I feel this is by far the best reverb on the planet period! and the delays are are perfect too. It really serves both purposes perfectly and all in one pedal. VERY nice review
The WET stereo reverb v1 was my first love. I still own two use them today. I’m really considering putting this on my new board. Thank you for this review
I ran an Expanse for years. The Neunaber verbs became just part of MY sound. I agree 100% on the plate, its my always on sound. Just puts the guitar in a beautiful space, isnt really that audible, but when you turn it off you instantly know why it was on. Also, the Expanse stuff actually is MIDI controllable via the Disaster Area NNB. It worked VERY well for me. Ultimately I sold my entire board and went Helix. 2 years now, no regrets. But im about to buy the Illumine because i miss so much the Neunaber sound. The Helix verbs really are awesome and im not unable to do anything really, I just miss the character and sound of Neunaber stuff. Great video here mate. Love the way you showed us various ways to use the Illumine here. Especially with the Microcosm.
Cool review. Just got the Illumine myself, and everything about this pedal is awesome...except the spring reverb and no spillover when switching presets.
as I find myself back here, maybe a tiny suggestion: I'd break down the sound samples in chapters. I guess it'd help people finding what they're looking for (I have no idea how time consuming it would be to do though)
That Tele, in “D” standard is destined to be in a serious, monogamous relationship with the Illumine. Hands down the punchiest, richest, juiciest, most syrupy cleanish sound I’ve heard you use. But seriously this is the best demo of the Illumine (and it’s vast capabilities) out there. It boggles my mind this wasn’t up on Neunaber’s website from day one of it’s release. I would have Pre-ordered one right away. LOVE this
Another inspiring, soothing and awesome video Mark! I know you don't like comparisons, but how would you say this stacks up to the Specular Tempus? The latter might lean a bit more soundscapey? Are they completely different beasts in your experience?
I have a Neunaber Illumine and i'm also about to pull the plug on a Spectacular Tempus. Both have strong reverb algorithms, but the tempus is also has extremely powerful delay algorithms inside of it. Both of them together on a board make an extremely powerful Reverb and Delay combo if you use midi.
Great channel, always such tasteful playing in a musical context and not just noodling. I assume this pedal isn’t out yet? Can’t seem to find it here in Europe.
Amazing. What I want to achieve is the ability to hear my wet and dry through headphones for rehearsal and just noodling/creating. What would you recommend? Two Milkman amps?
Did you know there is a way to MIDI control Neunaber pedals from Expanse series. You need a NNB controller from Disaster Area that does everything that EXP controller does but has MIDI as well. I still use my WET and loving it. Your review make me wanna try the Illumine though :))
I have the wet plugin and it does not have diffusion either, is the pedal missing a parameter or were you saying that you wanted the pedal to have that extra compared to the VST ?
Hi, Beautiful playing and excellent detailed demo, as always. But Wow, what an underwhelming pedal. Basically, a high tech box with very basic traditional reverb sounds. In 2022. Honestly a little disappointed in Neunaber.
I tend to agree..I have the Immerse Mk 2 and I love it..There isn't really anything in the Illumine that makes me want to get it...If I was to get another reverb it would have to be different and unique..but this is basically Immerse Mk 2 with midi capabilities with a bit of goodies thrown in.... Although I do love the Bloom mode,it doesn't justify me getting it just for this...
@@patrickr6505 Do you use reverb effects for just a little bit of ambience (do you like a subtle effects more than a dramatic drenched reverb sound)? I've also owned the Immerse MKII, and it just felt a bit weak for the saturated, ethereal reverb I was looking for. And when I would turn up the mix, it caused my dry signal to drop in output. The balance was just not there the way Strymon or Eventide does. I think it's just the way the pedal was designed, to be more subtle.
@@gregs6424 Oh ..I play Ambient Bass mostly so I use drenched reverb for that..Yes I know what you mean about the dry sound decreasing when you increase the mix knob on the Immerse..There is a sweet spot at 70% where it's good for me..I love the reverb sound from it .it's very dynamic and versatile so I'm a fanboy of it tbh..I also have the stereo CKK infinite reverb pedal on my board also..This has a much deeper powerful reverb sound..Also it hasn't got a mix knob on it but a reverb knob..so it doesn't lessen the dry mix like the Immerse does at high settings..So I have the best of both worlds.. The Immerse has a dynamic and lush reverb sound..The CKk has a powerful and deep reverb so Mixing the 2 together I can get Massive drenched reverb.. especially as I have a stereo set up..I would recommend the CKk..it's a hidden gem..See for yourself.. Listen on headphones!! ua-cam.com/video/N-xAhiLWbnk/v-deo.html Ps:Since your into reverb here is a tip for you to really get the benefit from it which you may or may not know..Place a reverb at the front of your pedal chain...You can get huge massive swirling tones if you have a long rich decay reverb setting with delay and modulation pedals after it....The sounds are much better and varied if you have a reverb at the front of your chain..

Still incredulous as to how I get to binge your video for free on here. Thanks for all of the music and content!

So far I’ve watched two of your videos, and bought two pedals. I need to stop watching these videos to save my bank account. Beautifully done.
So excited to watch this. In my opinion the Neunaber Wet is to reverb what the Klon is to transparent OD. Thanks for another incredible video!

This makes me miss my v1 shimmer from Neunaber… might have to get this pedal as my main reverb
Cool review. Just got the Illumine myself, and everything about this pedal is awesome...except the spring reverb and no spillover when switching presets.
Underrated channel. Hope that changes soon!

It sounds fantastic

Great stuff, loving the microcosm!
The Illumine sounds Sublime. The best I’ve ever heard in pedal form, thanks to this video, I’m ordering today, 👍

Recently out. I have no idea about Neunaber’s distro in Europe but I’m sure their site has a distributors list.

There is preset spillover, yes?
Does it come with spillover trail?

Sounds glorious! Was the Microcosm in reverse mode?
AWESOME DEMO! Very thorough. But if hear that three chord progression again...
How does this compare to the GFI Specular Tempus?
I have the wet plugin and it does not have diffusion either, is the pedal missing a parameter or were you saying that you wanted the pedal to have that extra compared to the VST ?
what are those midi plugs you're using?
This or Walrus Mako R1?
Depends
The struggle is real! This beaut or the outstanding cxm 😰.
