Good effort lads, but judging from the large size of that permission and never ending changes in ground conditions, you could have turned up with Simplex's and still made finds on that day. Some of those finds barely a few inches deep. Manticores are great, but I'm yet to be won over with erratic and inconsistent VDI numbers and the pointless 2D screen. Advanced metal detecting is carried out with ears, not eyes.. The machines look amazing though and I love how bright, crisp and clear the screens are. I still have never owned a Minelab in 10 years of metal detecting, I wonder what they will bring out over the next few years
Yes it’s something we shall never know if other machines would have found them. The only thing we do know for a fact is I stopped going to that field. I could walk around it for twenty minutes or more without a signal. My Ozzy mate Bazza from @Rat Detecting on UA-cam is here in the comments. He came over last year and found nothing on there with his Vanquish which is as good as a Simplex. The screen is like any other screen simply a back drop to the audio. Although once mastered I think it’ll be of more use than most screens. In recent years I’ve owned a Deus 2 and a Nox. The Deus 2 I sold because it didn’t find anything more than my beloved Deus 1. The Nox I sold because I didn’t like the menu. It takes a lot for me to bond with a machine but I’m really surprised I’m getting on well with this new one after only two times out. I’ve mainly used a Deus 1 these last seven years. I don’t like Minelabs. I owned one for six years back in the day as my main machine and didn’t find much with it. The Manticore is the first one I actually enjoy using.
Great video Steve, I appreciate your down to earth honesty and humour - and interesting to see you all out with the Manticores - I too have not been able to get out much this year due to an operation, and I am still getting used to my Manticore but initial thoughts are I like it and it does give me confidence. I need to experiment with some settings so it was good to hear about the Beach to Land seetings, I will look that up. Cheers.
Congratulations on christening your new Manticore Steve by finding an awesome cut half! I was well impressed at the depth Rob recovered that airgun pellet from. I think everybody watching probably already surmised Sid would definitely find a hammered coin or something else equally nice! Sid makes awesome videos on how to set up detectors - he has a special knack of imparting the information in a very easily digestible manner without overwhelming what he is trying to explain.

You know when it’s deep the pinpoint can’t detect it. Generally I use this for really deep stuff. Been using general fast and 5 on the recovery speed.I find it a great machine but it lacks that little bit of almost analogue sound the Nox 800 had at depth.
