- I'm an Australian married to a Somali man living in Hargeisa with my 5 children.
Each week, I will document my challenges and triumphs while living in Hargeisa Somaliland.
On my walk through the streets of Hargeisa, I share my tips for anyone thinking of relocating to Somaliland.
Leave a comment or ask a question, and I'll be glad to share my experience.
Love Samirah x
Keep doing the inspiring stories and showing people around the world what’s like to being a western family in my home town Hargiesa ❤❤❤❤
You're totally right my sister I hope your voice got heared by the government's institutions and by the people as well⭐️ before the civil war in Somaliland ladies used to use this bags for shopping especially morning grocery shopping. I hope you put this inciative forward even this could bring a healthy income for the most volunrable ladies if they got employed to make these bags.
Maa shaa Allah Samira, you are doing a great job of taking care of the City. May Allah take care of you and your family.
You're very amazing with your all great efforts for raising the awareness of people towards the the cleanliness of their city and the awareness of getting clean and greenish environment , which both will play to provide a great of amount sustainability.
Thanks Mrs. Samira
So helpful thnks for all you do......
May God reward you good you and your family thank you
Great idea, thanks for making us to understand the root cause of people throwing trashes and plastics on the streets May Allah bless u your good deeds and the knowledge you are giving to our people jazakalah *( i will try to do the samething when i go back from Norway EU to my city Mogadishu, Somalia which we are having the same problems _ it is a world wide problem _ i even watched a documentry about Brazilian people throwing trashes on the streets, river etc it is a real inviromental hazard )
This is so true 👍
Dear Samirah, I'm very impressed by your videos, your effort, and how you and your family managed Hargeisa with all its quirks! it requires indeed effort and understanding, and sacrifice of many things we take for granted in the developed West. Insha Allah we'll get there one day, in the mean keep creating memories as we remember them and not the time itself.
Masha'Allah
Well done sister mashaAllah
Masha Allah 💝 Very Inspiring
Mnshalah ❤
ManshAllah this is great topics you raise. I have been living hargiesa for about a year now and one of My main concern is road safety especially kids playing on the road without any awareness the danger.
Agree
Agreed with you about all the garbage on the sides of the road and plants. Breaks my heart to see the goats and animals eating plastic while trying to take from the trees. And then of course, we are eating those animals thereafter.
Anyways, loving these updates and I'm hoping to see Hargeisa get cleaner and cleaner. I'm in Hargeisa for some time and hope to run into you soon! Take care, assalaamu alaykum
Maashaa allaah wll guulayso
Assalamu alaykum Samira, you mentioned Schooling your Children in an American Curriculum, please share it with us the online system and its cost as we are expats. Thank you.

@@SamirahJees Thank you so much sister. Jaza ki ALLAHU Khyra. That's really very kind of you and this will help us a lot. Thank you again.
regarding waste collection a suggestion best idea is to keep a separate bucket for dry waste and another for wet waste
Wcs samira ❤❤👍
Mansha alah You are amazing❤
Assalamu alaykum Samira! Love watching your content! I'm a Somali lander living in Canada. I support you on the need to clean up Hargeisa 100% and like you said you really need to frame it in such a way that will make everyone take ownership over the cleanliness of their hometown. Somalilanders are very patriotic and I think if its framed as part of loving their country it might take hold. I think what the current mayor is doing is great and definitely a noticeable change, from what I see online. When I visited when I was younger they had placed big barrels on the sides of the main streets to be used as garbage bins but people had sadly stolen them...
I think starting with young children might be an excellent start for you. Maybe start campaigning at local schools and build some sort of cleanliness campaign for them whereby the school aged children are responsible for certain chores within the classroom to maintain the cleanliness of the school. Like a let's all do our part type of thing. People are very used to certain people taking care of cleaning things that they are almost too prideful to do such work themselves and I thinks where the mentality needs to be changed. Everyone needs to do their part!
Pray that Allaah bless your efforts in doing good 😊
Again love love this initiative, this is always what I said I would do when I come back to Hargeisa!
Somali people rarely see white people. I think they are shocked, interested, and a bit ignorant. We might come across as stereotyping, but we Somalis are descriptive people. Im glad you are enjoying it 😊 ☺️
Thanks samiira
Ah I just miss summer 😂the sun is healing 😊
New sub, Hargeisa city here we Go🎉
Welcome
Machaallah dumachi
wcs samira
Assalamu alaykum Samira, hope the best for you and your family. It will be a good idea if you start a GOFUNDME campaign for the Somali Lady Traditional bag instead of the plastic bag. Enjoy your stay.
There is someone for everyone...I met some wonderful somali people, but living there I'd be terrified lol (media probs)

Samirah Jees , I think littering is long time bad habit in all somali cities but your idea of campaigning is really more positive to me.

Thank you so much!
What is the point about that
I mean you say ahah there is new challenges just face it 😏
Have you lived outside your home country? I have many times its super exciting that why I do it, but my friend, it comes challenges that then equals knowledge, and that is my gift I can share. I can share that knowledge as others have shared with me, and it makes the transition more seamless.
