 2) Bob Caudle 3) Gordon Solie 4) Tony Schiavone. I enjoyed them as much as I did the wrestlers!!
Dang, I miss Smokey Mountain Wrestling.
Damn double A could cut a promo.
Just a pumping those 10lb dumbbells!!!!
Ed Steger And That was just his wife
LOL
Pure genius . . . .when you get that DUI
Gotta give it to Jim Cornette he knew how to make a match seem expecting he hyped this match very well and gave the other guys their do
Territory wrestling is the best
@1mrslapzilla i forgot all about tenessee lee.. that was a short lived run
Who won? This has a typical Arn turn written aaaaaaallll ooooover iiiit and THAT gives ME the heebiejeebies
Double A Arn Anderson is the Man behind the Mic.
The second dude in the promo had a hell of a yesterday.
Those were the good old days!
Arn was great on the mic
And what about the Gigolo Jimmy Del Ray?
Bob Eaton does his talking in the ring brother!
Ricky was geekin bad here. He was all cooked out then
i remember the smoky mtn vs uswa fued ....tracy smothers cut some great promos
That's the match where Gibson busted his ankle
Lol when Arn mentioned the DUI Ricky Morton eyes became big as saucers thinking is he talking about me.
Some of the single greatest tag teams and tag team wrestlers to ever be in a match. If we could have fit The Fantastics and their partner Steve Keirn or Tommy Rich in there. It wouldve been near perfect. haha
We The People
I Wanna Know When Arn Sent His Heart on Vacation in the Cayman Islands, if It Was On or Off Season?
now i have to watch the match!
The Talent here is crazy Dirty Dutch, the Stud Stable,Bobby Eaton,The Havenly Bodies ,Double A and The Rock Roll you could have ran this tape as a promo class
You are right this is a classic elite promo.
Not sure if it was this one but one of the rock and roll express brike their leg at a Pikeville shiwing. I was their yiung little kid way back then
Smokey Mountain was pretty good, it's a shame what killed it was not getting a national television deal.
This 7:00 clip was more entertaining than the last 20 years of the WWE.
