These podcasts are great. I would like to hear your take on Newcastle. The recent upturn in form following the Man City win and the introduction of Almiron to our attacking threat is great, but with a takeover unlikely to materialise there's still this huge uncertainty over the future of the manager, our main goal threat Rondon and some of the midfielders at the club.
Russell Maguire I know u probably don’t care wat i think but.. I think rafa is crucial for Newcastle, I think they would be a relegation team without him. Also I think a lot of people slept on a Almiron just because he played in mls when in reality he looks like a top prem midfielder at the moment. And they gotta secure rondon, I think he’s on loan. They finally have a classic #9 that actually guarantees 10-15 goals a season
This was an awesome podcast to listen to, especially since we don't get a whole lot of media coverage. Seb seems to be very knowledgeable of the club as well, particularly for a Spurs fan. One thing I would say in response to one of the last questions in terms "What midfield role does JWP fit?", my answer would sort of a Frank Lampard. I'm not saying he's as good or will ever be as good as Lampard but he's more of an 8 than a 10 but has the ability to occupy those dangerous positions higher up the park to continue attacks or create chances, sort of an 8.5 is how I'd prefer to it. Did find the discussion regarding Prowsey very engaging though. Definitely going to keep an eye out for more Tifo podcasts, because this was great. 👏👏👏

Very enjoyable talk about my home team, from an ex-pat Saints fan in Australia... Dan Under is a pseudonym... John P born in Bitterne, Southampton and a Saints fan since the early 60s... and yes, that makes me old ;) 70
As a lifelong saints supporter of 35years I can safely say we have always been a stepping stone club for players and managers. The only decent player we ever held on to was the legend ‘Matt le tiss.. Rather have more consistency in the championship rather than the mercenaries we keep recruiting and leave us at the first sign of future opportunities... 👍
As someone who doesn't really support an english team heavily (aberdeen fan myself) do love to see the emphasis Saints place on developing young players either through the academy or bringing them in and selling them off for major profit. Sad to see players do jump ship when they can, be good to see you guys be able to hold onto talent and climb up the table
Thats why Ward-Prowse is one of my favourite players, has had the chance to leave to a top 6 club for a good 5 years now but he wants to win with Southampton
You guys do an awesome job, and the in depth analysis is appreciated. I am an arsenal fan from Kenya and I want to know if fans from say Africa, Asia, Middle East, North America, Europe, what is our effect on strategic decisions at a club such as Arsenal. I know that maybe we do not contribute much in Africa due to purchasing power disparity but do we get a voice in EPL club decisions?
It takes me a long time to edit the noise down to a place where it isn't awful - that's why I tell him not to! (Also, we're just joking around really). - Joe
It ain't Obeezy He was brought in on loan because loan deals can be done quick, it was needed to beat deadline day. There is a term in the contract that Saints MUST buy him at the end of the season. The price has already been settled however.
@Rich Olley Mistakes happen he is still very good and relatively young. From what I hear he is doing well at Celta despite the club being in shambles. I think its mainly the playing style of both Hughes and the new guy that doesn't suite his style of defending and he is more of an (upper) midtable style of defender then scrapping against relegation type. Control possesion, bal playing defender then no nonsense center back. Maybe if they survive and get some strengthening he will get a chance next season.
Great podcast. Loved the JWP talk, though I wish my boy Gunn, Taggarrt (who lives near me), Hjoiberg and Redmond was discussed more. Redmond more than Ward-Prowse is a player who has turned from utter rubbish into a genuinely a useful, fast forward with improved finishing-even more awesome given the poor lads admitted to suffering depression and nearly quitting due to injuries and lack of play time. As to Ward-Prowse, there was recently an interview he did where to discussed the same things you guys suspected; namely Hassanhuttle told him to step up, tackle more and be more physical. He is certainly very articulate in it, though not as much as Hjoiberg, who always comes of as a philosophy teacher in his interviews. On another note, I wish more was done on the elephant in the room; namely that, for all the player improvement and use of youth talent, fundamentally our players simply are not good enough. Ings is a lovely man, but relying on his injured legs for goals is ridiculous-especially at the buying price. Eylenoussi is even worse-surely one of the biggest transfer busts of any team this season. Utterly useless really save speed, no strength, no finishing. Worse, rumour has it our clubs targets our either Adam Llallana (!)-showing they learned nothing from Ings last year-or more likely Che Adams-a championship prospect I can see struggling in the big leagues. All this stems from years of skimming off our best players, terrible recruitment and quite frankly terrible ownership since the old boss died. Other than that, great stuff.
Hey guys, I know it's a long shot but wondered if you'd consider having me as a guest on a future podcast? Really into football as my channel will show, let me know!

@@Tifo I've already watched it. Amazing as always. Though, I would love a podcast over teams outside of Prem, especially, Bayern. Thank you for reaching out, really cool!
Hassenhuttl is doing a brilliant job at Southampton. Brilliant guy, and even if we go down, having that man at the helm gives all of us confidence.

Almiron is a bum. He will either be in the championship or back in the MLS within 2 seasons

You could also add to that list Jack Cork, Surman and Clyne, Pelle and Jay Rodriguez

Fair enough. Spurs stole our chants, why not all our other info too ;)
So this is where the Podcasts began.

Time for Southampton to overprice their players if Liverpool keep coming for them.
Well, van Dijk cost 50% over the then-world record for a centre-half. So I guess they've done it already?
