Hi Fred, if one were to call you from high up in the French Jura mountains on the weekend, when would you be listening and on which channel would you do? it is pissing down rain here near Geneva but Saturday it is supposed to be better. I can do 4W CB/USB/LSB 40 Channel Europe, I could change to UK standard, and I have an extended antenna.
if such contact doesn't work I'll have to build a more backpack gear... with a huge antenna and some batteries.. which will take some time-- and would mean scheduling another time.
Hi Fred in the shed, how are you my friend.I just brought myself a icom IC-73 i hvn't passed my ham radio test yet so i can only listn to the ham radio at the moment. I am s*it scared of pressing the wrong button on it and messing the whole thing up. But It's a Fantastic bit of kit i must say. it's so clear. But if i hear you on the normal channels then i will deffo give you a shout. i was gonna have a YAESU TS-590s or the FT-950 a lot more easy to use. But radio world talked me into having the IC-73. but i must admit i am blown away with it to be fair, It was a bit of a bargain to be honest, £999. Plus £80 for two of my old radio's. anyway i will say 10 10 and 73's for now mate. And i hope to catch you on the other side good buddy. Oh and you have speedy this way my friend. we gone for now.
@@CB-RADIO-UK Thanx Fred, i have had a flick around a bit on the 28 and 29 meters and on 28.922 i had an American station coming in real loud for at least 5 or 6 minutes, it was really something. i heard him say where he was from and then he said good look and 73's and i am only on a thunderpole full size, But it's in the loft. anyway thank you my friend for getting back to me. DX to you also my friend.
Back in the day I used to love the look of those Murphy base stations but I think the brand put me off. At the time I bought myself a Rotel 240, I would love to get a decent one of those now but no idea if I would actually use it. The price of the 240s now I could buy a brand new modern rig with all the extra features.
Sorry but I’ve been busy but just watching your show now and looking great going through all the years. Cheers and beers Alan from Luton 💯👍
