Hey guys it's Barratt with the Gimpy Camper. As a lot of you know I'm a huge fan of the Tireminder products. They have reached out to me and asked if I wanted to be a part of their new affiliate program. Of course, I said yes. Now you guys can always count on me for full transparency so let's go over the background here first. I have received a couple of tireminder systems in trade for an honest review and I've also gotten a Tireminder Compressor which I am currently working on a review for. As far as this affiliate code, it's my understanding that it only works at Camping World, either online or in person. Now let's get to the nitty gritty... and do a review of the tireminder systems that I have been using for multiple years. In my truck, I still use my trusted TM 88C. I had started out with a 66C which I bought from an individual who got it on a clearance deal. Then Tireminder saw and sent me a TM77. Truthfully, I never had any issue whatsoever with the TM77. It worked great and on our way home from Myrtle Beach it alerted us of a fast leak. Luckily we weren't on the interstate at the time and pulled over where I found a gash in the sidewall of the tire. This is the moment that I became a believer, as if it were not there it would have been a blowout for sure.
After they sent me the 88C to review, which for the most part had the exact same functionality with a couple minor differences, I did a giveaway with the TM77 and I hope that the person who one it is still getting great service from it today... and would expect nothing less. While using the 88C I was on my way home from New Orleans, which oddly enough was a New Year's trip, just like the Myrtle Beach Trip, when the Tireminder started beeping and stating that there was a leak. I was able to pull over at the side of the road and after evaluating the tire pressure and looking at the tire I didn't see any problems. Truthfully, I didn't spend very much time evaluating the tire, which was probably my downfall. I got back on the road in haste and everything seemed better for about 10 minutes, then the Tireminder started alarming again. I was about 1/4 mile from an exit as I was trying to get off the interstate when I saw a cloud of smoke in my passenger window. I got the tire changed and made it home. In hindsight the Tireminder was correct and I was wrong. So next time I will evaluate things a little more seriously. After this incident, I removed my Goodyear Endurance Tires, which were still probably ok, but I upgraded my axles, springs, wheels, and went to 16" G-rated Hercules tires, which were so stiff that the guys over at Village Tire in Cleveland had a hard time getting them on the wheels. One had gotten stuck and it took about half an hour for them to convince it to get on the wheel.
