Great vlog as always. I have made a bodice block and a trouser block which I use to alter commercial patterns so they fit me, love the embroidery anglaise ❤❤
Oh dear, reminds me of the time I decided to rush to town at the last minute, stuck on first pair of boots I grabbed, and shot off to Milton Keynes. Just over half an hour later I’m trying to look cool in John Lewis when I hear the piping voice of a little boy about 20 yards away “why has that lady got odd shoes on?” Aaaggghhh yep I’d grabbed odd boots, exit quickly very red faced trying to crouch so my trousers dropped down over the boots!! 🐾🐾
Lovely Zadie. I think it's very classic and classy in black. 😂Different leg lengths... 😂 That Vogue dress looks lovely, I always check length before u cut out as I'm 5ft 2 so I can save fabric. Hopefully you can cut off the extra and use as the ruffle just make more joins. No one will know ❤😊
Have you thought of instead of cutting off the length, take it up by putting in pintucks and then attaching the frill. The Pin tucks don't have to be narrow.💜
I love your plain Zadie. I agree about patterned jumpsuits as I’d like some plain ones. I bought the sew different wrap jumpsuit pattern ages ago at the stitch festival and it’s stopped me investing in the Zadie pattern, yet I haven’t made up the other one. It’s cut out in a bag as I found out the finished measurements and know it is too large. Your vogue dress is a pattern I have and haven’t made yet mainly because I procrastinate about the size to cut. I raised the neckline on the other vogue with a deep vee neck. Lovely sewing and fabrics as always Rachel 😊
Your looking gorgeous. I love the idea of seeing how you use your bodice block. Love the fabrics for Layla, maybe you could make a sunhat out of the scraps? I'am glad you didn't listen to Issac as the fabric is beautiful.I bet when it's finished not only will he like it but he won't realize it's the same fabric.
Great dress in progress. If the neckline gapes, one of the easiest ways to remedy it is to do a little running stitch at the extreme edge of the lining and catch a few threads of the fabric every inch or so and gently ease the neckline into submission. Doing so between the lining and outer fabric gives the best finish. Obviously if there is a lot of extra gaping, lifting the shoulder will be needed also. Hope this is helpful
Love the dress fabric, I'm sure it'll look lovely on. And with the Zadie pockets, you could put a short inverted pleat on the pocket to take out the excess if you wanted but I think they look fine
Love you vlog & your makes. I just saw a great tip to avoid makeup mishaps - put a silk scarf over your head and even when pulling a turtleneck over - you keep makeup off your garment!
The dress and jumpsuit look great!! You can always take some clear elastic, and stitch it to the inside of the pocket top-it will help keep it cinched in a bit. I've done this in the past with pockets and necklines, works nicely. :+)
Spaghetti! (straps) So annoying when a word won't come! I told my son that my orchid has 'gone to sleep' because the word dormant refused to come! Love your Zadie, Rachel 😍
Hi Rachel, I agree with you on the printed jumpsuits and pants, I feel the same way and I have donated my big print zadies and kept my plain linen ones which I enjoy every summer. However, I do enjoy (and reach for) the jumpsuits and pants made with ditsy subtle color prints. They turned out as versatile as the plain colors for me. But I am careful when choose said print, it has to be very ditsy and quiet colors. Give it a try ☺ All the best!
Thanks for the tip about the Zadie pockets. I’m just cutting out that pattern (from last month's Think Pink fabric) and will definitely reinforce them now. Your black version looks so chic and elegant.
Love love love your self drafted top! I'm all for making our own patterns, and I shall look forward to the video about it. Good luck with the other top you've planned! Lynne 🤩😍
Good morning what a lovely vlog to have a coffee with. Can I start by saying you look amazing your hair is gorgeous. Your fabrics for Layla are just wow she will look so cute in them can’t wait to see them. All you fabrics are lovely the FG ones are 🤩 Love the black zadie too thanks for sharing have a lovely weekend xx
I am glad you are not working as much, and can spend more time on your sewing. Your dress uses a lot of fabric. You wouldn't think so being sleeveless. I love the fabric you switched to. So summery. I love printed jeans, pants, wide leg pants and a plain top. I started wearing them in summer. Cigarette pants got me started on them. I wear plain ones in winter. It is just a preference thing, and when you sew you can make clothes exactly as you want them.
My sister and I both aren't comfortable wearing pant-type bottoms in prints either. My sister says it makes her feel like part of the upholstered furniture 😅
I hate sewing blacks/ navy blue or whites. I have a hard time making sure I have the seams together. You look great in that black, not everyone can wear black. I've seen people put a horizonal fish eye dart in the back for the sway back adjustment after making an item. Love the little white top, so cute. I love the Kaffe material. Someone said it's rhymns with Safe so that's how I remember to pronounce Kaffe...hope that helps. I love the eyelet fabric (embroidery fabric, you call it something different from me in the US). The little ditzy print would make a cute top for you and Layla. You could have matching tops...super cute.
I love your black Zadie Rachel, you look fabulous in that. Well done on your pattern drafting. Tge top is fab! ....That's the next level of wizardry that I would love to get to. 😊
I love your makes and your plans, looking forward to seeing the baby dungarees. Which pattern are you going to use? I think you look really gorgeous having lost so much weight. Might I add too much yoyoing is detrimental to your health which, being a nurse you will most certainly know.
Love that dress n jumpsuit
Thinking your fabric choice for SewFruity is the smaller scale lemon 🍋 print green background 🤔 clutching at straws here 😂

