We have a seven month old that's about 80 to 90 pounds. I always try to play and burn off some of his energy before walking. I would do this almost every time. I would also take a lot of treats with us on walks and make him sit every so often. I know it helps our Akita when we go out on walks.

This is very useful. Im very nervous of my akita familiar service animal jumping on anyone who shows her affection. And she did good with one of my grandparents but she hasn't met my other grandparents and they are elderly with slowed mobility.

I've been told she is well trained. But as of recent we haven't had much outside time due to weather etc. So she was moor excited than I've ever seen. Can you do a short video on why they run in circles.

These ancient creatures are not the perfect pair for all huemans. Thats why all akita articles state they need adamant leadership training.

I have an Akita inu I took her when she was already 9month, so put my effort to make her get attached to me and perceive me as her leader, that worked but … she developed separation anxiety and as I leave her at home alone even for a few hours she sometimes freaking out trying to open the door, and when im back I see her scared and even just a glimpse of an eye contact (why im waiting for her to calm down to greet) can cause her to pee herself. It doesn’t happens all the time it’s like, once a month or so, other times she is fine and I don’t get what’s causing it. Thank you

I have a male 4 year old Akita, He is not my first Akita but is the first one that ever acted like this and, I need some advice. I was recently diagnosed with heart failure and need assistance with medical things in the home. He is a friendly loving boy, social and good with other animals. But when strangers come in our home, he jumps on them and pushes them, if they tell him down he will sit in front of them and growl. I will put him in another room and close the door and he will cry and claw to get out. He is so loving and friendly otherwise. How do I get him to stop jumping at strangers and behave if I have to put him in a room for a few minutes. I love my akita, he is my everything. But i need advice how to make him polite to guests and not raise heck when he has to be placed in a room for a few minutes. This is a much longer story than this but any advice is welcome. Thank you, Christine and Moosie

It's the fight in them - he may recognise you;re not well and be being even more protective than he otherwise would. Remember, Akita herded - kept the bears back until the hunter arrived - so the stand and push then contain (the growling) most likely comes from that breeding - esp as you're now sick. Really go back to basics with one aspect of training, like sit...and do what the most excellent guy above says. I hope you keep on keepin on Chris, stay as well as you can.

The biggest reason I dont like her jumping isn't because of making ppl fall. Its because I made the decision upon getting this breed that the best way for it to guard me and be confident akita is by not clipping her nails. When I first had her Id constantly get scratches. Some bloody but mostly not. Either way with me its fine. I dont want her unintentionally scratching random ppl. Or any family of course. 🇯🇵 akita rules the world.

I’m having an internal debate, I’m leaving for 10 days on an overseas trip and my bear loves his house but I’m thinking of leaving him at a boarding doggie achool (highly touted). I live at home with my mom who is a very strong woman who loves my bear and he absolutely loves her as well. I’m worried about leaving him with her because when he is under exercised he tends to be difficult to handle, not for me but for others. Any thoughts?

Amazing vid and popt up at the perfect time deffenetly wasn't looking for it but seeing the title in my feed made me watch it
Got an akita inu (not American akita) aand his literally jumping up also at little school kids as I am Livin in a city area now its quiet difficult to have a walk with him in certain times (school lunch brakes and such) I did still go to walking during those times to try to get him used to it but it's not really progressing those Tipps are amazing
As for other troubles he does I mostly used a squirt bottle as punishment (preventing to jump on beds and couches aswell getting nosy at tables workt wonderfull)
I held dogs before but it's the first time a dog has to be compromised of his natural behaviours and actually has to follow rules strictly so ima deffently watch more vids here.
As for harder punishments I am questioning my methods if it's coming to a city dog I try to go with a leashjerk but he seems to ignore it once he locks on he's a pain to deal with but slow progress is happening.
If it's something really bad like aggressively jumping to a kid he gets put in place by neck grabing and giving it a good jerk till he feels it (not to sure if that's the right or wrong way as I did that in the past with more wild dogs and it usually workt out well till the alpha chelange comes around)

Hi I have a 9 week old Akita mix he’s very intelligent. He’s expressing extreme dominant behavior mainly during night hours! I need some assistance with his particular temperament, he’s constantly testing boundaries and authority! He’s very vocal and tries to get his way with everything. On the other hand very sweet and loving however manipulative and cunning! I love him so much I don’t want to give up on him. Nevertheless I’m very exhausted I had him since he was a week old he was bottle fed and was injured and sick the first 2 weeks of life! It’s been a 24hr job! He’s already exhibiting separation anxiety destructive behavior! Please help! I could use some serious guidance seeing that he has somewhat of a bipolar personality and traits of his other side which is yet to be determined. I suspect some sort of mastiff 😳

Hey there Will my names Paul Johnson and I am honestly a huge fan of the Fenrir K9 Channel. Big fan of your work. I am a mega big fan of the American Akita. I currently don't own an Akita myself at the moment, but I have been trying to locate a breeder that has working American Akita's, as in bite work, hunting, and protection training. I do understand and am well educated on the history of the breed being a bit more naturally on the aggressive side. But I truly believe that the right owner/trainer is capable of raising a well mannered working American Akita. If at all possible may you please create a video dedicated to the working American Akita? "Bite work, hunting, guarding, protection dogs." I would be tremendously thankful if you are capable of helping prove that the American Akita are not only a powerful potentially dangerous brute, but actually an all around working breed capable of what so ever task their master sets before them. Thanks in advance. Sincerely a fan of your body of work.

Hi, bit of an out of topic question. I have a 9 week old Japanese Akita, female. She only weighs 3kg and I’m worried she may be underweight. She does not look underweight but I’ve read they’re supposed to weigh more at that age.

Hi Chelsea, thanks for watching! If you have any health concerns about your dog it's always best to chat them through with your vet as they are best placed to give advice and keep track of how things are going
