When you think about it, this Sole Survivor became Kellogg, he was defenseless to help his wife, lost his son, and now has lost care for anyone but himself, and he even has the outfit
Mas Theace I think it’s about him slowly realizing he’s a synth, with Dima’s dialogue, and it would support him acting like that because he’s going through a crisis.
that would be why they went thru the trouble to create kellogs memories and not another characters... to put us in kellogs frame of mind... they could have made ANY story up for Kellog, orphan raised by a raider, nice family instead of what we saw, heck they could have had him come from another vault... but they chose the story they put in his memory sequences for a reason in my opinion... to show what happens to that kind of person eventually and not to become like him... then they gave us his armor and weapon... and set us of on the revenge vacation we started the moment we woke up in 111.
@@ainzooalgown6450 seems like the implication is he's either a synth and has come to that realization, or has completely lost his sanity and can no longer distinguish between reality and dream.
@@Arnoldthegoat454 You wanna reword that so it makes sense and stop acting like a comment I made a year ago about a fictional character in a mid game personally offends you?
I've always seen that as such a destruction of the personality. By that I mean, you look to your children as a ways to surpass you, to be better... and yet in this instance, he's disappointed. About what? To each person that can be something different, because this game relies on choices, and yet just the simple notion touches an aspect present in each of us.... So Disappointed... Who hasn't been?
he was a baby, raised by the institute, indoctrinated to believe in what they believe. The Sole Survivor is disappointed because of his believes, but I don't think he really understands what the institute did to Shaun. His morality is wrong. Not what The Sole Survivor would have taught him, but it's too late to change anything. I would be disappointed as well to see my son become such a cold...arrogant person
There should be a bad ending in the game where you get everyone to hate you including the dlc characters and when you go back to vault 111 you see this
True, but then again, the game must present some actual challenge in regard to human relations. I couldn't make Strong seriously dislike me, even when I went for a lockpicking spree. I have little to no idea what kind of a monster do you have to become in-game to actually get the hate from everyone, and even then, would the PC be able to get an epiphany like this.
Damn I know, I started helping out settlers, the minutemen too. I was doing good for the commonwealth but, then after a while I started to get bored so for fun I started hunting for every raider I could find killing them all. And this line made me realize, that I'm separating myself from everyone and turning the sole survivor into a monster, killing for fun.
@@OCTO358oh shut up you would think people would get bored of repeating the same shit ad infinitum after years we all know it ain't the best fallout but just putting people down because they enjoy something repeating the same shit over and over again its kinda pathetic.
William Jolly It's a joke dude. Notice how the camera moves so much while following a character, Kojima does the exact same in MGS V. I'm pretty sure that was the creator's intention though.
"After what you've done"? - "You didn't see it! The way I did"... - "You know I'm starting to wish I never met you"! - "People don't change"! - "I woke up"... - "You're making us look like monsters out here"!!! - "You dragged us down to THEIR level"! - "I saw them take you"... - "It was.. your job to protect them".
This is so emotional, I think I understand the story your trying to tell. When the Sole Survivor first came out of that Vault, he was still a good man. For in-game months, maybe even a year, he tried to hold onto his morals, remember where he came from and who he was. But in the end, the world finally got to him. He isn't evil and he isn't good or bad, he's just a survivor. Despite his condemnation of Kellog and his actions, it seems that the Sole Survivor has ended up as a near mirror image of Kellog, he even wears his outfit and uses his gun. It just goes to show, no man can stay good forever.
insanegames Even tho Fallout 4 doesnt have much rp in it compared to nv...i enjoy just playing as nate. Not even changing the charater. just go out and make desiscions. If there were more morally ambiguous choices it wouldve made the game one of the best story based fallouts other than 3. i know it gets a bad wrap but I enjoy fallout 4. if they added more quest with more charater and Setting and moral consiquences, it couldve avoided its bad wrap.
insanegames also I would add the fact that he doesn't even know anymore who he is not even if he's nate or just a synth that was programmed to think he is nate
ashton rhodes no Fallout 1 had the best lore and plot. The plot was to save your vault and loved ones by risking your life to repair a water chip to supply your vault with clean water. Though in the end, your driven away from your vault despite your heroic deeds, stopping the master and his "Unity" and saving your loved ones in the vault and in the end, you get nothing but a thank you and a goodbye (also depending on how you did the game you can kill the overseer before exiting back out to the wastes) the Soul Survivor maybe a...well survivor the lone Wanderer may be a hero, the Chosen One may be a saviour the courier may be a deliverer of fate but the Vault Dweller was a legend and his legacy will be forever remembered by those who live in Arroyo and the dwellers who lived in Vault 13
Now THIS is the kind of deep, emotional experience this game should have conveyed. The Sole Survivor lost EVERYTHING, and yet somehow it doesnt feel like they care that much, or that we even have the option to lash out in anger and become an anti-hero. Also, Bethesda needs to hire this guy
I have a mod called 'You are Not Okay' and I haven't seen what it does yet but I think it's just like pretending that there's a little bit of Kellogg left in my character, only all the trauma that they both have had effects him in a much greater way. Like changing his personality and morals into something that they never would have been before.
