The color process is at 5:17 - a simple way to get that vibrating color effect. This works if you already have a black and white illustration ready, since the values are carrying the image to begin with. The color is the easy part! *edit* Mathilda painting by Yanjun Cheng www.artstation.com/artwork/aO30X
Color hacks for me that I just found recently is painting grayscale and just adding a bunch of different blending layers with different colors. I never knew how to paint color over black and white until now and it's so much fun. I always saw people do it and always wondered how and now that I know I can't stop
you can also use a total white layer and set it to a color layer, this way if you add a layer beneath that one it'll automatically turn to greyscale and thus youre able to very easily see the values, you can play with color as much as you want as long as the value is right. Once you then delete the white color layer youll see very interesting colors and this can lead to new color palettes and techniques you wouldnt really have considered so yeah def try it sometime
When designing shapes, do you already consider the form that it would translate into? or should you think of the form after figuring an overall shape design for the character?
Hey, so I remember in one of ur videos you explained what to do if a reference image comes out on it's side/upside-down. Unfortunately, I can't remember the video. I'd like to keep using grafit studio references, but they seem to not end up right side up.
That is the most epic thumbnail I've seen in my life
True
Honestly

Ctrl+Y also isolates the gray channel, so you can flip between grayscale and color pretty quickly like that too

1:29 question: why emilyena work works so well despite having low value contrasts and barely having saturation in some of them?
Marco bucci has a video explaining how colors work, with that video i think you will understand why emilyena color pallete's work so well

I've got a question: I'm considering buying med's map and was wondering how much is taught about concepting specifically?
Only one lesson toward the end, it’s mostly a painting fundamentals course
I'm at the point where I'm really tired of my day job and want to at least make some money with my art 😩
