It was a privilege and an honor to lose to you guys in Nashville! Lol. You really are amazing! 17th doesn't sound as bad when the winner sounds as awesome as you guys do. Keep rockin it!
there's not overtones really (well, there are but that's not what you're hearing), it's just the chord. it's not barbershop one, you can hear the dissonance between the bari and the lead. it's some 9th or 11th chord or something.
i feel like the last chord they could slide up to a different voicing or something. That would be really cool. Like Tim Warick in the song "I Wanna Be Like You"
are you serious ??? The add9 is waaay better and they ring it so well...I prefer add9 to the too much used dominant7Th (in my opinion...) and I prefer add9 without using the min7th...well their version rocks !!
hmmm The 7th dominant on the chord you wrote sounds wierd to me...if you want a 7th it should be more a Maj7 ^^but anyway you're right the add9 doesn't sounds barbershop at all BUT in that case it sounds great because it is not expected !
Man, that's neat. I would've tried to put the bari as D-G-B lead as F#-E-E# so you can throw in a seventh. or vice versa: Bari D-E-B Lead F#-G-E# The add nine, as cool as it sounds, doesn't seem as cool as the old 7th. Maybe a (real) nine, with a dom7th would be cool, too.
It sounds cool, but it doesn't sound quite barbershopy enough to me. It sounds kinda like Whitacre or something. Lol we should post multitracks of it both ways, and let people vote!
@@joshywashy3453 Man, 15 years ago, I thought I knew everything. An add9 chord doesn't make something sound like Eric Whitacre 😅 I absolutely adore Ringmasters, and I wouldn't change a thing about their modifications to the David Wright classic.

I saw and sang with these guys at the LABBS convention last autumn. A really friendly quartet, as well as a really good one!! :)
huge huge fan!
This is a David Wright arrangement. But with a few tweaks ;)
Nice!
haha these guys performed at my school! they're great! lol
oh man you guys are good. please keep competing!

Overtones at 2:10 - 2:19
their lead, Rasmus Krigström does alot of their own arranging... Highly educated musician.

True, but in this one, if you concentrate enough...
You're Right though!
yes, does anyone know which arrangement this is?
man, when they hit that 9th chord, i'm hearing the bass note up an octave and i don't think it's being sung by any of the other guys. overtone much?
David Wright, with a few tweaks.

who is the arranger?
David Wright
hmm...no doubt...but this is almost the exact same arrangement that Four Voices sings except for a few different chords...

Jakob Do you not hear all the dominant 7th chords???
