Sincere apologies for the audio hiccups during the interview. We set up a makeshift studio behind the NFL Network broadcasting booth at the Combine and some of the audio didn't sound the best. You can support Rich's fundraiser for St. Jude here: www.stjude.org/get-involved/other-ways/run-rich-run-nfl-40.html Hope you enjoy the interview!
Hey, next time you have an interview with him, can you ask Rich why he never issued an apology to Matt Araiza? You know, the guy he said on air he thought was a felon and that the woman couldn't possibly just be after money, even though it turned out she knew that the police had proved Matt wasn't even present? Somehow, he seems to have never addressed the issue.
I was checking my headphones the whole time! Great interview, though, I am a huge fan of both you and Rich, so getting to see you talk to one of the best in the business is so cool!
This is the kind of mentorship and “paying it forward” that makes shows so much more enjoyable to watch. For an established veteran to take the time to work with an up and comer is amazing to watch in any field, and it’s awesome to be along for the ride. Really awesome for Tom to do this for Rich. This Eisen guy has a promising future ahead of him.
Wouldnt be surprised to see Tom in the next two years as a common guest at NFL Network. Rich is his entry point. All the best Tom and i hope your success wont stop.
Tom will be obviously be an ESPN or NFL announcer (play by play) or a host , that is if he wants that job. He is actually more talented than most of the talking heads. He is funny and writes excellent scripts and can act. He is modest and starting out but in reality has more than they do. He may end up an icon. I would not be surprised. But he should not limit himself. his fiction shows are beyond espn and the NFL network. he gets to the heart of the fan and is like I said really talented. Tom dont LIMIT YOURSELF. Woody Allen started out writing for other people and doing standup.
I owe St. Jude Children’s Hospital an infinite debt of gratitude for allowing my little sister to get treatment there for years when she was in third grade. No other research facility even thought it was cancer, SJ was the only one that would treat her - it turned out to be a very rare and aggressive form of skin cancer. Our family would’ve likely been bankrupt and without my little sister without St. Jude. I love RE and Tom Grossi (Go Lions) - This was a joy to listen to!!
Rich Eisen should be what ALL sports journalists aspire to! He is always calm and well-spoken, he does his research, he is fair, and is logical in his thinking. Most sports reporters are not close to that way...some not at all. I actually wish that Rich Eisen WAS a news journalist. He would be fantastic and we need reporters like him. We don't have very many.
And his Jets rants are epic. The two i remember most are in 2020 when the winless Jets beat the Rams and basically lost the chance to draft Trevor Lawrence and last year when Rodgers went down after 4 snaps against the Bills. He's had other rants about the Jets too but those are all time great ones. 🤣🤣
Eisen is an absolute class act. He is a beacon of a bygone era of sports news and reporting. He is the type of man you turn to when your station needs to report serious and troubling breaking news, just as he is the man to rant about the Jets terrible offensive line. A pleasure to see him expand and mingle in the UA-camr realm and provide such valuable connection to a deserving person.
Oh I 100% agree with you, Rich Eisen is my favorite and I will watch him over anybody else. The only person that comes clothes and they're still not that clothes would be Shannon Sharpe
I would love to see a "behind the scenes" into how Tom sets up his interview process; he somehow manages to perfectly balance active listening and engaging questions for the interview, while making it seem far more natural than most do. Well done Tom!
Great interview. I loved the point about comedy and being vulnerable on stage. I remember when I was doing student teaching I made a throwaway joke, and the class burst out laughing. It felt great, and really eased my tension.
Tom, it’s time. I think your days in the basement with the bobbleheads, and the foam cheese hats, are numbered. It’s time for that next step. Whether it’s something directly with the Packers, the Fox 11 folks in Green Bay, or even something nationally, I think you’re ready. You nailed that interview with Eisen as good as any current broadcaster.
From being someone who was getting interviewed to being the one doing the interviewing on some amazing people, it’s so cool to see how much you have grown in this past year (and I’m sure as well from previous years)!! This is only the beginning and I’m sure there is much more to come! Congratulations Tom!!
Rich is a king at creating the sports narrative. Tom's NFL scripts writer skit is the personification of the sports narrative. It is so great to see them together. Keep up the amazing creative work Tom.
Go Tom Grossi… Look at you… So proud of you. You worked very hard and this is the beginning of your new/added journey. You are so good at it. You include your knowledge and your humor into everything you do. Congratulations…
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone as deserving of being successful in their field as you Tom. I’ve been here since 100k and I’m so happy to see all the success you’ve been seeing the last couple years and all of the opportunities you’ve started to get. Your passion for sports and spreading chaotic good is infectious and I’ve become a bigger football fan than ever since finding your channel. I can’t wait to see what more you do and accomplish you deserve it all
Way to go, Tom. Found your platform through Perna. I generally get highly annoyed with people who make a habit of interjecting during an interview/show. However, you somehow manage to do it subtly and meaningfully. Keep up the good work.
