Holy shit no words describe how good this is. Black Thought is finally going to get the recognition he deserves as one of the goats period no debate. All he was missing was a classic solo album and here it is!
One can only hope he finally gets the ultimate and final recognition. I’ve been preaching about his superiority to everyone around me for 14 years. Like you can have a top five, but Black Thought really surpasses that. He is his own league, a legend in the flesh. His lyrical skills is absolutely amazing, and studying his progress for the early Roots days to where he’s taken himself now is astonishing. Black Thought is not only a rapper and a lyricist, but a prophet in its deepest definition. We would ALL be better off if we learned by his story in life, no matter who you are or where you come from. Tragedy turned triumph
I'm tearing up, man. Dangerous Thoughts was an album rumored almost two decades ago, and now here we are. Black Thought and Danger Mouse dropping a classic in 2022. I'm shook.
I remember BT teasing a solo album around the 2000ish time frame. Can’t remember where I read it back then-probably the okayplayer boards, but at the time, Thought was saying he’s gonna do a solo album called Masterpiece Theater. I waited to hear more news as far as a date but, ultimately, it didn’t happen. About ten years later, BT again talked about a solo album that he was planning on dropping called The Talented Mr Trotter, and once again…nothing. By that time, I had already accumulated so many non-Roots BT songs, remixes to Roots songs, guest appearances, etc. But yo-did you ever hear any Money Making Jam Boys albums? There’s two of them, I think, but the second album, “The Prestige” is dope af. The group consists of Black Thought, Dice Raw, Truck North, STS and PORN (terrible name. Good luck searching for any of his work). Thought does some heavy work on that album. And have you heard his Streams of Thought projects? Peace
What do you expect, it’s Danger Mouse lmao. One of like 3 producers who don’t just make amazing beats, but make the bars spoken sound like poetry. Only others who come to mind are Madlib and Kanye/Pusha.

Black Thought reminds me of a character on an old Final Fantasy game. He's been gaining levels for years right before the final boss, and he's learned every spell and has maxed out every stat. He's always been good, getting better with time (and more experience), but now he's finally done it -- he's reached "Level 99."
Absolutely. You can feel the energy of the mission he is on in his lyrics. Advancing human intelligence, a ruthless attempt to take minds out of the matrix and put into a birds eye view of it while connecting history from literally the year 1187.. 850 years later he’s got all the tools to put the human mind eons ahead
its been a LONG TIME since a single has made detour past a record store on the way home from work to make sure I preordered the LP, cant wait for august 12... Great work to all involved, I am obsessed.
It was only a week or so ago that I first listened to Black Thought. While he's new to me, he's a criminally underrated phenomenon. I tear up writing this today, as my soul has been touched. Thank you.
I think this is my favorite single from the album so far. Honestly one of my favorite singles of 2022 so far also. Black Thought is already a lyrical machine, but Danger Mouse might be making a classic duo here

Agreed. He has a certain signature and it has a tendency to bring new heights in the skills of any artist he works with as well. I personally call him Musical Midas. 💯🔥
How is this guy still going. He has been rapping like this for DECADES and hasn’t slipped any bit. He only gets better. The sampling on this track is pure genius as well.

Aquamarine Lyrics
[Chorus: Michael Kiwanuka]
Everything's burning down
When I close my eyes again
Enemies all around
I don't understand, my friend, my friend
[Verse 1: Black Thought]
We go from Lira to Libra, from cold water to fever
To World War III from the treaty signed in Geneva
The biology teacher said we used to be amoebas
The neighborhood preacher said we emerged from the ether
We converged from urethra and struck gold, eurеka
The morning star Tariq, I was born to be a teachеr
Whether scorpion or the frog, the nature of the creature
Is to evolve, though it's the savage beast we truly are
My words should be studied up in Berklee and Juilliard
All my bars is hard as solid gold bullion
My name in the Quran like the kingdom of Suleiman
You done lost your mind trying to call me a moulinyan
'Cause in 2-1-5 where folks fight depression
And wives pack protection, lives lack direction
I'm a king, I'm dipped in God's Black complexion
Survival of the fittest is the natural selection
Now, bear down on the scene like I'm Saladin
The stone courage esteem is aquamarine
You mask how you really feel like it's Halloween
Where they ask how you really feel about my machine
In a class that I'm only in
Alien, horsepower like a Mongolian
Tryna find soul again
But my thoughts corrupt the files that contaminate the console again
It's a shame, but I cannot complain, though I am not the same
My bandwidth is a canvas cut from His frame
When I present ideas, naked and unashamed
It's handwritten in Sanskrit on a 7 Train
Chorus: Michael Kiwanuka]
Everything's burning down
When I close my eyes again
Enemies all around
I don't understand, my friend, my friend
[Verse 2: Black Thought]
I've been through hoodies and sneakers to beepers and record features
Hustlin' nicks of reefer to tusslin' with the reaper
Sensory deprivation to ultimate synesthesia
Freein' our brothers' keeper from teeth of another creature
Breakin' and enterin' to the theater, the search and seizure
Is the worth of genius, somewhere between Earth and Venus
At her convenience, even non-believers make prayers
Haters and naysayers is buried in cake layers
I take day as a blessing and see the night as a lesson
Twilight is a message for me to write a confession
The matrix, a dominatrix seeking to be served
Ever patiently waiting with the demons we deserve
Better be willing to pay with every dream that you deferred
If the vehicle should swerve, learn to lean into the curve
After workin' up the nerve almost equal in size
I walked around with the iron for any wrinkle in time
I pay the piece of my mind for every nickel and dime
But never less than a five and never slept on the job
A killer dumped on your squad, yet never left the garage
When your God was close enough to see the flesh of his eyes
Get to the button and press, it's what the message advised
What's a threat? Behind a mess is where the testament lies
[Chorus: Michael Kiwanuka]
Everything's burning down
When I close my eyes again
Enemies all around
I don't understand, my friend, my friend

