- “I'm heading into my mid 70s and I really want to just get into a novel and live inside it. No sense of hurry. No deadline, no sense that anyone's waiting for this. I don’t want to talk to anyone about it, but I just want to inhabit it.” Award-winning author Ian McEwan’s new novel, Lessons, takes readers on an emotional journey through the life of one man and McEwan joins us on the show to talk about aging, writing a novel in lockdown, what kinds of books make us cry and much more with Poured Over's host, Miwa Messer.

I was moved to tears too!
Ian M. Is a fountain of inspiration and insights. A joy to read and an equal joy to
Listen to.
Great conversation. What a good interviewer.
When lock-downs started and brought all those socioeconomical issues, I thought the silver lining of this situation is that we will have some great books written during the pandemic. It seems I was not wrong.
It is also nice to see Ian Mcewan disappears from the public eye from time to time and reappears, a little bit more weathered like rest of us, with a new great book. Wish to see him active for years to come.
Great interview. What is that book in the lower left hand corner? I keep trying to read the cover.
