As someone who is just now getting into cards with both small hands and being a noob, i truly appreciate this video. I have a tournament on Saturday so i can’t wait to go with me finally having some sort of strategy to shuffle and not look like I’m struggling to hold onto a card lol
Figured i should jump back in and say i ended up getting 2nd! I’m really happy with how much randomization the shuffle got. I got there a little late so i had to shuffle and i really only got to shuffle 3 times and the cards were randomized like if i were to be shuffling the deck all day lol
I have incredibly small hands, like kindergarten children have bigger hands than I do as a full grown woman. I’m also terrible at shuffling cards so this seems way easier.
I don’t know why the creator speaks as though he developed this style of shuffling. I have been playing Magic for a decade, and people have been mash shuffling long before I started to play. If you have really small hands like me, you can use the table to support the lower edge of the cards, as you slot the corner of the other half into the side. I can shuffle 100 card Commander decks like that, with ease.
This is perfect. I have been shuffling my wife’s deck for her and this is a perfect tutorial! I use the table method when shuffling 100 card decks despite big hands.
This is the same method I adopted like 15years ago and I can confirm that it's a good one. It is however more likely to destroy those poor quality official sleeves that come bundled with elite trainer boxes than riffle shuffling, so if you're using those make sure to keep a couple of extras handy and doublesleeve the cards inside to prevent damage incase of breakage. Or just use different sleeves (or outer sleeves) of better quality, because the top priority should be to keep the cards in good condition. On the optimal number of shuffles, it depends on the amount of remaining cards in the deck. 7 is the optimal for a 52 card deck (eg standard playing cards), but for a 60 card deck I'm pretty sure the number is 8
This rly made me start shuffling. I honestly just squeezed a lot of times randomly and got trapped by 3 copys of the same card over and over at draw effects. I honestly feel a "resistance" everytime i shuffle but i guess that comes from me being unexperienced with the shuffle methode so far.
to be honest, I do mh mass shuffle exactly like that lol, I thought it was just second nature to everyone XD, I guess nowI know that I was botching my mass shuffles every single time!
Lol thanks man, quality content! I mean it, I'm terrible at shuffling, always have been ever since I started to play Magic 3 years ago. I don't wanna look like an ass at an official tournament and waste anyone's time just trying to lmao.
Really would like to see you guys do a "sequencing" or how to play better sequences during a match, which abilities to use in what order, why make one type of play over the othe cause I feel like that is what is costing me a lot of matches. Thank you and KEEP IT UP!
This is one of the better videos I’ve seen on this topic. I do a mix of both the cut and riffle shuffle. All my cards I take to tournaments are for playing not collecting. Most randomized is most optimal. Mash or cut shuffling is in fact not the best way to randomize. Riffle shuffling is always the best.
I do the mash shuffle backwards apparently haha i flip the deck over cuz i ended up accidentally sliding cards into sleeves while trying to shuffle and breaking sleeves haha
As someone who has been playing for a while, double sleeve your cards. I have used cards for years and still no signs of wear. Also I mash and cut shuffle. The sleeves I use are below Inner - Ultra Pro Perfect Fit (side or top-loading, I prefer side-loading.) Outer - Dragon Shield Dual Matte (any color, I prefer their black ones.)
I never knew how to shuffle and I'm testing this with topps sleeves (which arent good for shuffling) but it already felt really good, it works well for me and most likely many other people. Thanks!
so just tried to copy you, and when i stopped to just observe, i noticed i was doing your shuffle but with the hands turned around, guess ive been doing it right all along haha!
I oversleeve all my decks (so base sleeve and oversleeve) How do I riffle shuffle double or triple sleeved decks? The sleeves are really solid, making it very hard to bend the sleeves to do the riffle shuffle
I wouldn’t suggest rifling double or triple sleeved decks, just because it can ruin multiple layers faster. However, if you do, just start out by riffling each half a few times, and then mash all of them together!
I hate when my opponent shuffles my deck after I’ve done all that, like my shuffling was not good enough. Can I call a judge if someone riffles my deck?
You can't, and fortunately so. Don't max rarity your deck if you have issues with others shuffling your deck, but it's a way of keeping the game fair, with a method that sufficiently randoms your deck.
Riffle + mash just seems perfect to me, and AzulGG had also said 7 was perfect, a long time ago. So it's right that 7 shuffles is enough. Not perfect, but enough. (mathematically ofc)
Hey! Thanks for the video! Small question. For some reason, I feel quite a lot of resistance when I slide the cards in bottom first (at the point that you are entering the cards in the deck) but when I do it with the top first it feels way nicer, to me atleast. Is this damaging for the cards or is this also a good idea? Thanks!
