The fact nobody from the pageant came out to take heat off of Steve is ridiculous.
Because he had the majority blame. He herp a derped it. I worked in production several years. Plans don't just change on the fly like that and especially live. There is a gameplan, and you stick to it.
Then after he herp a derped it, he didn't let the ppl whose job it is to damage control, do their job. Nobody to blame but himself.
You want to be a man about it? Cool. Let them fix it the next day. Release a *personal statement* apologizing, bring Miss Colombia on your show for more damage control, and move on.

I love how transparent that Steve is and I absolutely love and appreciate how patient, respectful and considerate that Shannon is and allows his guest to talk without interrupting. I’m so happy for the outcome of Steve’s honest mistake and I’m even more happy about how God keeps His hands on Steve and keeps on blessing him endlessly and preparing even MORE tables for Steve right in the presence of his enemies. Salute to Mr. Harvey. I've had my criticisms of this man but he earned his position. As a grown man it's important to hold yourself accountable and humble enough to take the blows because it'll make you even better as a man. I took a big step seeking therapy last year and conduct self therapy daily. Peace Unc. Keep up the good work.
I’m glad I watched this. It never crossed my mind that Harvey did this deliberately. Harvey always seemed like a good person. I just assumed that he half assed the rehearsals which was still a bit upsetting.
Now I’m upset that he took the bullet for a bunch of cowards. I’m happy to see him bounce back from the situation the way he did.
Sounded like Steve messed up and not really the earpiece guy. The card already has the names in the slots for 1,2,3. Steve said the right name for 3 but the wrong name for 2. So obviously the remaining name will be the wrong name for 1. The earpiece guy was basically facilitating the proceedings of the show. He did not have the card with the listed order, only Steve did

And why wouldn’t they have someone else with that info. *SOMEBODY* knew he read the names wrong or the earpiece guy wouldn’t have known to tap in when he did, so whoever had that realization should’ve been specific
Steve is owning that his thumb was covering the corner of his card so he’s owning that he messed up and was on the wrong card…
if the guy talking to him on the earpiece was the one that realized that a name was read wrong, then he should’ve said “read the second name; Miss ________ is the winner, over”
And if it was someone else standing next to the person in Steve’s ear, then they should’ve done that; told the earpiece guy to tell Steve the specific winner and not just “second line”
Obviously there are multiple people that contributed to this fiasco, and Steve is absolutely one of them, but there was at least one or even 2 other people that could’ve/should’ve been able to prevent this from happening even if Steve biff’d it
Steve shouldn’t have been the only one to take the blame but oh well
@@TheMulToyVerse If, for example, the order of the placements given to Steve was written wrongly, I think it would have to take more than what was told to Steve in his earpiece to relay that.
A mistake of that proportion would have to have required a more explicit way of communicating that info. I think the name that was written in the corner of the card was the 2nd runner-up, as the Trump lady wanted all 3 names called instead of the rehearsed 1st runner-up and winner. So that was immaterial in the grand scheme of things.
However, what I got out of it was, it was a regular backstage prompt and not an indication of a mistake on the card. I do think Steve unintentionally read the wrong name as the winner and that his "fall guy" excuse is a bit of a reach. I do however think, although he seemed to regret it, that the best thing was to cleanup the mistake right there and then instead of waiting till the next morning. The rightful winner celebrated all-night long and that wouldn't have been the case had that not taken place.
Colombia's anger though is more borne out of emabrassment because the judges, which Steve was not, placed them second anyway regardless of the mistake being made or not.

It’s more so the “lady that worked for Trump” that changed things at the last minute, didn’t follow what they rehearsed, and didn’t fill in the slots on the card correctly. Nice try to keep the blame on Steve though, as if the pageant staff/committee or whatever couldn’t have made a mistake.

This is big. This particular conversation should be put in all major broadcasting and social media sites. We, filipinos don't actually know what really had transpired and happened behind the scenes. We still think to this day that Steve Harvey was guilty from the scene and we just moved on. This will clear his name.

His name was literally every where in the Miss universe world and other platforms. What he is saying is completely true. Billions of google searches, thousands of UA-cam videos etc. I saw comedians like Jamie Foxx making fun of him. It was serious. Phillipines and Latin American countries literally worship Miss Universe. Some of those girls dream about making it all of their lives. Steve's name was literally everywhere lol. Phillipines and other Asian countries were looking him up because they liked him and Latin American people were trying to get rid of him. Yea his name was everywhere.

I honestly don't recall (and social media gonna be social media so that is noise) during all the fallout from the mistake hearing it was Steve Harvey's fault. It was one of the all time great fails in the history of television, and almost impossible to believe Miss Universe could some how mess up announcing the winner. WTF?
Steve Harvey's face was on it, so he got a lot of ridicule, but that's not the same as blame. That goes with the territory and it's one of the downsides of being the star of the show. I'm pretty sure the "guy in his ear" wasn't pulling down anything close to what Steve was getting for the job, so there are upsides too.
Though it hurts, he made the absolute right decision. If left to the next day, the pageant would have thrown him under the bus and he would be on the defensive forever.
