FYI, oil quality for mono or polyunsaturated oils have a tendency to lose health benefits at temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit or when exposed to light or oxygen. For example, flaxseed oil when elevated to high temperatures produces varnish (aka linseed oil) for use in finishing furniture. There’s a significant quality difference in Barlean’s flaxseed oil and the Walmart brand. I say this from experience of a friend of mine and myself. Chemically, unsaturated fatty acids can cross link at elevated temperatures, plus oxidize and generate harmful, degradative fats. Saturated fats may degrade similarly. Any time you heat an oil from its natural source the nutritional value has a tendency to diminish overall. Notably, cold pressing may reduce production volumes.
I have a question two years later..does the hydraulic press qualify as a “cold press” machine in that case or will the hydraulics cause temperatures to exceed the levels required for it to be a cold press? Sorry if this is a stupid question. As i really like this machine for its efficiency and ability to press with power but dont want the added heat . Furthermore its hard to avoid oxidisation and exposure to light. I have been looking into ways to create an airtight environment in a potentially dark room

He would place seeds or olives on it and when the stone was pulled round and round by a mule a paste would form. The paste was transferred to flare baskets and placed in a flat press. The press would cause the oils to run out. Funny, I hadn't thought of that in two millennium.

Thyagu pugaz u can use linseed oil for everything. its the oldest culture plant in the world and produces both oil (pressed) and flax for clothes and fabrics. linseed oil is used by carpenters to finish their surfaces, by painters who mix it with homemade or storebought pigment for their various colours, its used in cooking and as a medicine. the flower petals are wonderful blue what else do you want.