The lone survivor is a testament to what this game should have been. The stress from a traumatic experience of loosing not one but two loved ones on top of the fact that that the world you once knew is gone is more than enough to break the strongest of men. This plays on the thought of losing your family and not being an emotionless brick but actually being human... In the end the stress and trauma break us all and they will eventually cause us to show our truest form... for the sole survivor it was unfortunately evil.
Imagine this being what the game puts you through and then an optional act where you can try to redeem yourself after trying to put yourself back together
@@tententononce2570 this was created in game... The creator talks about it in one of these comment threads he made the animations with triggers for pretty much everything you see.
"What are you gonna do ? Walk away ? You don't get to walk away !" My exact reaction when the video ended. You are so talented, we want more ! Feed us moaaarrrrr !!!
Timothy Dexter or maybe the game didn’t live up to the hype and this beautiful edited video makes it appear a lot more compelling and emotional then it actually is?
The slow mental breakdown of the main character is totally canon in my book. Dude lost everything. Then we as players are just supposed to believe that he just shrugs it off. Naw I needed a dialogue or a cutscene like this at the end of the game.
I play “Nate” as a broken man who has had everything taken from him and distracts himself by trying to make the commonwealth closer to the world he had once known. The only reason he hasn’t put a bullet through his head yet is solely because he is still needed by people to be the savior of the commonwealth as the general of the minutemen. For the brief moments he forgets his crushing grief he reverts back to how he was before the war; warm, caring, sarcastic, and generous. When he is alone with his thoughts he is morose, bitter, and depressed. In his office he quietly listens to the holotapes from his wife and his son while holding his beloved wife’s ring. He damn near snapped at Danse when he said he was taking his grief in strides. No one ever stops to look at the pillar hard enough to see the cracks.
i roleplayed as the 10th doctor with no tardis just stuck on earth in the wasteland. i played with no companions and i built a jalopy tardis at the starlight drive in, i went to more the depressed side of the doctor where he would rather stay away from everything but somehow get shoehorned into helping. so when i chose either sarcastic or rude dialog i really felt like there was somthing more to him and the turnaround point was the kid in a fridge quest. (p.s. cybermen = institute, dareks = BoS and U.N.I.T. = minuitmen)
in a way that is actually how the game come across as, its subtle, but nate/nora's voice in the opening sequence is more energetic and filled with life, after (s)he wakes up in thier new crapsack world, they are hit by the shock of it, the voice from there on out just sounds a bit flatter, like he really regrets getting out of that vault. but it gets better as he makes a diffrence.
You know, people don’t give enough credit to all of the emotional voice acting in Fallout 4. When you romance a companion and then betray their trust you can actually here how scared, and almost violated they are because they opened up to you only for you to leave a hole in them. Ugh. These games make me feel ways I never thought I could.
As a die hard Fallout fan who’s competed brotherhood of steel and the originals multiple time, FO4 has some of the most emotionally enduring voice acting in the series. The games has its pros and cons compared to the rest of the series, but this is truly one of it not the most emotional in the series if you know where to look, if it had the lore, world-building and story of the originals, this is why I want Bethesda and Obsidian to work together again.
Coddsworth, I'm already a demon. Seriously, though, this video is amazing. Just goes to show that emotional resonance isn't so much about what you tell, but how you tell it. Bethesda should take cue.
was simply a reference. The cinematics in this video are nearly identical to an MGS game, as well as the way the story is portrayed. Lots of visuals, minimal or no dialogue. Not to mention the final scene in the house, with all the corpses, is nearly identical to the ending of a scene from MGSV on Mother Base.
I would have enjoyed fallout 4 way more if we got close to this level of emotional tension and struggle. If we were ACTUALLY challenged to remain good or given plenty of temptations to become like most people in the Wasteland and take the easy route. "Because it's just too...damned...hard."
All i could think of this entire video was the mgsv trailer!!! god i got such goosebumps...then remembered how soul crushingly sad mgsv and all its bullshit surrounding the game turned out to be.
Finally Someone who understands the dark tragedy of the Lone survivor. A true marvel of storytelling from a small fan video that's 8 minutes long. Brilliant. just Brilliant
Joshua Clark this would be a great idea also another cool idea would be to do one of these but as Preston it would be so sad as well because for the majority of Prestons life he has had nearly everything torn and taken away from his life apart from hope
Mighty Jaron Because he's one of the only people in the entire Commonwealth who's supported you from the start and has placed all of his hopes and dreams for a better future in you. You're his last hope, the only person who could possibly save the Commonwealth and it's people from tyranny and violence. And then you stoop too low. You perform an action so amoral that not even your most dogged ally could stand by you, and in that instant, he ceases to have any respect for you as a human. You shattered his image of you by commiting a war crime of the utmost caliber, tarnishing the name of the faction he's supported since he was a young boy. You took that from him, and now he's taking himself from you.
Why are we still here?.....just to suffer?.....every night, I feel my sons loving touch, my wife, even the smells of a Saturday morning breakfast. It’s like it’s all still hurting, burning as bright as the day the bombs fell, like they’re all still there........