Makes me wish Portishead got on it. It’s so 90s I wanna platz. Love this isht.

Holy shit this album is going to be so good
One of the greatest hip hop joints of all time
Already a classic on my list
Black thought and danger mouse is a lethal combo
As a White old guy of 58 years I agree. Masterpiece
Black Thought reminds me of a character on an old Final Fantasy game. He's been gaining levels for years right before the final boss, and he's learned every spell and has maxed out every stat.
He's always been good, getting better with time (and more experience), but now he's finally done it -- he's reached "Level 99."
HIP-HOPs Gilgamesh. You wanna cross the bridge, you gotta be your best. Thought is a cavalcade of lyrics and expressions.
9999
His mic is definitely the Ultimate weapon🔥
He IS the final boss my man lol.
Absolutely. You can feel the energy of the mission he is on in his lyrics. Advancing human intelligence, a ruthless attempt to take minds out of the matrix and put into a birds eye view of it while connecting history from literally the year 1187.. 850 years later he’s got all the tools to put the human mind eons ahead
"I walk around with the iron for any "Wrinkle In Time"
Here I thought No Gold Teeth was good but every single they've released has been better than the last. This was crazy, can't wait for the album
its been a LONG TIME since a single has made detour past a record store on the way home from work to make sure I preordered the LP, cant wait for august 12... Great work to all involved, I am obsessed.
We'll gather here soon for this beauty of Song from FIFA 23.
I had the same hype as danger doom, black thought really reminding everyone that he is THAT guy
Tariq isn't human
Where the FIFA squad at??
We all know Black Thought is the goat but thumbs up so the world knows!!
DOOM is the goat, not BT
@@user-oq3in5pz3d I respect your opinion
@@user-oq3in5pz3d Doom’s gonna be on this upcoming album
It was only a week or so ago that I first listened to Black Thought.
While he's new to me, he's a criminally underrated phenomenon.
I tear up writing this today, as my soul has been touched. Thank you.
Yoooooo! Get in that BT catalog!!!! You won't be sorry!
20 yrs here
The Roots.. what an mc
Illadelphhalife is what got me bro welcome to the crew
Never been so excited for a album like this in a long time!!
"I walked around with an iron for every wrinkle in time." There so many levels to that statement. Literally the true elements of hip hop.
I think this is my favorite single from the album so far. Honestly one of my favorite singles of 2022 so far also. Black Thought is already a lyrical machine, but Danger Mouse might be making a classic duo here
Was here at 17k views before fifa before anything tik tok fkn knew this would be a milli+ song its still so smoove & content is next level. Black thought is filled with truth a top 3 in my book… mid 90’s baby here
Danger Mouse the Goat. Any genre. Again and Again. With Black Thought it's a wrap!
Agreed. He has a certain signature and it has a tendency to bring new heights in the skills of any artist he works with as well. I personally call him Musical Midas. 💯🔥
@@apersonwhoisaperson8163 INDEED. every song, you can hear his unique style - it's dope
How is this guy still going. He has been rapping like this for DECADES and hasn’t slipped any bit. He only gets better. The sampling on this track is pure genius as well.
This album is already a classic before it’s release. So much fire. Thank you Danger Mouse and Black Thought!🔥🤘❤️
As someone less than even moderately interested in rap/hip hop music, this is awesome.
No needless profanity, great tempo, unique lyrics. This one's going into the playlists.
Black Thought really been top tier for 20+ years. 🐐shit right there. I really wanna hear a collab with him and Nas tho🙏🏾how dope would that be?

only the fact that Kiwanuka made a song with Black Thought & Danger Mouse is a huge fking W
I had no idea that was him this album is gonna be amazing
Danger Mouse actually produced Michael Kiwanuka's Love & Hate and it's a fantastic album. They go good together.

I also recommend DM's band Broken Bells, which they also just released a killer new track. The albums he produced with Norah Jones, The Black Keys, and many others are top notch too. But the big one not to miss in my opinion is his album collabo with Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs it's called Lux Prima. Happy listening fellow DM fans.
