How much of it is the player vs. the pickups? I'd love to see that guitar played in some other styles. At any rate, You can't go wrong fattening up a Strat IMO.

Player has nothing to with tone. It’s all in the gear.. get some!
Seymours are the bomb. I've used four different double coil models. My Duncan's are all beefy, versatile work horses. Love em.

Actually... technique does affect tone... but your Amp and processors will make up the lions share of your tone. Pickups and the wood of the instrument have only a small part in the tone, but a part none the less.

I love every Duncan I've installed in my guitars. But my only single coil is a jumbo magnet Schecter pick up i installed in the neck position of my 72 Ovation Deacon. I've got a Seymour Duncan Custom in the bridge. With my coil splitter and phase switches, she has a broad tonality. So many voices before processing.

You can just take a guitar with stock pickups, and EQ in the tone and gain on the amp.
Or just get a Les Paul