Yenno... I always thought the phrase “war never changes” was just somethin gettin thrown around fallout games as a way to connect them all with a lyrical standpoint. But this, this takes “war never changes” to a whole new level. That war was literally in his mind, in his dream, that war that is breaking him down more than he already is will never change. And wow. I never really appreciated the voice actors/actresses before but by god they’re really good. For once I’m glad they didn’t have a silent protagonist. Them on top of your incredible camera work and scenery and story telling make this a masterpiece. Definitely my favorite one out of the ones you’ve done so far and you’ve done some amazing works.
I’d prefer a “silent protagonist” (Voice acted Protagonist to me doesn’t represent an empty palate one could immerse themselves in {in my opinion anyways}) to one as generic as the FO4 ones are. I’d prefer branching dialogue options, over a cookie cutter dialogue that is in every way simply “fine” it’s not horrible, but it’s not engaging on any emotional level , to me anyways. I’d prefer to make my own protagonist’s storyline, than one that is hamfisted into my lap by Bethesda. Overall, this game has a “okay” storyline (the glitches and design is just cancer can’t even play the game nowadays with mods in consoles) but it’s nkt unique, and even when I play it, I just feel nothing for the world and the characters in it. I like the companions and dialogue with them, but I’d still take New Vegas and Obsidian’s story over Bethesda anyday, obsidian had memorable characters (Old world Blues is one of my favourite DLC’s _ever_ because of the Brains) Bethesda made a great future template for future Fallouts, but if they fail now, well, that’d be embarrassing for them..
@@InVinoVeratas I think with the massive budgets these companies have why not branching dialogue with good voice acting. In FNV the one major problem I have is a lack of emotion in the story which helps to suck you in like geralt searching for yennefer and ciri or joel coming to terms with his past on his journey with ellie. The only two motivations i can come up with in new vegas is either greed or hatred for a faction or both as their is no one who knows you and any backstory you come with will never be mentioned. So fallout 3 and 4 giving you a background I don't mind rather it is the execution as I feel just as little emotion save for one to two conversations in fallout 4 I remeber speaking with DIMA and my character opening up about the loss of his wife and son to a woman threatning to kill you.
^ I personally RP’ed FNV so my backstories were varied, obviously not lore-friendly from the Fallout universe perspective, but to me it made replays far more varied than FO4, where you were absolutely limited to being the sole survivor. To me RP-ing in RPG’s is like the difference between a slice of baloney and a slice of Salami, there’s good examples and bland examples. I recently did play the Far Harbor DLC and even though DiMA was interesting, I just can’t relate to Synths. I feel nothing for the martyr Mcguffins of FO4, they’re just blank slates of nothingness to me. It’s akin to watching a blank canvas being thrown away, just kinda disappointed with what could’ve been, but you don’t feel much beyond it’s lost potential for its function. As a plot device that _“you’re supposed to feel”_ for, I feel a void of indifference towards their plights and _“struggles”_
Unfortunately they will have to bring back the silent protagonist if they want to spur the modding community in fallout again. Quest mods and anything that required player dialogue was nill in fallout 4 because we cant go begging for the voice actor of both nate and nora to make mods.
you either die a hero. or live long enough to see yourself become the villian. this is a masterpiece. well edited indeed. makes you think about whats right and wrong in the wasteland.
Steelshot honestly. I really didnt like Nuka World. It was either become a huge villian. Or end the DLC imidiatly after you arrive by killing everyone. Such a waste of a dlc
I know this is a little deep but my brother committed suicide in July and fallout/skyrim was one of our biggest bonds. Hours of playing after losing him made me feel like he wasn’t gone, like he was watching me all along. Thank you for bringing the game to life
I’m sorry bro he’ll be with u for as long as u live and through the fallouts I named a robot my granny’s name and I always think that her walking the wasteland with me I never replace her with another person I also got dogmeat to with the mod where u can being dogmeat to. @@morgmeyer Far Cry 3 had a better story that Fo4. Fallout is my favorite series of all time I'm such a nerd about the lore but Far Cry will always hold a place in my heart. Far Cry 3 was honestly a masterpiece and one of the best stories ever in gaming.
@@egg494 oh I'm very well aware of Farcry 3 being superior. I've had so much fun with Fallout 4, but honestly it's pretty bad. Without mods it bores me, and it can't handle mods without dying entirely. I literally can't start the game because of how broken it is.
This is what it should have been. This is how the story should have been brought out. You were more or less a good guy, whatever faction you chose. Whatever we did i didnt feel like i was a "sole survivor" I didnt feel dispair at loosing shaun or the wife. The trauma and panic should have been overwhelming for the character but instead it all felt "meh". I love how this trailer shows the character starting out being his normal self and in the end being "overwhelmed", or even traumatized". Like the companions are saying and indicating. "It feels like you are starting to ignore me", "when we first met i saw you were different, but now you are angry" Great work on this, im in love with this trailer.
I agree that the emotional part of the story telling could have been better but at the same time it's supposed to be a fallout game where you role play as your own self and in fallout 4 your kinda just playing Nate/nora and looking through their eyes so it's not really a good representation of fallout
Yes, the way the camera moves around and how it focuses really sold it, and when he was kneeling amongst all those bodies, I fully realized that the SS was Venom Snake kneeling after the tragedy with the virus in TPP. :(
