Thank you so much for this video! I’ll be working on my first project and have been watching dozens of videos. Yours is just what I needed.Thank you! I’m going to look through your other videos to see if you have one for outdoor mosaics.
We are working on an outdoor video (House sign), expect to post next week. Remember for outdoor you must use the correct combination of substrate, adhesive and materials rated for your climate.
Bonnie. Great video. I might be nuts but I want to install a mosaic floor on my bathroom using patterns of our Plumeria, Roses and Bouganvilla for our yard. I think we can do this ourself and I am not concerned about how much time it will take. I need to research the proper tiles to use and cut and how to prepare the floor and how best to adhere the tiles.
Pre Covid I was scheduled to depart for your beautiful country today! Trip rescheduled for this time 2021, perhaps we can meet! Thank you for being a fan.
Thank you for this video, it is so helpful. I know you used glue here to attach the tiles, but could you use thinset as an adhesive (after sealing the mdf)? Thank you for your time.
Lots of options! The internet is a treasure trove from stained glass patterns to royalty-free clip art - do a Google search. Or you have a photo or some image you like, let's say a picture of a fish, trace the basic shape using tracing paper- You don't need a detailed drawing, just a guide like what Kim demonstrates in the Mosaic Table Top using Glass video. Make larger on a photo copier. Great question!
I have a question. I thought that one had to be super careful about any glue getting between the tessera or left at the sides as the grout would not stick to glue. But I see that there is always some left as you are demonstrating with the Cinca. It is very hard not to have a little excess and trying to get rid it with toothpicks etc. invariably moves a tile a bit. So, can I leave some??
Grout sticks to most adhesives, especially thin-set and Weldbond. You want to have somewhat clean spaces in between each tessera if you plan to grout. You can leave some, just want to not have any glue above the depth of the tie. Great question, thanks.
Wood can not go outside, your birdhouse would need to be decorative and be undercover at best. This video tells about sealing wood ua-cam.com/video/vskR7CCDsds/v-deo.html
I don't understand what you mean by "uneven", the tiles themselves are consistently flat. Can you elaborate? A grout haze is not uncommon, that can be removed with white vinegar. Good luck!
That is a very broad question, we have many videos on the channel that address outdoor projects, if you go to our playlist take a look at "garden art" , will give you some ideas. In a nutshell appropriately rated materials, substrate and adhesive for your climate. Thanks for being a fan.
If you are in the USA you can get a signed copy of both of my books from my website maverickmosaics.com/workshop/books/bonnie-fitzgeralds-guide-to-mosaic-techniques/ You can also get from amazon.com Thank you for being a fan!
Yes! Stained glass is a very common mosaic material and the channel has several videos about using stained glass. Mosaics are a great way you can use up that glass! Thanks for watching.

Well, this is beautiful, but I want general information, not for the way it was made, but general information about it. Where is it located? When it was made of what civilization is it from the Greek civilization or the Egyptians? Is it an Arab or foreign civilization? @@kimwozniak5663
