As a Puerto Rican from New York City, I ask that you keep the heritage of Latin Music alive. So sad to know that if you do not share your knowledge, the next generation is always going to be one step behind the eight ball. Abrazos,

My name is William Q. Sanchez. I am the producer, writer and director of the Images/Imagenes' Golden Age of Dance: The Palladium. It has been a real thrill to see that the television special has been seen around the world. I do want to congratulate your SalsaClub organization for keeping the opening and credits on the program. That means a lot to all of us. Please continue to bring the cultural essence of our music to all your peers. Salsa is well at Cal State University Fullerton. Palante Amigos.

Nice to see people are still interested in this great Era. My father was a bass player with Charlie Palmieri. JOHNY Pacheco. My mom was a mambo dancer. Great documentary.

The historical content is great. The content about modern productions belongs in a separate video.

Once I saw a documentary (not this one) on PBS about The Palladium. There were lots on interviews with past dancers who must have been teenagers at the time. There was one dancer, wicked New Yorker, and as she was telling her story she was living the dancing and the club and her youth again. It was beautiful. I never knew this music or this dance. During the interview there were songs playing and she was remembering the songs too. And there was this one song that I recognized. I got the sense when they played it live it must of threatened to blow the roof off the club. It was very “African”, if you will allow, and the rhythm and drumming built and built until it was all encompassing. And I’ve been trying to remember or find that song off and on ever since
What are some of the most exciting songs from that time that crossed over enough for white boy in the white suburbs in the 70s to recognize in some part?

Mambo word comes from the Congo tribe in Africa tribe that Arsesino Rodriguez is descendant.it's mean answer me. They used it when they were playing and singing . When one of the singers finished his inspiration he said " mambo " so the other man responded with another inspirational phrase.

As much as I enjoyed this documentary, one glaring mistake was made in it. The mambo, as dance, was first a major hit in Mexico, where Damaso Perez Prado was revolutionizing Latin American music. Mexico City was the first epicenter of the mambo, which radiated throughout the world through Mexican films. Simultaneously, Cuban, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Venezuelan, Colombian bandleaders toured the world spreading the mambo's popularity. It was, also, the continuous movement of Cuban artists between Havana and New York that brought the mambo to the US. Let us not rewrite history.

Is this a different Palladium then the Palladium club in NYC in the 80s and 90s.

Yes it is. The original Palladium was at 1698 Broadway and 53rd St. The Palladium nightclub from the 1980s was in lower Manhattan and 13th Street, near NYU.