Dude. C'mon now. Rich Freaking Eisen? I'm so proud of your journey. Just so damn proud. And should you stumble and fall, just figure out what tripped you up and learn from it. Don't beat yourself up, everything is a process. Just keep doing what you're doing. I can't wait to see what's next.
For watching your content as long as I have, it blows my mind that you’ve now interviewed a legend in Rich Eisen twice. To say I’m proud is an understatement.
What I enjoy about Rich is him wanting to see what's next. He has such respect for the future of sports media, which includes Tom and it's so trippy to realize that part.
It feels odd to have this level of pride and respect for someone I don't know, but you've definitely earned both. I love and respect Rich as well, and you're such a natural at this with him; definitely a pioneer in your own right. I look forward to what's next!
Welcome to the Big Leagues, Tom!! It turns out being a workaholic does pay off! LOL! Honestly, it's great to see that all the time and hard work you've done over the past nine years is seeing fruition and a genuine recognition of all that you do for the people! Huge shout out to my favorite Packer You Tuber!!! Best of everything to you in the future, hoping to have you here in my home state of Wisconsin sometime soon! Keep up the amazing job!! Congratulations, my good man!!
Life long Chicago Bears fan here and I gotta say, Tom, you're one of the most genuine people in sports media I have ever watched. Your meteoric rise to fame is absolutely awesome to watch in real time. Also, FTP.
Rich is awesome, he even gives Seattle its flowers when they're due when no one else even has them on their rader. S/o to Rich and his segment on Pete Carroll
Awesome. We've seen you in some-guy-in-his-basement mode, which framed you for us. Now, watching this, Tom Grossi in grownup mode, was really impressive. A whole 'nother level for you. You were up there on equal footing with an old pro and held your own. Congratulations.
What a wonderful day when somebody legendary like that is able to sit down with one of the greats and really represent himself and his organization so well, I'm glad this was able to happen in the first place and SOOOO happy for Tom!!!
That was a really good interview.... Very well done. It was actually a little surreal, Rich is always the person interviewing someone else... To see him BE interviewed was definitely different.... I also liked the surprise & shock & his reaction to the idea that your trophy arrived broken..... Which is still shocking to me as well, quite honestly..... It's unfathomable to me, that that could even happen.... Of all the places I've worked, big places, small places, you name it... Not that it was an "official" position, it usually was not, but there was always someone who was really good at packing & shipping stuff.... So if you had some oddball part that had to go out, or some weird thing that had to be shipped, there was always that person who was really good at packing stuff, and shipping stuff.... Even if it needed a custom box, or was really fragile, or what have you..... There's always that person.... Kind of like on a baseball team, again, it's nobody's "job", but there's always someone, at every level, on every team... There's always that person who is super good at restringing baseball gloves, or repairing baseball gloves... It's such an oddball skill, but every level I was ever at, there was someone in that dugout who could do it no problem.... The gosh darned NFL... THE NFL!!!! How do they not have a shipping person??? Or more to the point, the trophy GOT TO THEM somehow.... How does nobody, not one person, think to SAVE THE BOX, because we gotta ship it to the winner!!!! How does that NOT happen????? Crazy....
Hearing Rich say, “shitton” is probably the highlight of my 2024 so far 😅 But seriously, Tom, you are a superb man for what you did with 30 in 30. One small act of chaotic good turned into changing the world for the better.
Fantastic interview. When NFL Network first started is when I REALLY got into Football. I've been a fan of Rich ever since. He was always funny, insightful, knowledgeable and just a guy you could tell was passionate about sports. Much like a certain NFL Fan of the Year. Speaking of which, it sounded like Rich was ready and willing to get you a fixed trophy. You could tell he was genuinely stunned when you said it came broken.
I never thought when I started watching you via your fan reaction videos a couple years ago I'd see you doing this. Can't wait to see what happens in the future!

This is awesome! What a get! I don’t know Rich at all, but he seems like a genuinely nice guy. Glad you could sit down and do this with him. Even with all the technical hurdles. Great job!
What is going on with this channel? Started watching this goofy guy like 2 or 3 years ago when I found Pernas crazy ass. Rich Eisen is my absolute favorite and one of thr only people on this planet that gives me hope for humanity. Very awesome interview, from a very awesome person: Tom Grosse.

An absolute sports media icon. Rich Eisen's pretty great, too.

Rich is not just my favorite sports reporter, he's one of my favorite humans. And that voice is so soothing.
And a lover of the arts. His show is first rate.
The "warm blanket" of NFL media without a doubt.
There has never been an episode of Rich's show that I haven't enjoyed on some level. The entire cast is all class.
I disagree with him often but have followed and consumed Rich since he had hair on ESPN. Class act
@@spsawyer22 Before he was inducted into the Bald Brotherhood.
Tom’s moving up in the world, meanwhile Perna is on the verge of a colossal mental breakdown. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
