id love to see an off the grid lets play!! I'm kind of thinking of combining home chef hustle and off the grid farm style playing to have a little market or something
I combined off-grid cottage living with home chef hustle & it's my favourite save to play! So relaxing & cosy, running a lil farmer's market at the farm, doing embroidery with the llama wool & selling those too from one of the selling tables if you have packs with those! 😊
I love that idea! In my legacy save one of my sims is currently working on making a cottage market with the retail system where I am trying to get every type of llama wool, every type of egg and milk, every canned good, and a few other hand made things stocked up to make a store with the get to work retail system. It’s so much fun.
Eco Lifestyle, Cottage Living and Horse Ranch are my favourite packs for exactly this reason. I love playing with the off-the-grid, simple living and wild grass lot challenges. Making your own furnishings can be a bit challenging due to limitations, but dumpster diving can give you a fully furnished house if you want to avoid "buying" things and be Freegan too.
Yeah I did similar when Eco Lifestyle first came out. I made it a point that I can't buy anything that can be crafted. I did rags to riches too so I had to start with literally nothing. I think I gave my sim like 1 empty shipping container style building to start with just because the empty lot looked weird. From there it was all planting things and dumpster diving. Once he started to have a family I got more lenient on the rules of it, but green energy and growing food was always the main rules until the heir took over.
I’m having so much fun playing a modified Apocalypse Challenge rn - in addition to the normal restrictions I went with Off The Grid, Polluted, Simple Living, and using candles/knitting/dumpster diving/woodworking to make household items. My poor sims have been diligently working their way through lifting all the challenges and it’s been great! The roleplay is what Sims is really fun for, imo
@@veronicamoongazer If I remember correctly I used the lot that has the container house already then deleted 2 of them and just used that. Any interior walls I bought. Sims 4 only seems fun to me if I play it like it's kind of a survival game. Any other way the game feels so stale and lacking.
I never think about what time it is in other places for people! For me it’s 7 in the morning and I watch her daily video getting ready for the day! 9pm seems so foreign as most UA-camrs upload in my mornings
When Eco Lifestyle came out one of the first things I did was a rags to riches where it was off the grid. I made it a rule that I can't buy furniture either. If it can be crafted it has to be crafted. The only exception was dumpster diving for furniture - I could use that stuff as well. Was one of the only times I actually enjoyed playing Sims 4. My sim didn't work and instead just grew things and lived in refurbished shipping containers with crafted furniture. I'd absolutely love to see you do similar.
For anyone who plays with mods, I highly recommend the SimCo Canning Factory mod. Canning on the stove is so slow for how much you get each time. The mod take the cupcake factory mod and uses it as a base for a canning factory. It goes a lot faster, you can make some non-canned items, make your own flour and sugar, and package eggs and milk into cartons. I have a family farm store save that would be such a pain without it.
I was about to comment the same. I think this mod is one of the best and most underrated utility mods for the game. as goofy as it looks, the output is much more realistic. In real life if I'm spending a few hours canning, I'm getting well over a dozen jars out of it- not just two sad single-serving items like in the vanilla game.
I was just looking for a way to make my own flour and sugar because wow, there is no way to DIY that in the vanilla game but apparently "trading" chickens and cows for meat is doable???
When I played with Cottage Living I made a very cool produce stand/grocery store with everything I could make that you might buy in a grocery -- including fruits and veggies, milk, eggs, cheese, fish, meat, prepared food (like a grocery store deli and bakery), all the types of canned goods, flower arrangements and plant starts, also llama wool. That's honestly the only time I've bothered with the canned stuff! The grocery was SO FUN.
If you do the off the grid, let's play, I highly recommend downloading Ravasheen's Craft more items mod. It lets you make things at the woodworking table like kitchen counters and bookcases etc. you can truly furnish your home with things you have made.
I want an off the grid let's play so badly now! I get intimidated by the idea of doing that kind of play, so it would be cool to see how you tackle it because I tend to use your videos as guides when I start exploring new parts of the game.
OK SIMSIE PLS HEAR ME OUT! Rags to Riches with lottery!! You can edit the calender to have a lottery every day and have 8 Stanley's in a household. They can be a weird gambler family and also I know lottery isn't a big thing gameplay wise but for each ticket you have to spend 100 simoleons and having 8 Stanleys in a household would be Hard to do you have to earn money for it somehow and that could be the funda part between lottery entries! I don't know if the game has any other gambling system. So if there is you can use that to earn money for the tickets!
I really love the Canning and Simple Living option and trait that came with Cottage Living because it made gameplay super fun for me. That extra realism is something I put all of my Sims through :D
I've been playing some farming games lately and thought how it's silly that in this particular expansion we can grow almost everything but have to keep buying sugar and flour. As if they couldn't have given us sugar cane/beet and wheat to make lots fully off the grid.
would love to see this attempted with a proper retail store. obviously that requires more packs but you could probably make good money with a markup! 100 simoleons per jam?
Unironically love the canning feature and use it all the time. My usual gameplay is off the grid farming and home chef hustle selling goods, living my cottage core stardew valley dreams
I would love to see an off the grid lets play. Even more if Stanley got a shout out or reference in the series, like you could have him living in the same neighborhood.
i'd love seeing you do an off-the-grid series! i enjoy off-the-grid gameplay, but i've never done more than used it for an excuse to use solar panels. i've never tried going in-depth with cooking only what i've grown or used crafting as my only source of furniture (or clothing?). and while i've had chickens and cows before, i usually sold the eggs/milk. so i'm right there with you in being tempted to try a game where i do that (that's a lie im more than tempted, im doing it rofl)