"The pain of watching your family slip through your fingers, if I could see her just one last time." "But there's no going back." "I dreamed of you as an adult for so long. And here you are. And I'm so... disappointed." "As. Am. I." "Deep into that darkness peering. How long I stood there... wondering." "You think you're in pain now? I can make you bleed. Make you beg me for death." "After all this. After... everything you've seen. All that you've learned. You're just going to walk away?"
It's in that moment that after everything the sole survivor has seen, everything they've done, they'll never be able to walk away. It's like Kellogg said, there's no going back.
hey so I dont recognize a lot of these quotes from the game, even though i have a 1000+ hours in it (mostly settlement building). Where does the sole survivor say that first and third quote?
Mart Dekker First quote is from kellogg (during the brain sequence) and 3rd is from valentine, after seeing the BoS airship (when you come out on the roof after killing kellogg)
Handcock- "Theres no room for Angels in outer Heav- I mean the CommonWealth" Soul Survivor- "Im already a demon, heaven wasnt my kind of place anywa- Wait a second."
Clemens Hoste Yes. I gain 150 pounds from the sweetness of this video. The amount of fermented calories from the time it took to make this video fattened me up really good.
One by one the hero drives his friends away, one way or another. The good man goes to shadow, and in his place a mirror image of what he once fought against appears. Just as fuelled by a vengeance which cannot be sated. Just as self-concerned. Just another survivor in the Commonwealth making it day by day, not by morals, but by his own need to survive, even if that means pushing everyone else away to do so. So he doesn’t feel weak. So that he doesn’t have a conscience. Just so he can survive.
One must be careful on the path he chooses, despite it being just a video game, you never know, maybe alternate universes are true, and you just made a bad one..
This is so heartbreakingly sad. It’s really shows how much of an effect Noras death and Shauns “disappearance” could’ve affected the sole survivor. Bethesda doesn’t really show how much it affected “Nate” to lose his wife and son, meanwhile this video gives total feels and makes you wanna cry your eyes out. So fucking well done. 😢❤️👏🏻
Ink Hed I empathized my character from the beginning. In the end after I convinced Shaun to help save some of the scientists I mercy killed him with Kellogs gun so that he wouldmt suffer in the explosion. Then destroyed the institute went back to Vault 111 dropped my wedding ring and the magnum and stopped playing. I thought to myself if I just went through what he went through I'd probally shoot myself.
I feel the Phantom Pain in it. The best of Fallout 4 is the creations of the minds which play it. Thank you for that. It shows me to be more energetic to work on my projects.
It's interesting because in order for us, as an audience, to have an emotional connection to the characters, we must have an affinity that isn't as comfortable to the narrative. Do we side with the institute? Side with the character presented to us? We can, we should. But even if we go along with out own interpretation, 'we aren't a monster'. But it won't stop someone from being disappointed with us. So here we stand, our choices driving into us. Are we the monsters we sought to fight? Did we drag people down to our level? Or did we lift them up to something greater? As the character dialogue says, "I just don't know anymore". That's what I love about these type of games. It's our choice, our path that we choose. It can be the "background radiation" taking the toll on the mind, but in the end it us up to us on how we wish to play. We form our own stories in each iteration. Today the Hero, tomorrow - another (good) villian. For I believe we don't want to be evil. But in our own interpretation of events, we find our own solace. So let us continue on, and find the drive we search for in our own lives.
This edit PERFECTLY portrays the character of The Sole Survivor. It’s in the name. He’s alone, he’s the only one who survived. Everyone in his family died, everyone else in the vault died, all of his COMPANIONS died. He was alone. The only survivor was Dogmeat, who is also a Sole Survivor in his own right. Nate/Nora experience so much trauma, and this encapsulates that PERFECTLY! It shows what a broken man looks like, not the stupid and silly archetypes they stylize the characters to be, but a human being with conflicting messages, goals, and tragedy. I wish they focused more on the story than the graphics and gameplay.
twables1 I know but imagine the end result. The story was beautiful and emotional and tragic and reselling it like a series, considering the brilliant voice acting, would be absolutely thrilling
Damien Maclip oh no doubt about it. The end product would be legendary. I would love every second of it. I look at this video as just like an extended trailer haha
If you're talking about the last one before dima starts talking about memories at 6:41, i could be wrong but im hearing Nora say "And you failed" Instead of Nathan. Both are heartbreaking.
PTSD is very serious and Nate has it for his time in the army and the bombs dropping. The Male character has been through so much and is bearing has any strength left.
All of the emotion, this is how it should be!! Because it really bugged me how Nate or Nora we’re totally unphased by everything they went through at the beginning of the game.
"Isn't it funny how a memory can feel like a whole different reality. People, places, even sounds and colors can change, or someone else has changed them".
Amazing. This isn't just "good for a fanmade video". It was actually genuinely good by any standard. Incredible. Animation was smooth too. Though I'll admit that maybe some of that shaky cam helped make the animation look smoother than it actually was? I hope this video starts off a good portfolio for it to take you somewhere. You have talent.
I've played countless playthroughs of Fallout 4. The one playthrough where I based my characters decisions/personality on the sole survivor in this video, was BY FAR the absolute best. Really got the most emotional moments possible that way.
Holy shit... The motion, the visuals, and the direction you lead your story of the sole survivor was absolutely wonderful. Shit man you would direct the best movie ever.
