I don't think that scandal really had any relation to this bad comeback. Even overseas here, it's not got much online attention.. despite others doing comebacks as well they should've blasted the charts due to fans, but almost every comment is that the songs themselves don't feel right. I think it was just not as effective of an album. For me personally, I love the choreography so much. it's so fun to watch, but I don't like it with the songs..
Changgu also to mention having a comeback early in the year is a perfect chance to take the spotlight, Everything seemed to be in place for AOA to dominate the charts, and in my personally opinion Excuse Me is actually a really strong title song, but knetz are punishing them really hard :(
the scandal defo affected them, they lost the public through that history scandal, and then lost some of the fans through seolhyun's dating scandal. if they had released even a miniskirt 2.0 right now the song still wouldnt fare well and the comments wouldn't be about the songs and would be about the mv looking cheap or something or the other. i do think they should have focused on one song for the comeback though. trying to split the attention between both songs in a trying time like this wasnt a smart move at all.

Literally as far as public relations goes, they were getting a lot of love and even the hype for the album was crazy internationally.. but on release, everyone was commenting on how it felt "incomplete" and didn't live up to expectation. Which I think is because they worked so hard on apologizing and trying to get in everyone good graces, people overhyped their new year return. Looking at this whole thing objectively, EVERYTHING was set up for them to dominate the charts, literally. But even Choa said they didn't expect people to love this vibe of an album, they just wanted to show they have more to them than their standard songs.