I converted the back pleats into darts for both my Zadies and they sit much more "smoothly" 👍🏻

I think your sew fruity is a white with lemons either the cotton lawn (lady mcelroy) or the double gauze
I had to laugh, I was sewing a black merino top tonight and you said “it’s no fun sewing black” 😮 I totally agree. ❤
Lovely vlog. I do think vogue make for ladies around 9 ft tall. I love that blue fabric though

Yes that’s it! Happens every time I vlog my mind goes blank!
So great to see you a few times on your channel this week - looks like your plan to work a little less is working out - great for us also!!!
I am guessing the blue viscose with strawberries and polka dots for your fruity sew.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful makes. Sew is Magical 😊
Thanks for a lovely catch up. Unusual for a man to underestimate length! 😉Have a great weekend with Layla. xx
🤣🤣🤣

Love all your makes and plans, Rachael. You seem in a happy place, which is great! I still haven’t made a Zadie, you have inspired me to have a go!
I really like your black Zadie, and lovely drafting!😊

Black is such a good color on you ❤ you are so amazing how you made that cropped shirt. Nice!
Sadie in black looks beautiful. I’ve never made one but I’m going to give it a try soon
Great video today x

Proud of you I love creating my own patterns.
I love the black Zadie, it is so beautiful on you! Also your other makes are gorgeous. Have a wonderful weekend with your granddaughter.
Rachel - I always love your makes.

Can you let me know what dungarees pattern you are going to use for your beautiful grand daughter please? ❤
Vogue patterns 165 cm to 168 cm
I love your black Zadie Rachel, you look fabulous in that. Well done on your pattern drafting. Tge top is fab! ....That's the next level of wizardry that I would love to get to. 😊
The top from Zara is like a pattern I have which is zero waste - Willow Dress by Common Stitch patterns (free I think)
Oooh I think I have that somewhere
💙🧶🌈🍓
You look amazing, Rachel. What dungarees pattern are you going to use?
Well I have one by little stitches but I’m toying with one by waves and wild as they have a sale at the moment
Thanks Rachel. I’ll have a look at their site ❤
Cotton halter top, real ‘70s would be cool too
I love your makes and your plans, looking forward to seeing the baby dungarees. Which pattern are you going to use? I think you look really gorgeous having lost so much weight. Might I add too much yoyoing is detrimental to your health which, being a nurse you will most certainly know.
xXX👍👍👍