Deep into the darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing. Image this, everything you loved ripped out from your hands and replaced. He was a soldier, a survivor, but most importantly, he is human. He is angry he wasn't able to protect his wife. He tried to make up for it by saving Shaun only to find out he is the leader of most hated and feared organization in the commonwealth. I would be disappointed as well. He lost his wife, then he lost his son twice, the anger would build until he is cold hearted. He did things that his friends disapproved of, they got so fed up that they either left him or they tried to stop him from doing something only to fail and end up one of his victims. All of that blood is on his hands and that would wear him out. I would say that the only thing keeping him up and able to fight would be the hatred. He is standing in the darkness, looking into all that he has done, wondering what he has become, and fearing himself for becoming a monster. Also, all of these made me feel more emotion that all of the fallout games I have played combined. I hope you make one with the minutemen, and I really, I mean REALLY HOPE you make one with the Enclave.
Beautiful.... just... beautiful. You can see the time, effort, and passion you had put into this. You've put more emotion in these Fallout vids there there was in the entire game it self. Keep it up with the outstanding job. ***** (5 stars), 10/10.
5 years later and I still come back to see this. Pandemic I've got no clue where you are but I hope it's somewhere fantastic and nurtures this kind of beautiful artwork.
Tbh I didn't know alot of these lines were in the game. "I hope you can let go of your anger" "You're making us look like monsters out there" so very powerful and emotional when put together like this. Bethesda most likely sees us, the community, as a filter, to take their ideals, their story, and enhance it, in our mind, and image. Well done to you, and keep on surviving out there, because war.....war never changes.
This is what the trailer for fallout 4 should have been. it has so much emotion to it and feels like it has a much better story attached to it than what we were given.
Shit.... that was....powerful. You have done an amazing job here BluePanda; definately worth the wait! So; what i'm getting from this, is this Sole Survivor destroyed the Institute with the BoS; but has slowly declined in popularity amoung his companions and overall sanity after witnessing the death of his old life. Thus follows his doubt if hes even real or a synth.... ....Or have I completely misinterpreted that?
I don't think the main story is important here. Most of the video is a dream sequence which shouldn't be taken as literally happening (note the pre-war condition of the house in Sanctuary). The only "real" portions left are outside Vault 111 with the raiders, and the dialogue with DiMA.
Alternatively, the "walk to the pre-war house of corpses" sequence is the only actual fictional portion of the dream, and the Minuteman ending + killing all companions are flashbacks. It is awkward that, if you fulfill the whole Nuka World DLC, the Sole Survivor is at odds with pretty much every companion except Strong and maybe Cait. I'm more inclined to write off that portion as being a metaphor of fear of loss or something, but yeah.
Shadewalker 13 maybe it is all a metaphor, so he thinks about himself being a synth (from bos pov clearly evil) and can't remember the things before (being good and not a mass murderer)
David Baker As soon as I learned that I had to invade the Commonwealth, which pisses Preston (who happens to be my main companion) off, I decided no more Nuka World.
The lone wanderer, he lost everything he held dear to him, his wife gone, his son died in front of him. His blind persuit of revenge and hate led him down a dark path of murder death and violence. He threw away all chances of love and friendship for the sake of his own hatred. Some say he lives isolated in the commonwealth only leaving to scavange the ruins. Others say he moved on and wanders the wasteland like a lost soul with no purpose. Some don’t even believe he’s still alive. His story will be told in diamond city and all the other settlements for a long time as a reminder that this wasteland can change you, but you must never lose yourself to it.
+teo38381 People make custom animations for Fallout 4 all the time man. Just download a gun mod and you'll see what I mean. If you were to use any of these gun mods, then you would know that they have custom sounds that play at certain points in the animations. These sounds are activated by things called annotations, which are basically triggers that are placed at certain points in a Fallout 4 animation. Other than sounds, annotations can also be used to make a character take out an object, trigger a visual effect, or just kill them at the end of a paired takedown animation. Animated cameras are also triggered via annotations. For example, animated cameras are present in the beginning of the game, when you customize your character, an animated camera triggers when you meet dogmeat, and an animated camera triggers when you use a workbench. The annotation that makes this happen is called "StartAnimatedCamera.AnimObjectA". Like the name says, it changes your player camera to be from the view of AnimObjectA.
I keep rewatching this, it’s fantastic. The animated camera really is a game changer. I think my only criticism is when showing the past maybe have him shaven, to show the passage of time and emphasize that he’s changed
I do believe hes trying to say is that he hasnt. By keeping th character the same with looks, hes probably saying that even inside, hes always been the same. (Sorry, im rather late to this vid)
This is the game that Fallout 4 should have been. It shouldn't have been just some fruitless and detached mission to find your fictional son, but a real journey into something far more dangerous and soul-ripping than the radiated wastes of the Commonwealth: madness.
It's my opinion that they did make that game with FO4. For me, it's the dialogue and details to the stories that pull you in and make you think about what your character is experiencing. Even though you control how to respond, I tried to put myself in their shoes and make that response, which made the story even better.

