So everything that's Happening, even tho it's not in the manga, it's called an expansion, and it's canon. Both the anime and manga are canon.
They always do a recap before the REAL fight. Luffy vs Kaido Law and Kidd vs Big Mom Zoro vs. King Sanji vs. Queen All these fights had a mini fight in the first episode, recap the second, and full budget fight in the third.
I love Vegapunk's very conclusive sounding theory of Devil Fruits being exemplars of what people wish to be or what they want to do/become!!!!! Even more so them being unnatural to Mother Nature is why DF users are weak to the natural sea!!! I guess when Zoans Awaken, they all gain that fiery smoke ribbon on their upper body; and moreover when Zoans awaken, there's a chance that their Zoan Creatures would completely take over their users; like the Impel Down Jailer Beasts.
That also makes me wonder if Yamato was awakened as well, she has the same cloud scarf around her in her Hybird form. Although they havent confirmed that unfortunately.

It's great that they actually show the transformations in this episode, in the manga they jump from Akainu to Lucci already transformed pretty much. Also it's crazy in the manga we never had a full Luffy Gear 5th transformation sequence and the way it was portrayed in this episode was nothing but absolutely amazing, I'm just gonna take it as canon lol

I would reccommend rewatching the fighting scene when Vegapunk was explaining devil fruits. I did so and rewatched the impact frames and it was hilarious!
