Those "Drive-By" flights with goshawks, Coopers and Sharpies, were fun AF in the 70's. Now here in California, regulations were changed and no hunting of any kind, is permitted from a vehicle.🥴🇺🇸
@@bradgibson15 It's like in nature. The hawk is a cover hunter and also has a speed advantage in nature. Please do not confuse falcon with hawk. They are both birds but two distinctly different species
Thank you! Yes, they actually do! It gets more obvious later in the season when, for example, 5 cars in front of us can pass a flock of crows and as soon as they spot us they lift off. Very vigilant birds! But as almost always, one of them is not as watchful ;)
Thanks for your reply. Crows are super smart that’s for sure and can even recognise individual people. The farmer can walk across the farm yard and the Crows take little notice and carry on feeding but when I walk across the farm yard even with out my gun they shout alarm and all disappear. They recognise me from previous hunts and associate me with danger.

Kind of brutal on the crows... BTW, why would you hunt crows? They're not usually doing damage, like starlings and pigeons and robins/thrushes do on Berry crops....i guess, knowing how intelligent they are, I start to feel bad about hunting them for no strong reason ...
Unsporting, low class falconry of the type which could get the sport banned. No finesse, just smash and grab. Any sportsman of whatever sport should decry this.

Yeah, it's not a fair hunting practice. The hawk already has the speed advantage being released from a moving car.

There are too many crows but launching a goshawk from a car, crows really don't stand any chance of escape.

We stop the car on our hunts ...it makes the flight a lot more ariel thus testing the hawks powers
