  • In this video, I answer a question that definitely had me puzzled for a while... What exactly is the difference between distortion, saturation and overdrive?

    What do you use on an 808 bass then ?

      For 808s, most commonly I would reach for Saturation just to beef them up a little. If I was layering with the 808 though then I'd probably go full distortion depending on how heavy/gritty I wanted the sound. It's whatever feels right to you at the time though depending on what you are trying to achieve. I would avoid using too much distortion on the 808s themselves if you want the sub to still come through clean and powerful. Layering is key I think. Hope that helps!
