Your reviews helped me to choose a great pair of headphones. The Sennheiser IE 40 PRO look like they are some of the most neutral sounding headphones in your frequency response graph and they sound impressively similar to the EVE SC 207 audio monitors at lower volume, which are almost 9 times more expensive than the IE 100 PRO headphones, which have the same speakers and only a different cable and connections in comparison to the IE 40 PRO. I wonder how their graph will look with the new microphones. I think they are promising.
Thanks for doing an unboxing video for this. It’ll be interesting to see how the market is effected by this. Hopefully it’ll result in better tuned equipment but there’s still the problem of ~75% of an IEM/headphones quality being judged by frequency response alone without taking into account how, or even if, the tuning process effects the drivers performance (that’s a not so vailed hint for people to start measuring more than FR. At least in a decade or so once you’ve got your database updated).
@@saviour7431 yaaa he... is kinda oblivious... but could also be poor. there are lvls of poor. but if you're at the point of poor where you can save money for a iem worth 1k... you're clearly better off than the original comment, but also kinda an idiot.
I wish that the new rig somehow had the ability to swap out and assess different ear canal shapes & sizes. That would be something I would like to see explored.
i just want clone couplers for the b&k. would be great to have something that can handle high-frequencies without terrible peaking and without costing 20k lol
That small coaxial connector is called a 10-32 Microdot (or just 10-32 coax connector), the transducers are likely IEPE / ICP / CCLD powered (18-28VDC @ 2-20mA regulated).
A little recap of what to expect from the new database would have been nice, graph peoples said we cannot trust FR past 8K due to error margins and the nature of the freq at that region. What would make the new database more reliable? Your "Linus wasted 50k" video goes in depth with the history of the norms for measurements, its quite lengthy for what we are asking about here.
Looking forward to New Game+ measurements & fresh thoughts, especially for the effect audio x elysian gaea. No green screen, no AC, Black & Red theme = Git Gud. P.S. is the Mecha chair proper merch for Mecha Store or is it something you got as a perk?
Linus is kind of a dumb audiophile. No offense to Linus btw, I'm using dumb as a descriptive term not as an insult. But he spends most of his time being enamoured by tech and will only bother to understand it if he needs to fix something. This means he will get sidetracked and will stop looking into a particular subject and move onto another. This has resulted in him having some very big gaps in his knowledge on certain topics/somehow ltt has managed to slip past a lot of misinformation about audio on accident, repeatedly. I would not trust Linus on audio. Unless it's a simple observation like, soundstage is wide or bass is nice.
I deal with RF test and measurement equipment all day; you are actually really lucky those were both SMA connectors and one wasn't a 1mm connector. If it was you would of stripped that super expensive transducer.

Why does the rate of innovation appear to be slowing? This. Basically this. Spending an shrinking amount of time on breakthrough innovation and more on maintaining/supporting/improving existing technologies. At the very least, I think that's a plausible hypothesis which partly explains that observation.
