This was my late love's favorite song when we met. That was 12-31-77. We were together for 40 years., until 2017 when they passed away. Like the song says, It was them "Right Down The Line" ! I couldn't have been luckier. I wish I could do it all over again !
I can remember my best friends and I would go on these epic walks together back in the day and we always had a radio with us. This is one of the songs we all loved and we'd sing it altogether and pretend we were a famous all girl band. Best times of our lives.
You know I need your love You've got that hold over me Long as I've got your love You know that I'll never leave When I wanted you to share my life I had no doubt in my mind And it's been you, woman Right down the line [Verse 2] I know how much I lean on you Only you can see The changes that I've been through Have left a mark on me You've been as constant as a Northern Star The brightest light that shines It's been you, woman Right down the line [Chorus] I just wanna say this is my way Of telling you everything I could never say before Yeah this is my way of telling you That every day I'm loving you so much more [Verse 3] Cause you believed in me Through my darkest night Put something better inside of me You brought me into the light Threw away all those crazy dreams I put them all behind And it was you, woman Right down the line [Chorus] I just wanna say this is my way Of telling you everything I could never say before Yeah this is my way of telling you That every day I'm loving you so much more [Verse 3] Cause you believed in me Through my darkest night Put something better inside of me You brought me into the light Threw away all those crazy dreams I put them all behind And it was you, woman Right down the line [Chorus] I just wanna say this is my way Of telling you everything I could never say before Yeah this is my way of telling you That every day I'm loving you so much more [Verse 4] If I should doubt myself If I'm losing ground I won't turn to someone else They'd only let me down When I wanted you to share my life I had no doubt in my mind And it's been you, woman Right down the line

This song is another zinger, grandly remastered and vitalized by the one and only DJDiscoCat. I heard the short edition on my first favorite radio station, WTFM, until 1982. This edition is mine and hopefully the favorite of every listener. If this song is not the favorite of everyone who listens to it, I suggest they get with the program. That is where it is at!🎼🎸
Excellent, I’ve heard this track several times but what makes the track that much better and interesting, is your description. Wonder how many read the description? Thats the first thing I do. Didn’t know Gerry Rafferty knocked Saturday Night Fever off the No1 spot. TY DJDiscoCat. 🙏😊
Take a great song to begin with, add Disco Purrfection's magic and you get a song that's twice a masterpiece. This song takes me back to the innocent days of my youth when my parents were still alive. How do I miss those moments. Time like those do not return. Only tears remind us of them now and then.
I just looked up Gerry Rafferty again, because I remember also liking the fact that he never liked 'celebrity' in the music industry and was uncomfortable with that. He was more about the craft. I just learned that last week, Jan 4th, was the 12th anniversary of his death. I had no idea that sadly, he'd passed away (in 2011 of liver failure). 😞 RIP Gerry.
A beautiful love letter set to music, this track has since its release back in the day been (and will always be...) a favorite of mine. THANK You DJDiscoCat for this beautifully done remix!💕
Buenas noches desde España re deso un muy feliz y proxpero Año Nuevo 2023 , gracias por estas músicas tan bonitas que pones y el trabajo que tienes detrás, esta canción es Expectacular gracias 👍 Saludos 😊😌

Lovely song that just gets better over time, like fine wine. GR was so talented, but he had his demons. It's sad to read that he drank himself to death.
City to City is a splendid album, one of those rare ones where you can put it on and not skip one song. Every one is good. The B side to this, "Waiting for the Day," is also excellent and is the closing track on the album.
Para mi esta canción es algo así como una mezcla de nostalgia y esperanza. Nostalgia por un amor de juventud y esperanza por ese amor que es perfecto y todos queremos
Great music

I learned the words to this song while working as a cashier for CVS in the early 2000s .
One of the best of that decade.

You know I need your love
You've got that hold over me
Long as I've got your love
You know that I'll never leave
When I wanted you to share my life
I had no doubt in my mind
And it's been you, woman

[Verse 2]
I know how much I lean on you
Only you can see
The changes that I've been through
Have left a mark on me
You've been as constant as a Northern Star
The brightest light that shines
It's been you, woman
Right down the line
[Chorus]
I just wanna say this is my way
Of telling you everything
I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of telling you
That every day I'm loving you so much more
[Verse 3]
Cause you believed in me
Through my darkest night
Put something better inside of me
You brought me into the light
Threw away all those crazy dreams
I put them all behind
And it was you, woman
Right down the line
[Chorus]
I just wanna say this is my way
Of telling you everything
I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of telling you
That every day I'm loving you so much more

I just wanna say this is my way
Of telling you everything
I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of telling you
That every day I'm loving you so much more
[Verse 4]
If I should doubt myself
If I'm losing ground
I won't turn to someone else
They'd only let me down
When I wanted you to share my life
I had no doubt in my mind
And it's been you, woman
Right down the line

This is one of those songs that could have been a hit every year since it was first performed. Ageless, timeless, and ever relevant.
Discovered this song while navigating a long dirt road outside Moab, UT. What an experience.
There’s so much more to Gerry rafferty than most people know ..so many songs of perfection from a master of song.
