How is it that I'm hearing so much gunfire going off seemingly in the distance, while apparently enemies only spawn within a ridiculously small bubble around the player?
Because the people who claim the AI isn't in the game are lying. It's there and working, it's just not working perfectly in all the places :) But you can see it going on here, and it's brilliant when it works :) Now, they just need to get it polished and working EVERYWHERE and not just in a few places!
Also render distance and spawn distance are two different things. The game can spawn in objects and just keep them on like a "spreadsheet" and not render them until you are with in X distance. This saves processing power and enables the developers to do more things with less resources.
This reminds me so much of what I enjoyed about Witcher III. Lots of side-quests, yes. But also lots of "side-distractions" that were more than just distractions. The Division had an element of this, which I also enjoyed. Conversely, it's one of the most glaring features that I would have loved in Destiny which, as beautiful as it was, has a world that was almost utterly devoid of any interesting interaction outside the specifics of the current mission, strike or raid mechanic.
Honestly, Stalker 2 has taken over my life at the moment. If im not playing, im watching your content or other streaming content. Can't seem to get enough. Sometimes I take a mental note, and try and follow the content to a point. Because I don't want to spoil anything 😅👍
I'm glad you're enjoying the game. You're probably uncovering what so many of us diehard fans were so excited about with the game. Looking forward to them getting it all functional.
I am almost 40 hours into the game and only 4 missions into the main story. The meat and potatoes of STALKER has always been exploration and discovery, it pays off big. Some nice artys you working with there homey! Kinda sucks you are on a tight schedule to play until Jones comes out, first world struggles. 🤣😆
STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl in my opinion deserves game of the year even with the issues it has it's so much better than most other games, because this game is just so dang awesome.
Just wait till they fix the AI. It's currently completely broken, but in the old games the npcs would roam the map, take over compounds, hunt artifacts, and get in random fights way off in the distance and the victors would loot the bodies of their enemies.
@@SP7000SP Yep can't deny that. My guess is they did have it in before launch, but the performance with it turned on was so god awful they had to disable it to get the game out the door. There's a mod that re-enables it (mostly), but it absolutely tanks the already bad framerate.
I'm guessing you missed the fact that there was a fight going on as I exited the Cave In This Very video which shows that the AI absolutely is working, just not everywhere and not all the time. So it's not completely broken, it just needs some work
@@Renfail Emergent fights can still happen sure, but right now NPC's only spawn within about 80 meters of the player, so it's quite rare and unnatural. The old games would spawn them way further out, and would also simulate every other NPC on the map in an "offline" state where they weren't rendered, but still moved from place to place attempting to carry out preset tasks.
@@donald8940 It looks like that kind of stuff is in the code of the game currently but my guess is same as yours, that it isnt active and they were crunched for time to release the game so they put in a very simple AI mob-spawner as a placeholder to just have something. The A Life 2.0 system is definitely in the game files but it still needs a ton of work. I feel like this game is only going to get better with time and we will be regarding it as one of the best for the decade. Similar to how Cyberpunk had a horrendous launch but the devs never stopped working on it to get it to a level that it's now an amazing game.
@@Renfail it's not working enough I'm having fun exploring and shooting but random fights and better a.i would be nice now they spawn together and the don't even shoot behind cover
Have you ever been like Haunted in this game? I know there's poltergeists but I had a crazy haunting expirience. I killed this sniper then grabbed his loot, then there were people shooting at me but when I killed them and looted, they disappeared. I walked to the end of the hallway and I was back at the start. It was so creepy and well done and had me scratching my head if it was intended to be that way. There was also creepy as hell whispering and sounds going on haha.
There’s a cat like mutant which uses human voices. It also spawned humans that you can’t kill at least it’s what it appeared like to me. Every time I would shoot the enemy, it would block the bullets. It shows up like white sparks when the bullets hit the enemy
UK HERE as usual, when i start game after xmas now im going to see how far i can go wtih shotgun and some amour/supplies, try save as much as possible to buy/upgrade whatever i can get free :) going to to do lots exploring and avoid gunfights if possible untill i need too . anyway great chilled vibes video and chat will watch the new livestream playthrough later on, im going to get my head down for couple hours for rest, 10pm nearly here. anyway keep warm n dry mate, stay safe.
Sounds weird but Subnautica is made the same way. He's rewarding the player for his sense of curiosity, beyond the story path with keeping the player liberty and makes it evolving with gear. The only major difference is the dimension. In stalker you have to go North, in Subnautica you have to go deeper.
You just described my feelings about Elden Ring 100%. I think Im going to love this game eventually but in its current state, there are too many things that bug me. Im really struggling with the fact that you can hardly carry anything without hindering your ability to run. This wouldn’t bother me if I didn’t have to spend thousands of coupons on repairing my gear every time i return to base. Im in a really boring loop of mission-loot enough to pay for repairs-struggle getting back to merchant due to over encumbrance-pay repairs-no money left for better upgrades so try that again. I hope they fix this because this is my kind of game. An odd cross of Fallout 3 and Elden Ring for me 😀
Calling a bunker a dungeon is not that far off. Dungeons are originally prisons under a castle or a fort. The word comes from the French word donjon, which also gives us our English word donjon, meaning “an inner tower in a castle.”
Yeah from having to uhh reload a lot... (look sometimes you aren't as cautious with those anomalies as you should be) I've definitely noticed different scenarios happening with mutants, with different groups attacking each other. It really does make the map feel alive.
Money has always been in the Artifacts. It's the motivation for most STALKERs braving the environment. Armor? Sure as long as you're not over-encumbered and it's good enough shape. Guns? Almost never. Weight vs. resell value just isn't there. When it's time to move, the Stalker with the light pack is the one who gets away.
I literally just stumbled onto the same facility today, I was heading back to rustok from the forest and all of a sudden I started getting shot at from every angle by zombies, I was completely surrounded, then I noticed 3 bodies at the door of the place, and when I thought I had killed all the zombies, these guys get off the ground, I found a 4th zombie in a trench to the right of the facility and he had the door key, going in that place was crazy. total death trap. after I looted the safe I got jumped by 4 more zombies
Im 10hs in and didt go out of the first zone, i'm trying to find everything there first. I can count with the fingers of one hand the games that made me want to loose myself in their worlds
Xbox working well in both quality and performance mode for me too. A couple of minor glitches and a fair bit of pop in at distance but no freezes or crashing.
its not the game for me the aim assist and the fast travel are not what i thought it was for someone who doesn't have hours to spare just to walk to a location then die because the enemy is a bullet sponge is not what i call fun i hope they sort some issues out then i might play again
this game is a mess…the more you play the messier it gets, need a lot of optimization a lot of patches. Every npc has like perfect aim, and are just bullet sponges. It needs a lot of work

It was crafting that killed exploration in games, when you can craft basically everything there is no point in exploring.

What system to u have to play this game so well ? I cant make it work on my 3070 :(

And this is without A-Life fully firing on all cylinders.