I see canning in the menu and do try to use it, it's very useful, especially with gardening. I really should use it more but it's really time consuming. Absolutely we'd love a lets play!
For canning its best to buy a stall and sell it at 300% markup. I used to make 1000s selling lettuce conserve ( from oversized crop). Lettuce and watermelon ones were customer fabourite. Also once you have a stall you can run a sale anytime anyday at any weather! Over time you build charisma and make over 5k per selling event
Canning is so interesting For what's worth Most canned goods BY DEFAULT turn in a great profit just from what making one costs Specially if you do simple living lots Mushroom conserve has a stupid high profit margin
I usually don't comment on youtube but I would actually kill for that off the grid lets play. I've been hoping you would do something like that for ages! Maybe it could be a mini legacy? Or maybe actually play on long lifespan until the founder dies? Idk but I'm really excited at the idea, I love your gameplay vids
Hey Kayla, first the off the grid lets play sounds amazing! Also, for more Horse Ranch/Cottage Living themed fun and a rags to riches idea- what if you see how fast you get Stanley Humphrey can get selling Prarie Grass (and more importantly, the stuff you find within the grass). I'm telling you, the nectars you can find in the Prarie Grass are *mad* expensive, I once found one worth 10,000 simoleans when i was first starting out in a Cottage Living save. Making sure there's lots of prarie grass around your cottage or ranch is a great way of making money, and you can feed the hey to either a horse OR a cow.
I think an off the grid let's play would be really cool. also, I think that you would really enjoy the sims in bloom legacy. so, you should also try that out!
You should look into the Simsdew Valley Challenge as a Let's Play concept. I've been wanting to do it but haven't had the time. It's pretty cool from what I recall.
Yes, do the off the grid lets play! I did a crafter legacy like that! The first guy was a rugged forrest man determined to build his house and everything in it with his own two hands. Then he left it all to his kids. Eventually they built a museum on the property to keep some of the best pieces as they grew out of it and renovated. Highly recommend!
Would love a lets play like that. Would love to see you combine eco lifestyle, cottage living, and horse ranch in some way. They all compliment each other well. Like you can do canning and nectar making, use the fabricator and woodworking table to make furniture. Maybe even nifty knitting to make your own clothes with the wool from the llamas (i think you can do that i don't remember). It would be awesome! You don't have to make it this complicated but something along those lines would be fun.
I'd love an off the grid let's play!! That's also my favourite way to play the game, I totally get that, so I'd be so happy to see you embrace that side of the game and make it into a series!
My "Off the Grid" experimental play turned into a Super Sim. I had a Sim chillin in Henford-on-Bagley, making friends with her chickens, a llama, rabbits, birds, and foxes. She was a "free lover" after an N.A.P. made it totally fine to have trists with the neighbors...all was going well. And then the Grimm Event popped up, and she mastered cooking, gardening, gourmet cooking, and the Medium skill. She made friends with Grimm and realized she wanted more out of life. So, she moved to Glimmerbrook, became a spellcaster, married Clement Frost (for money. They lived separately),got a cat, fell in love with Morgyn Ember, divorced Clement Frost & married Morgyn Ember (who also didn't live with her), mastered her spellcaster abilities, became a space smuggler, then a crime boss, then moved to Chestnut Ridge where she was a Secret Agent, then mastered nectar making, juice fizzing, candle-making, painting, knitting, cross-stitching, and in the midst of all of that she developed a relationship with Caleb Vatore, Morgyn Ember died of old age, but completed their soul's journey and was rebirthed into Vlad's household. She then married Caleb, who immediately became UNattracted to her and was constantly losing relationship with her. She became a vampire, got a few more degrees, became a championship horse rider, then moved to San Sequoia where she had 3 kids with Caleb, and 2 kids with a grown-up & rebirthed Morgyn Ember. She cured Caleb and his entire family, divorced him, and he moved back in with them. The kids grew up and moved out, except her daughter who maxxed the Mixologist skill and reached the top of the Mixology career then got married and stayed in the house. She then moved to Britchester where she decided to focus on getting all the rest of the university degrees while juggling being famous. While getting a Starlight Accolade award, she met Kristopher Volkov and sparks flew. Caleb died, and she held a lovely funeral for him and kept his tombstone on her lawn. She eventually woo-hooed Morgyn to death, maxed the vampire skills and cured herself, then began a relationship with Kristopher Volkov. And then....a mysterious baby showed up on her doorstep. This baby has some very interesting traits as well as a very unique bloodline...
I do that kind of storyline often. I actually use a mod (Little Ms Sam) that allows to make all kinds of furniture from the game. I start out with a trashed shell and slowed improve it. It is a so much fun. I'd definitely be interested in that.
Yes pleeeeease do an off the grid let’s play!! That would be awesome! The simple living, off the grid / live off the land stuff is one of my favorite aspects of the game.
yes I'd love to see an off the grid video! I've improved my gameplay thanks to you since I started watching your streams and videos when you post them and I did a rags to riches challenge thanks to the pie video with Stanley! Always love your content lilsimsie! 💙💙💙💙
Yes, off the grid lets play! I'm down to see that! Some cooking, planting, maybe selling??? And with domestic pets that would be even more interesting.
Off the grid is honestly one of my fav styles, since the game is honestly so easy without challenges. And gardening is rather broken on how much you earn from crops.
Ok id Love That lets play! Do one where you have to grow your own food, make money through things YOU make and can only sell to real people (in game or stalls). Making your own furniture would be an end goal and furnishing a house with stuff you make (maybe dumpster dive at first to furnish the house if you need to). This an as extreme farm to table rags to riches would be SO GOOD.
As someone who has made tomato sauce for “pappa al pomodoro”, yeah, it takes A LOT of time, and you have to hope not to destroy everything in the process.
id love to see an off the grid lets play!! I'm kind of thinking of combining home chef hustle and off the grid farm style playing to have a little market or something
It's hard but it's also funny
Yessss
You are in for an extremely hard time😂 But it’s really fun!

