This is my frustration too. I don't wish to purchase all the tools, and take the learning curve, of hand cutting and building the mechanics, but am finding it difficult to locate a commercial solution for the wheel and crank device (I can create the final setting myself). I haven't yet even found commodity plastic or metal versions of flip wheels that I could repurpose, at all. Only rather expensive custom ordered versions (like the 'memoriboxx' and 'giphoscope' makers).
I can send a file for the center piece - it is covered by Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs creative commons license. You can take the file to a laser cutting service and have them made. It is designed for 100 pound card stock, so thicker or thinner paper will run into problems. Contact me at www.johnfadeff.com/

what are the measures of the parts of the mechanism? Thanks,
This is so incredibly cool!! Is there anywhere to buy the middle piece that holds all the pictures?