that would be why they went thru the trouble to create kellogs memories and not another characters... to put us in kellogs frame of mind... they could have made ANY story up for Kellog, orphan raised by a raider, nice family instead of what we saw, heck they could have had him come from another vault... but they chose the story they put in his memory sequences for a reason in my opinion... to show what happens to that kind of person eventually and not to become like him... then they gave us his armor and weapon... and set us of on the revenge vacation we started the moment we woke up in 111.

If there were more morally ambiguous choices it wouldve made the game one of the best story based fallouts other than 3. i know it gets a bad wrap but I enjoy fallout 4. if they added more quest with more charater and Setting and moral consiquences, it couldve avoided its bad wrap.
ashton rhodes I soon you a while back. You were talking about Fallout Online
insanegames no man can live forever too,so be a good man.
insanegames also I would add the fact that he doesn't even know anymore who he is not even if he's nate or just a synth that was programmed to think he is nate
ashton rhodes no Fallout 1 had the best lore and plot.
SwordBreaker925 You decide how the Sole Survivor deals with the trauma, you decide how their story unfolds.
I have a mod called 'You are Not Okay' and I haven't seen what it does yet but I think it's just like pretending that there's a little bit of Kellogg left in my character, only all the trauma that they both have had effects him in a much greater way.

Actually if you get one of the endings you will se that the solo survivor actually feels horrible from mising his most loved ones...

