So.. I heard in Italy, there are certain regions where "made for outlet" is against the law and punishable by a fine because they want consumers to have the legitimate expectation of getting products from previous collections. More specifically "The Mall" in Tuscany 🤔

No. It means they lure people into the brand at a lower, more affordable price point. If people then ‘buy into’ the brand they then tend to subsequently spend more on current season items from its prominent boutiques.
Because people buy luxury Brands to show off more so than they do for their quality. Yep. I realized this over a decade ago. Outlets were for unsold goods. But then stores were created to specifically sale the cheaper items, because outlets became popular. Any time something is mass produced like that the quality goes down. But the price somehow remains the same or increases.
I took a sociology class in college where they taught us all this. They said even the dollar stores do it. That’s why you’ll see, let’s say finish quantum 4 pack for $1.25. It could be something as simple as the stitch was supposed to be black but it’s blue or it was supposed to be a double stitch and it’s only 1. Most of it you don’t notice. I did, however once, get an Armani shirt where the left arm was longer than the right. I didn’t notice until I put it on and it was hanging over my hand. Those things are rare but it happens.
Thanks to this channel gor opening up my eyes to this. Bicester gets so overcrowded with customers that cone from all over. They are seriously being ripped off and laughed at by these fashion houses
There’s a reason why they have them overseas. It’s actually illegal in the US for them not to have it openly on the tag that it’s made for an outlet or if it’s true stock.
This is true for most outlets. Oftentimes the label tells it’s origin because the labels inside the garments will say the name of the store and then outlet. The quality’s always lesser. 😔
This is VERY true. But, if you love love love luxury, you may only have $500 to spend after years of saving and an outlet bag can bring years of happiness. Just another perspective! I also have had 1 or 2 good experiences, a Bottega snap bag and a Prada micro cahier in ostrich that's stunning but few and far between! Most do they come from the specific specialty stores. When I work at Ks I set them aside for customers that were nice to me 😅 I would let them know before putting them out. Be nice to all the sales associates if you’re into shopping luxury brands.
Saffiano leather is nothing special. All it means, is that the manufacturer used a pressed coating stamped over leather to make it more scratch resistant or worse… as a way to hide flaws in cheap or substandard hides. You can literally wipe it off with acetone. There is nothing high end about it. Just another way for designers to justify the ridiculous prices they charge. If you don’t believe me, research it for yourself.
The way he said "ask them because they cannot lie to you" reminds me of people in movies being like "a vampire cannot enter a home or building unless they are invited" lol like it's just some strange rule about the universe we live in.
I think this vary per country, like in the US, kate spade/coach got separate products for retail and outlet, but if you go to outlets in Japan, retail products are also sold in outlets, you're assured that they aren't inferior materials coz the Japanese are very strict in authenticity
Glad I don’t obsess over labels, I knew brands do this that is why it’s so much cheaper. Sometimes you may be lucky to get a piece from the actual store, I first noticed this years ago because I like to feel and examine materials and can tell quality right away.
“Very simple designs” don’t apply for all brands, though. Prada and Furla outlet items are aesthetically very similar cuz the boutiqurle items are already very simple. I have 2 Prada outlet bags, still from their strong tessuto nylon + saffiano. Prettier designs vs their smaller, simple re-edition baguette bags that are way way more expensive. Coach outlet bags are also good quality leather, just different hardwear, and no lazy designs. But Tory Burch and Gucci outlet stuff tho…They just make the most generic bags and slap on some logo buckle.
People didn't kno this? You're doing a service pointing this stuff out. Always ask. Coach outlet bags are not bad though. Just be prepared when you go, so you know what you are looking at.
Yes, I have bought from the Coach outlet stores and I love my products. I compared a quilted black wallet I bought there with the current model in the regular store. Both had the same quality hardware except that mine was gold with black leather instead of the more current gunmetal finish.
Agree, Coach Outlet stuff are good, no plain generic designs and quality wise they’re good. Same buttery zipper etc. Just lighter hardwear. US brand with bad outlet items is Tory Burch. Ugly plain generic leather bags with some logo buckle slapped on them.
Actually who did not know that before?😅😂 that’s what outlets do nowadays, not just the luxury brands but all of them. And no, there are not just products exclusively made for outlets but old slow moving articles - you‘ll never find a bestseller in an outlet
You’d be amazed. Some people get so angry and they find out nearly 90% of outlet products are made for outlet and we’re never sold at the rrp on the label. As if brands would open and run a store to sell at a loss!!😂😂😂😂
I figured out that Coach does this a few months ago. A lot of the stuff sold at their outlets were never for sale at their main store. However, I’m a bit basic and I tend to like the outlet stuff more.
Oh yeah, when I found out I was blown away. I know someone, and they told me their production essentially consist of two main groups. That being regular stuff and outlet items, crazy.
I worked for a store that did have an outlet which sold older merchandise. Said merchandise was usually so ugly that it felt like a crime selling it. I mean, this was the stuff we couldn't even sell for 70% off.
Designers have been making lower quality shoes for Nordstrom Rack for decades. A friend of mine and me figured this out and asked a sales person and she confirmed. It's deceitful and caused me lose all respect for the designers who were peddling such lies to us, making buyers think they got a deal when they didn't.
It's true what he says. I use to shop at outlets when you could purchase last years products that didn't sell and they need to make room for the new ones. That was like 30 years ago. Then I noticed about 20 years ago that these stores started making merchandise just for their outlet stores and they were definitely made with much cheaper products.
