Hi Jon, My Thai wife and I have just purchased 1 rai of ex cow farm land in Mae On district CM, We would like to use the land as a teaching aid for the locals to learn about self sustainability as my wife is very interested in this area and has already completed several courses. We are wondering if you will be able to help us in designing a layout for the land, maybe you can use this as a teaching opportunity for others as well. Let me know if you are interested and I can give you my wife's contact details so you can discuss possibilities with her. Love your videos and look forward to meeting you in person hopefully.
It is good idea to be a learning center for local people. The best way is learning from many people and apply to make it fit with the land and her style. She will be herself.
Looks fun and simple to make. What are the properties of these bricks, are they strong, do they have good insulation or require special consideration when building?
Hi Jon, I bought your “Living With Earth” book and I love it! I had a question though, on our property we have sandy gravel soil with little clay. Should I skip using the straw because I little clay? Ty much!
Hello Jon. Thank you for you educational videos. I have been making adobe bricks on my own in Panama. I have termites in the ground on my land and I am worried that they live in my bricks and will eat the rice husk inside. What should I do? Thank you.
Most of the soil can be used for making bricks. If the soil has too much clay it will crack and not strong. If the soil has too much sand it will crumble easily. Any soil in between high clay and sand is good.
We use all kind of soil even top soil. We can build new top soil easily . Don't feel bad to use top soil and our top soil did not go away from our land. It is in our house when we take it down we can grow things as normal.
Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge !
I know it will help me a lot
God bless you

Straw is good fiber to make bricks strong but if it is hard to find it is ok to skip straw.
@@JonJandaiLifeisEasy ty Jon for replying back. Also do you sift out the big rock from your soil to make your bricks?
Hello Jon. Thank you for you educational videos. I have been making adobe bricks on my own in Panama. I have termites in the ground on my land and I am worried that they live in my bricks and will eat the rice husk inside. What should I do? Thank you.
Termites will not stay long when the brick totally dry they will go away and termites don't eat rice husk. Don't do anything just leave it like that.
Thank you ever so much. Peace and love
Hi Jon, what kind of soil are we looking for, building the bricks?
Most of the soil can be used for making bricks. If the soil has too much clay it will crack and not strong. If the soil has too much sand it will crumble easily. Any soil in between high clay and sand is good.
@@JonJandaiLifeisEasy Thanks to this information its a big help.
Do you need to use soil without much compost/ plant matter? So remove top soil?
We use all kind of soil even top soil. We can build new top soil easily . Don't feel bad to use top soil and our top soil did not go away from our land. It is in our house when we take it down we can grow things as normal.
@@JonJandaiLifeisEasy wow, that's an amazing thought. We can grow plants in the soil when we take down the house.
Thank you Jon
Is this water proof?
thanks sir.
I have small gravels up to 1 inch in my soil. Can they be used?
yes you can as long you can mix with straw or rice husk.
@@JonJandaiLifeisEasy thank you so much
Hello Mr jon I see again and again yours video 👍👍where if I won't to send you a message to speak with you or speaking at phone
what is this kind of soil?is it any kind of type of soil?
Most of the soil can be use if it is too much sand it will not stick together if too much clay it will crack. We want in the middle.
@3:00 that guy looks like arnold schwarzenegger from the predator movie.
How come you didn't add sand to the mixture this time?
Depends on the soil they are using. Some soil has a good ratio of sand to clay already.

What can we do if it is raining?
I think you get the day off ~ LOL
Put on a hat and raincoat, go fishing...
You need to make a canopy as it often rains in tropical countries
First build the roof of the house then the walls....this is one of the method used in raining periods, when need to build house.