it’s so silly how excited I get watching a hotdog earning money

@@Eventide215Love using a 4x8 shipping container as a micro starter home for all the lot bonuses.
@@paige9869That sounds fun! I’ll have to check out the rules.

yes! every single day at 9pm, not a minute late lol

YESSS YOU SHOULD DO AN OFF-THE-GRID LP :3
love this, been doing it for weeks now!! As an FYI if you have home chef hustle, these cans sell for tonnes of money!!
I don’t even have that and you can still earn really good money selling them with any yard sale table, love it! 🙂
Especially the cowplant jam!
YES OFF THE GRID LETS PLAY
canning is so underrated… i love cottage living
@iamJasmiine Cottage Living is definitely a sleeper of a pack. It always surprises me how much is functionally impacted (in an additive way)
@ rightt!! it gives me an opportunity to live out my early decade legacy dreams with the hardship of farming!!
17:45 omg please do it

Yes Yes Yes on the mini lets play! I love that idea!!
You only have to be home before 5AM to get the plants to grow each day. As long as you make it home from 5-6 no problem.

Making your own furniture would be an end goal and furnishing a house with stuff you make (maybe dumpster dive at first to furnish the house if you need to). This an as extreme farm to table rags to riches would be SO GOOD.
Big yes to an off grid-let’s play! 😀
As someone who has made tomato sauce for “pappa al pomodoro”, yeah, it takes A LOT of time, and you have to hope not to destroy everything in the process.
Pleeeeease do an off the grid game play, I've never actually used that feature myself!
You should absolutely do an off the grid play through!! Love your videos!!
Yes Kayla pleaseeeee do an off the grid let’s play!! I would love to watch that.
