As a non-nigerian i now understand why our Soso always said she wants to live in Abuja, it really screams her personality. So chilled,calm and peaceful. She doesn't like noise and busy busy environment.

As a former cabin crew, the lights are turned off for night flight, that is flights operated at hours of darkness.
Reason for this is, if unfortunately there is a mishap and the aircraft lands, it would be easy for the eye to adjust to the dark where obviously the plane would be. If there is light in the aircraft, there will be a blur and in situations like these seconds can make a difference, I don't know if my explanation is clear.