Anyone ever touched the "greassy hands" problem, I normally start with a normal shuffling deck but after a couple turns the sleeves goinscreasingly sticky, no matter how much wash your hands, on every ame it happens, so i end up with many cards stick together. Anyone with come kind os cream os solution to that? :,c
What would you recommentd after a lot of playing when the cards start to stack, even if being shuffled 7 times as shown? Like i do the 7 shuffles and keep getting paired or tripled energies together in one hand?
Alot of the cards calling have to do with the amount of space between the lower cards, if you slightly pinch the bottom packet of cards you will create space for the cards to fall, then slowly move your thumb and pointer finger off of ghe cards in the top packet to have them gently fall, an alternative method would be to gently press the top packet into the bottom packet if you are unable to complete the bottom pinch
As somebody who is a purely card enthusiast getting into Pokemon, I watched a lot of cartomancy videos and the collections of pro cartomancers (aka card trick people) are FILLED to the BRIM with playing card decks of the same kind/duplicates. Why? They can go through a deck so quickly because of all the damadging shuffles and tricks they do! Not only that but cartomancers do not sleeve cards, they just get their favourite deck of playing cards with the best feel and art, buy hundreds of packs and run with it. Unless they also collect packs of limited edition decks. I never ripple shuffle even my playing cards for regular play.
my question is this, when you interlace them, you're saying to start interlacing them from the top of the mechanics hand, not mashing them into the corners on your left hand right? I've been doing that and it's ruining the corners much faster so this was helpful. will have to change my muscle memory
@@Controlled_Chaos_Gaming been doing this since i posted and WOW it's so much smoother and gentler on my cards. Even is faster because of it lol thank you!
Oh wow, thanks a lot this helped me so much. Now I can at least not look like a confused 30yo child throwing cards at random and show some confidence when shuffling instead.
Great video thank you! The cards seem to have resistance when falling down into the deck, any suggestions? I’m not sure how to get that “fan” motion you get, I do slowly let go with my finger but they all just stay in place.
We are glad you enjoyed the video! This took a long time to try to say in words and videotape and therefore some of the minor details might be missing. We suggest pinching the bottom side of the sleeves to help them fan out, you’ll want to pinch them with the crease in your left hand (non-dominant hand) this should create small gaps for the cards to fit right in
@@huiuiuHonestly no. I found that a new pack of sleeves magically started working. Not sure if the other pack was defective or if I just got better without noticing. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
Coming from yugioh the first time I saw someone riffle their deck i cringed. No one in yugioh does that, everyone does something similar to the cut shuffle in addition to pile shuffling. You pile shuffle once then cut shuffle to satisfaction.
In pokemon we like sufficiently random decks, so we riffle and mash. Pile shuffling isn't randomizing, it's stacking or reordering, so it's an illegal shuffle. I love making people cringe with a riffle shuffle cus it's not like the price of the cards are a concern, in pokemon anyway. In other tcg I can get it a bit tho.
In no way is Pile shuffling considered “stacking” if it was then it wouldn’t be allowed at higher tier events like Regionals, ycs, nats, or even worlds. It’s why he stated pile then cut shuffle. Played yugioh for over 20 years and that method has never been called into question. The way this dude is shuffling is awesome as well and works for those who prefer it, and vise versa.

Although not having two energies next to one another isn’t a great measure of randomness, hahahah

Hey, Good video. When you mention double sleeve. I presume you mean a clear sleeve then the larger standard protector coloured sleeve?
That is correct!
You mentioned that double-sleeving makes this sort of shuffling easier. I hadn't considered that before. What are the inner-sleeves you use?
so just tried to copy you, and when i stopped to just observe, i noticed i was doing your shuffle but with the hands turned around, guess ive been doing it right all along haha!

thanks bro!
Thanks! The one video i needed on shuffling. That technique is also used in the championships i believe? They do it so fast, but looks similar.
My card deck feels like a brick no matter if I put force or not. Idk what to do
Wouldn’t starting with the corners eventually damage them?
It eventually will begin to wear out the corners, but as long as they aren’t catching when you shuffle, they are far less likely to split!

do the top of your sleeves get wavy? Is there a way to avoid it or is it somethign I just have to accept will happen to sleeves?

Yes, and if you have smaller hands it is more difficult to shuffle double sleeved cards, but you’ll still eventually get used to handling it!