I work for a company that does this. It’s wild how many people don’t know, I try to tell customers about the difference as well. Also doesn’t make me look bad having someone go to a separate store mentioning you by name lol
the worst part is if its part of the “outlet line” and not the actual stock it temds to keep its value less than one from the actual store due to the fact they are made from cheaper materials i only know this because i bought a burberry bag two years ago which i assumed was full quality but turned put the material they used was slightly less expensive than their usual, so in the end i had the bag similar to one already on the market appraised and it turns out it has less resale value over the main line bag which i think is kinda sad and again it comes down to the fact of what material was used as to why its value depreciated
So I bought a bag from Gucci in a bright colour, I sat on it for a couple years. When I tried to sell it on the resale companies kept telling me it was a fake. If I had not gone to the store myself and paid for it myself, I would have taken the resellers word that it is fake but of course it is not.
Not only luxury brands are doing this, i have seen Nike and Underarmour "outlet exclusive" lines, that lack the desing and materials of their regular lines, i have seen knockoffs of those same brands with higher quality than their "outlet exclusive" ones.
People NEED to know this! My mom saved up and took me out to get a coach bag (yes I know that isn’t a great designer but leave me alone) so we went to an outlet and bought one. While the gesture was so nice, the purse itself is so fake feeling and not on brand other than the color and design.
I have a Prada backpack that I bought secondhand and was hesitant initially because of the difference in details. I had it authenticated was shocked that it came back as authentic. Now I know why. Thanks!
I wish I would have trusted my gut and left it because I paid a good amount for it due to it's unique beautiful burgundy color. I love it but I not a happy at the thought that I likely overpaid for it. Value is the most important thing for me when it comes to shopping secondhand.
the point is to sell to the customers who want the brand but cant afford it. they produce a cheaper version and sell it to them, simple. Their real customers aren’t shopping at outlets.
With Polo you used to be able to tell by the color or the horse. They used certain color horses (light blue, yellow etc) for the outlets and TJ Max/Marshall’s and then the stuff with the “Red” polo horse was actually from the Polo store. I don’t know if they still do that as Polo has really changed their designs in the last 10 years and now you’ll see them use different color horses on the designer stuff they sell on their website. But I know up until about 2010 that a Red horse meant it was high end and a light blue or yellow or some other fluorescent color horse meant it was from the outlet
They are different lines. Every brand makes a line for Good, Better, Best. The masses can afford the “Good” and that’s what sold at the outlets store. Most can’t afford the “Better” or “Best”, even on sale. I worked in Fashion for years.
Every one of these brands sold their trademarks to Asian conglomerates in the 90s and early 2000s. They are all now made on product lines which is why reps are easily accessible now, Due too many of the factories Just opening up a second for reps or have a family with another.

What’s the difference with the price on inferior materials? 5$ instead of 7.50$
Why is everyone forgetting that the Luxury market is a for-profit business as well! They need to sell more to make more and the rest is branding
It's sad, but true.
You always explain and tell really interesting facts about the fashion industry xxx 🙏
Thanks Tatjana! Glad you like xxx
the point is to sell to the customers who want the brand but cant afford it. they produce a cheaper version and sell it to them, simple.
Ahh that's super interesting thanks for sharing!!
The point in that is its still above a cheaper brand, still looks good, and not everyone has 1000s to throw around at an accessory
The accent gets me everytime liverpool😂😂
I asked after seeing this, and they were honest that the item from an outlet line. They didn't lie.
Told you 😉🥰
Buying an original fake bag is another level.of stupidity 😂😂😂
“Engineered Clearance” if your wondering. My wife has been a designer 20+ years.
ahhh thank you!
Ove always thought the outlet stores were selling knock off's, not made from the actual line
(“Can’t lie” is jokessss)
Which of these two plastic straps is better?
They are different lines. Every brand makes a line for Good, Better, Best.
The masses can afford the “Good” and that’s what sold at the outlets store.
Most can’t afford the “Better” or “Best”, even on sale. I worked in Fashion for years.
You know because the actual stores won't accept returns from outlet stores.
Most designers burn their unsold stuff to keep it elite!
sadly yes
Their ascent bro😅 . It's lovely
I've always thought outlet stores were BS.
I thought this was really well known now. The made for outlet stuff usually looks really cheap and tacky tbh or just really plain
Things bought in outlet stores cannot return/ exchange in actual stores too
Obviously! 🙄
That's what you get when your trying to impress with labels.
Every one of these brands sold their trademarks to Asian conglomerates in the 90s and early 2000s. They are all now made on product lines which is why reps are easily accessible now, Due too many of the factories Just opening up a second for reps or have a family with another.
This is true! That's why it's better if you buy at the actual store.
This is so wildly off topic for me that i think the algorithm disengaged with this suggestion
So you expected the same quality at an outlet price?
Best is to avoid expensive brands. There’s non branded quality clothing everywhere. Is just tacky to walk around with brand tags on worn on your body.
Thank you, to some it's common knowledge but a lot of tourists go out of their way to find outlets in the US/UK and don't know this.
I don’t agree. Went to moncler outlet saw same pieces as the normal store
They've been doing this for years, people didn't know this already? Almost all of the retailers at outlets do this.
Outlets normally sell the old years stock that's why it's cheaper
You are a gem!😇