The slow mental breakdown of the main character is totally canon in my book. Dude lost everything. Then we as players are just supposed to believe that he just shrugs it off. Naw I needed a dialogue or a cutscene like this at the end of the game.
You probably made me realize why I love this video. The story of 4 was always a tragedy but it never acted like it, but this video is shows it.

Ugh. the synth that talks about seeing the world for the first time is the best Voice acting in this game
DragonInferno99 Ω Last of Us perhaps?
Your quote, was it in this video? Or was it a reference
was simply a reference.

@Dodo The Donkey A bit salty, aren't you?
So fallout 3 and 4 giving you a background I don't mind rather it is the execution as I feel just as little emotion save for one to two conversations in fallout 4
I remeber speaking with DIMA and my character opening up about the loss of his wife and son to a woman threatning to kill you.
Quest mods and anything that required player dialogue was nill in fallout 4 because we cant go begging for the voice actor of both nate and nora to make mods.

worth the weight? did you become obese because of this video?
Clemens Hoste Yes. I gain 150 pounds from the sweetness of this video. The amount of fermented calories from the time it took to make this video fattened me up really good.

it was a joke
Lacomus Then your reply was a joke, correct? I am curious is this troll attempt to start a grammar war over obvious meme usage or not.
"You either die as the hero, or you live long enough to become the villain"
Did he kill all his companions? Since there is that scene with all the dead ones in the house. I’m tryna rp this character
@@jamesbond-ni7nz i think it might be just nightmare. That’s what I think at least
Sounds like Rezzyl Azzir when he turned into Dredgen Yor
One must be careful on the path he chooses, despite it being just a video game, you never know, maybe alternate universes are true, and you just made a bad one..
This is so heartbreakingly sad. It’s really shows how much of an effect Noras death and Shauns “disappearance” could’ve affected the sole survivor. Bethesda doesn’t really show how much it affected “Nate” to lose his wife and son, meanwhile this video gives total feels and makes you wanna cry your eyes out. So fucking well done. 😢❤️👏🏻
Timothy Dexter maybe I didn’t watch the video close enough.
Timothy Dexter If Nora and Shawn don’t exist the why do people in the game address them. Like if you take them to your dead wife they acknowledge her
Timothy Dexter No. Everything in the entire game suggests you arent a synth
No..
When you have terrible companion affinity
Even in the rain this land smells like piss.
XD
Dude you should totally retell fallout 4 as like an animated TV series, it would be absolutely insane!
That would take so much work but holy crap..It would be one of the most beautiful things ever
twables1 I know but imagine the end result. The story was beautiful and emotional and tragic and reselling it like a series, considering the brilliant voice acting, would be absolutely thrilling
Damien Maclip oh no doubt about it. The end product would be legendary. I would love every second of it. I look at this video as just like an extended trailer haha
twables1 it would be undoubtedly brilliant, but I'd understand if he had o time as this is clearly hard work. Making something so great isn't easy
yeah maybe if he had a team like Bethesda does
“Nathan..”
That last voice gave me chills. Nora calling out to her husband in a heartbreaking way after all that hell.
Anyone else notice that?
If you're talking about the last one before dima starts talking about memories at 6:41, i could be wrong but im hearing Nora say "And you failed" Instead of Nathan. Both are heartbreaking.
I think she said "And you failed..."
Dr. Sad nah, Nora doesn’t have an accent. She said Nathan
@@ratthew7497 you must have lots of wax to not be able to hear that she said "and you failed".

