    This is such a touching video - the passion and love Nikkiko has for the farm really shows and is so inspiring. I can definitely relate to some other commentors on how farms like Matsumoto and the produce they sell are just so different and of better quality than what you can find at a supermarket. I would happily buy from farms like Matsumoto over supermarkets any day but sadly, finding places that sell are getting so much harder

    Despite being in the hands of the fourth-generation owner, this is still a true Japanese farm. They're doing the same steps done for those gorgeous melons, mangoes, and apples that are very expensive in Japan. And that sun-induced coloring: the reason why Japanese apples are consistently red or gorgeous is because workers go through all the trees in an orchard and turn each fruit so all sides get equal sun. Crazy. But that's the Japanese way for you.
    Also, did Rie's ladies get to meet Andrew's? Did they all go to the spa at the same time? These are the questions that need answering yo XD

    • @federico3652
      @federico3652 2 роки тому +4

      How do they turn a fruit without dislodging it from its stalk? Or without having it turning all the way back into its original position? Also, on each apple tree there are hundreds of apples...how do they manage to do that daily? 🤔

    • @nanoflower1
      @nanoflower1 2 роки тому +8

      @@federico3652 With the sort of fruits that the poster was talking about those hundreds of fruits are trimmed back to tens of fruit. So each one will grow to maximum size.

    • @federico3652
      @federico3652 2 роки тому +1

      @@nanoflower1 Ok, that's one problem solved. 😂 What about the turning part, then? 🤔

    • @marcusa3177
      @marcusa3177 2 роки тому +5

      @@federico3652 the sun moves too, so the fruit doesn't really need to do a 360 degree twist, and they also trim the leaves around the fruit for maximum sun exposure. Check out the Journeys Across Japan series in NHK World for that

      @@marcusa3177 Yes, but I still don't get how they twist an apple without risking it to come off the stalk or without the apple turning back to its original position. 🤔 But hopefully the source you suggested me it's going to explain that, thank you very much! Wow, just wow. This video is simply beautiful.
    Not only were the farm owners really enthusiastic about their profession, but they were also very knowledgeable and explains their story in such a detailed way.
    The colors of the video are a feast for the eyes, from the pastel colors of Andrew's kitchen to the soft/pale colors of the farm footage, all just very aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and blends really well with peach colors in mind.

    I loved hearing the story of these orchard growers, my dad grew up on an orchard but unfortunately it went bankrupt much like this could have been. It's bittersweet hearing how things could have been and I always wondered how my life would have been had I been raised with the family trade like this. Now the land my grandparents owned is being developed into new suburbs, it's weird seeing the new houses and my grandparents old house in the background up on the hill frozen in time. I'm so happy these people could keep their trade and their passion and pass it onto the next generation, I think people don't realise how much love and care goes into farming and take the food we get for granted 🍑 this also made me crave peaches, I can't wait for the coming summer!

    What a beautiful video. It's important to change the way food is perceived. We see it in the market ready to eat and forget all the wisdom and hard work there's behind. Knowing all the time and work it takes to have a peach in our plate makes us appreciate it and decrease food waste.
    Not so fun fact: US is one of the top countries that waste food.
    *Qué hermoso video. Es importante cambiar la forma en que percibimos la comida. La vemos en el mercado lista para comer y nos olvidamos de toda la sabiduría y el trabajo duro que hay detrás. Conocer todo el tiempo y el trabajo que se necesita para tener un durazno en nuestro plato nos hace apreciarlo y disminuir el desperdicio de comida.
    Dato no tan divertido: EE.UU. es uno de los principales países que desperdicia alimentos :(

    This was an incredible video, certainly one which is just loaded with information. I see people blindly pick their produce in the supermarket without understanding that most of what they are selecting is either near rotten or very unripe. The manner in which the trees are respected and pruned to give the best fruit is poorly understood by most modern farmers. The mass cultivation of one cultivar best suited to shipping is almost tragic. I rarely buy any produce from supermarkets and finding produce stores which stock quality product is getting harder and harder. One of my favorite memories as a child is going out into the yard and picking a fresh apple, biting into it and having the juice soak my shirt. The fruit just off the tree is alive and shares a flavor that is not present as the fruit is stored. The same holds true with the tomato, a fresh picked tomato is a completely different food item than one that has sat in the refrigerator for a week. So much produce is grown for appearance and storage ability than flavor. Thank you Rie and Andrew for the reminder and the Masumoto Farm for still growing fruit as food rather than product.

      Butternut squash: peel it, cube it, roast it with cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg, little bit of oil. About 40 minutes? So easy, so good. It goes great with rice and chicken or fish, and it reheats so well! If you get an acorn squash, I like cutting that into wedges or slices and roasting it with nutmeg and Parmesan cheese. 😄😋

    Where do I begin? I am a fan who started watching worth it, and then i went into looking for each cast to see if they had their own channels. I eventually fell in love with worth, and through that entire series I can say, the crew has done an amazing job. One of the reasons is because I think I got to see crew grow. More specifically, I think Andrews growth shows in his respect towards food overall, from his methods of work executing any particular recipe, his mindfulness and care when it comes to food, and the interview questions for those business that the crew is show casing. It’s honestly such a beautiful and enlightening an experience when the person you all interview shares personal stories; in this case a daughter/grand daughter who is 4th generation? Wow. Ty @A.T.E., keep up the great work! Blessings ❤️🙏🏼💯 !!!

    LOVED this. Thank you so much for making this video. I have such admiration for the Masumoto family, they truly embody and live the American spirit.

    Thanks so much for making this video! I was definitely curious to hear from folks at the farm after Rie's previous peach video. So glad you went back to the farm to film more (or edited existing extra footage) for this part 2. :)
