I cheer you on...much wishes to you of peace, love and happiness.
From a Maori who helps make traditional Maori ceremonial wear... Whoever makes those beautiful outfits is amazing. The rau (feathers)... LOOK AT THE RAU... HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SET THEM LIKE THAT!!! They move like wings wtf! Idols 🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️ Wow.

One thing I learned from the elders through videos on youtube of them "Learn to respect the earth, we are all strangers on this land" I will never forget that wisdom. Thank you Natives for your wonderful music, culture and traditions.

These same people also live in Canada just so you know. They have pow wows here. Most encourage outsiders to attend and experience who they are. Sharing culture is what they do and most elders are happy to share their knowledge and wisdom with anyone who wishes to learn in a respectful manor.
This is one of my all time favorite dances and I hope they never remove it. May it stay forever. The main dude in the video is amazing. I am enrolled Yankton Sioux and unfortunately they have lost their ways and I have seen none of this since mom was alive (2009). I miss it.
I cannot wait till Covid is over to be back with my people around the drum. The atmosphere is simply pure and the drum is soothing to the soul. I pray my ancestors are proud that we will forever keep our ways alive.
High quality dancing here! You can tell these fellas have hit the Red Road for many years! Title could be a little more specific to indicate that the "special" is a Sneak Up. You can tell by the drum beat and the story being told. Good to see traditions kept alive.
A "special" means that someone, i.e. dancer or committee, is sponsoring a particular contest. It doesn't mean which or what type of song is being sung.
Beautiful drumming, dancing and song! I am lucky to live in the city of Chief Sealth (aka Seattle). In this lifetime I am a white female although and I know in my heart I have been here before and of a tribal nation. I have always loved the Native American Wisdom, Culture and Art. I’ve gone to pow-wows and seen ancient petroglyphs where the Pacific Ocean greets the Washington state coastline. When I hear the drumming, it is more than that, I feel it in my heart, body and soul. I have been moved to tears on occasion when I can ‘feel the spirit’ of the music and chants and it reaches to a part of me, to a place within I cannot even describe. Thank You for sharing this amazing video.
Every time I hear voices singing at pow wow my eyes fill with thears... This is the most beautiful thing in the world... God bless Native American people and their religion and culture !
This man is one of the best. And there are many. It seems to me this type of dance is very difficult and takes alot of mental and spiritual fortitude. I love it. It does not look easy for sure.

They were the one who flattened the grass for the other dancers. There were also the rain dancers, whos dances were believed to bring on rain for the crops. There are a lot of other ones but I haven't bethered going to a pow wow since I was a kid.

But, some people are definitely waking up. They are getting involved in Aztec danza, temascal (sweat lodge), peyote ceremonies, getting their Aztec or Mayan horoscope (tonalamatl/Tzolkin).
