Hi, Michelle! Thanks so much for your comment! It was so amazing to watch Leonardo climb all the way to Gold! So glad to hear that you're watching from Bali, Indonesia... it's a beautiful place! 👍🏻👍🏻

You are welcome! I'm so glad to hear that you are watching from Indonesia! Leonardo put up such a great (and FAST!) performance. It's so cool to see him take home Gold after all the hard work he has put in 👍🏻👍🏻
For sure! I'm so excited to see him taking home the Gold after his amazing performance and consistency all the way to the final!! Thanks for your comment 👍🏻👍🏻
Have you make a video abt how a nation only dominate certain category in sport climbing? For example like japan who succeed in B&L but not in speed and Indonesia who succeed in Speed but not in B&L? Also poland who succeed in women speed but not in men speed And how USA can dominate the both category with Sam Watson owning the WR, Raboutou took home a silver and sending 8 climbers (the only nation which sent the most athletes)
I have not made a video like that yet, but it’s something I’ve been considering! I’m interested to dive into some of the stories behind those realities that you mentioned. Hopefully I can put together a great video as a result… explaining how things developed to where they are now. Thanks for your comment 👍🏻👍🏻 It helps me know what people are interested in seeing 🙂
@@augustclimbing thank you for responding my comment. This idea maybe push you some times for research but i'll be patiently waiting for that content 👌
Indonesian here, i think one of the reason why Indonesia only succeed in Speed and not B&L is because lack of B&L wall infrastructure. Speed Wall is very common here and can be found almost in every Unis and some high schools. Meanwhile B&L wall only in specific place
I'm not really a fan of speed in general so I'm not the target audience, but it feels so rough to have this heat system compared to something like what pole vault or other sports have with 2 or 3 tries to put up your best time, or at least a speed wall that can take all 4 finalists at once so if you get the second best time you get silver instead of potentially going to the bronze heat.
Yeah, that would be an interesting idea to try and structure it differently. A 4-lane lead wall would be epic!! I'm torn on it because on the one hand it is brutal to lose a heat and be eliminated so quickly, but on the other hand it's also what makes it so exciting to watch! The winner has to be the fastest in that final race, but also consistent along the way. Thanks for your comment 👍🏻👍🏻
That's a good question! It may have something to do with Indonesia prioritizing the development of athletes in speed climbing specifically. I'd be interested to research that question further. Hopefully we'll start to see more Indonesian athletes competing in boulder and lead as well. Thanks for your comment 👍🏻👍🏻
I definitely wouldn't want to skip Mori Ai!! She did amazing! Around the 5-minute mark, I talk about how Mori Ai and Janja Garnbret both nearly topped the route and tied for 1st place in lead. Were you hoping I would go into more detail about Mori's climb? One thing I would have liked was to share more photos of her, but alas I couldn't find very many... except for that epic "time lapse" photo showing her climb up the lead route. Thanks for commenting 👍🏻👍🏻
leonardo's pace incredibly consistent under 5 sec each race, that's the key of his success