PTSD is very serious and Nate has it for his time in the army and the bombs dropping. The Male character has been through so much and is bearing has any strength left.
Adam Xei sooo what about Nora? I mean she is just a lawyer.
So thats why everyone plays Nora...
Oh wait, she is a *GIRL* in a *BETHESDA GAME*
Guy_de very Funny, but I play her because I loved the acting at the beginning of the game in the Vault
Thanks for bringing more complexity, Adam Xei. I hadn't concidered Nick's PTSD.
This was incredible

Hell yeah shame he stopped making these

that hit me hard....
John Augustine too damn hard

You have talent.
your profile pic. nostalgia..
dont be mad this video took you seven and a half months it is honest to god one of the best videos ive ever seen
I hate when im watching this and my dad is cutting onions
I was wondering if you wanted to play a quick game of Gwent?
I've played countless playthroughs of Fallout 4. The one playthrough where I based my characters decisions/personality on the sole survivor in this video, was BY FAR the absolute best. Really got the most emotional moments possible that way.
I know this comment is two years old now but I would love to see how you applied this 8 minute video of greatness into a play through.

This was heavy. I mean this deserves some sort of award. Best FO4 video I've ever seen. So dark, heartbreaking, so well done. Just... WOW!
Holy shit... The motion, the visuals, and the direction you lead your story of the sole survivor was absolutely wonderful. Shit man you would direct the best movie ever.
If you ever get bored of Fallout 4 just watch this to get back into it.

It’s beautiful
Beautiful.... just... beautiful. You can see the time, effort, and passion you had put into this. You've put more emotion in these Fallout vids there there was in the entire game it self. Keep it up with the outstanding job. ***** (5 stars), 10/10.
so true man , the whole game was shit compared to this crazy vid
It actually deeply frustrates me that there are even 5 dislikes. This is a work of art.
All from Sony players mad that they can't have mods and their system crashes too much for them to be able to enjoy half the stuff in this video
5 years later and I still come back to see this. Pandemic I've got no clue where you are but I hope it's somewhere fantastic and nurtures this kind of beautiful artwork.
Holy crap that was amazing!! Don't even stress the little things it all came together in the narrative. I'd pay to see a fallout movie like this.
Jeff Y same :0
Tbh I didn't know alot of these lines were in the game.
That's because they are lines from when your followers hate you and decide to leave.
This is what the trailer for fallout 4 should have been. it has so much emotion to it and feels like it has a much better story attached to it than what we were given.
Josiah Lietze yeah it would have been if pandamic worked for them
Man, 3 years later and this is still one of the best pieces of content I've ever watched on youtube.
Venom "Punished" Survivor
Shit.... that was....powerful.
It was with the minute men
I don't think the main story is important here.
This felt so much like MGSV I love it, amazing job!!
VicW! I said the same before I read this comment

The Clan Banker but it's not game footages, it's animated
+teo38381 Everything in the video is in-game. I used Clean enb and a bunch of other landscape mods.
Bluepanda wait how the fuck can it be in game, those animations, the fight scenes etc.. how is that even possible?
The annotation that makes this happen is called
"StartAnimatedCamera.AnimObjectA".
The part where nick quotes poe gave me literal chills. This is the best thing I've seen in a while.
Especially since he says it when the BoS zeppelin comes. Just very dark
This is the game that Fallout 4 should have been. It shouldn't have been just some fruitless and detached mission to find your fictional son, but a real journey into something far more dangerous and soul-ripping than the radiated wastes of the Commonwealth: madness.
Dosko Take this to bethesda now. they can make it a fallout 4 remaster
ashton rhodes You don't know how this works.
excellent comment
Dosko When I play the game, I was sad. All this waste...
It's my opinion that they did make that game with FO4. For me, it's the dialogue and details to the stories that pull you in and make you think about what your character is experiencing. Even though you control how to respond, I tried to put myself in their shoes and make that response, which made the story even better.
I got so much MGS vibes from the camera angels and the story telling. This is so well edited. Goodjob
