Hey thanks for watching! Ive been updating the link for the discs as they are fluctuating into and out of stock. I’ll try to keep ontop of it! I just updated it so check it out!
@Len M. no but I have used the Sharkskin disc's and the rapid Shark skin were around 18 $ and I found the rapid grind for 1/3 the cost and they were the same trust me I can get you the Info if u would like to try them out ?
Wish I had watched this video ages ago. Bought a box of them and my goodness the difference is night and day. Way less vibration and noise and unbelievably faster material removal rate. Feels like using a flap disc instead of a traditional stone grinding disc. Lifetime is still not clear to me yet but first impression are seriously impressive! Thanks a bunch for sharing this, I will never use anything else ever again.
I couldn't believe the difference when I tried these for the first time... They've got a new version of these coming later this year too that is even faster... I got to test them recently, so good!
Man I’m so glad I saw this, and thanks for taking the time to showcase such a great product. As a blacksmith I go through discs like crazy and have searched far and low for a great disc like these and finally settled on ceramic flap discs but that’s gonna change now from watching this. I know Pferds quality having some of their Carbide burrs, and files, and they make the best modern made metal working tools I’ve found so far, shows how many tools they offer with these sitting under my nose the whole time.
Dude…. Those Victrograin are amazing. Saved my patience, hands, and time. They are money. I had one in my kit before watching this just to sample it out from my local weld supply. Tried it out and now I use it predominantly. Yes they’re pricey, but the time savings makes it way worth it. Also, I feel I can control it better. Thanks!
Never really considered that. Aluminum silicate and silicon carbide are two of the more common abrasives I’ve worked with. It’s probably a good idea to wear ppe when using any grinding disc in general.
I bought some and used it. The good thing about them is the size of dust is big and does not float in the air. Regular grinding discs cover every corner with black dust.
Thanks for that, most frustrating part of fabricating is too use a grinding disc that feels like it's just sliding over the steel after the first minute, you forgot to mention how much less heat is being generated
I mentioned the same thing in my comment. You can actually see the paint mark burning off which means that steel is smoking hot. One major downside of those crappy bonded hard stones is they cut like crap once the metal reaches a certain temp. That's a huge deal if you need to remove a lot of material.
Appreciate the time you spent making this video. I’ve seen you use this brand and other channels as well. I was not aware of these disc crushing the ones I use from the box stores that only care about large contracts and lowest prices to fill their shelves. I have permanent nerve damage so it’s really tough grinding with stone wheels. Thanks again !!
I am building a shipping container house and need to grind down some metal extruding parts, but find the grinding discs not efficient, so a search led me to this video -- so happy about its effieicncy and bought ten discs on Amazon right away. Will come back to comment about their performance soon. Thanks in advance.
Yah I got their stuff I like it. I got them to use instead of flap discs for Descaling. Flap discs suck so bad. There is no flap disc that can compare. They are worth the price.
I have tried every sort of cutting/grinding disc’s you can get. Everything from local and big box stores to amazon brands. Pferd is the best. It is night and day difference how much better Pferd disc’s are. The only problem is that nobody readily carries them here in the states, so you just have to plan ahead and order accordingly. The performance and durability of Pferd grinding and cutting disc’s are absolutely amazing. It’s not even close.
I like the idea of the non-vibration feature. I don't grind as much as I did 25 to 35 years ago but I know what you mean. I can only go so long and the vibration wears me out. I am going to try some of these. I have Pferd 9" regular disks. I like their brand but usually buy the cheap 4-1/2" or 5" disks. I need to look in to this. Thanks for the review.
I'm new at this, but wouldn't it have been faster to use either a hacksaw, recip saw with metal cutting blade, or a miter saw with a metal cutting blade to cut the round bar (and perhaps finish it off with grinding the edge smooth)?
Yes, absolutely, best option if applicable. However that wasn't the point of the test. The test was removal rate, round bar conveys that pretty easily. Realistically you would never do this if you had other cutting options (cutoff disk, bandsaw, or hacksaw.)
Hi Chris! I saw your videos about grinding disc, victo grain disc, flap disc and curved flap disc. Can i ask you which faster between regular grinding disc, victo grain disc, flap disc, and curved flap disc to remove weld seam? Thank you for your answer and have a great day!
I bought a couple and I will give them a try. I’ve been grinding on steel for over 40 years, now retired but still work at home on my personal projects. I will definitely put them to the test and see what happens 👍

Just noticed the white marker pen disappears off the metal when using regular discs compared to the first disc which means less heat in the metal with first disc = less stress to the metal
bought one of these discs online and WOW they eat steel like no other disc, they are INSANE!!! the only Con is that their life is about half of your traditional grinding disc like pearl or something like that. so they are more expensive and last half as long which puts them right at about 4 times more expensive, but as far as cleaning up metal, these are unmatched!
I don’t think these disks are the same price as regular disks. That being said I have some myself that I bought and I was absolutely blown away by the performance. Worth every extra penny over the regular ones. Especially the fact it doesn’t vibrate as much, really saves my hands. The shavings are also visibly different, much more stringy than the dust the normal ones produce. I still have a regular disk kicking around somewhere but I don’t think I’ll ever use that again.
Try out a Cubitron. They can be used just like any other grinding wheel, last a long time, and eat faster than the cheapos I used to use. I've never given thought to the vibration, but thinking back I think they're smoother running than the cheapos.
I don't get the short use vibration nerve problems. I've done it 30 min at a time, just stopping to replace the disk, with regular box store disks and never felt any different. Everyone's different I guess.
Wow... $8? I'll definitely try it for that. Not putting nearly as much heat into workpiece, more productive, AND lasts considerably longer (less downtime for replacement). That's a no-brainer.
Nice! Never heard of these before. One problem with the regular bonded hard discs is they stop cutting once the metal starts heating up if you need to remove a bunch of metal. You can see this by looking at the paint pen mark burning off and not with the other style discs.
Can you do a review about the pferd combiclick system it seems super practical with the quick change and the types of abrasives that come in the kit could cover many different tasks
Well that is all fine and well, but where do you buy them? Your reference to Amazon only takes me to Google video quality report, and when I go to Amazon, I can't see where they offer them. These disks must cost close to what I am paying now, and they must be available... somewhere!
im in US...Chicago land area, we use 6 inch Metabo or Dewault...or 4 inch grinders.....which seems to be common for us....4.5 and 7..really......am i missing something with the sizing here.
I had the same revelation when I tried Cubitron discs for the first time. You quickly realize what utter garbage the HF discs are, and how 'stone age' typical discs are. I'll definitely be trying out some of these. Would be cool to see a comparison of these to other structured discs. They still do seem like an awesome value. I mounted a 4 1/2 grinder in a vise (eye-bolt into handle threaded hole, and remote switch), and put a cubitron disc on it. It's the best darn rapid bench grinder I've used yet. Think I'll build a mount for it to free up the vise.

I sharpened our Fecon Blackhawk mulcher head on a 2021 cat 299 d3 skidsteer. The mulcher head has hardened steel for the teeth. You are absolutely right these are 4X faster than any traditional grinding discs. The teeth sharpened extremely quick without getting too hot. I will never go back to old school grinding discs. Pferd makes the best chainsaw files and grinding discs by far.
I like the PFERD 61215 they last even longer than the grey. I was able to pick up my last 10 pack on sale for $65, they are usually $95. Now they just need them in x-lock.
The Pherd disks are awesome. I would recommend giving the 3m Cubitron 36g sanding disks a try. Thats about all I use anymore. you need a cheap backing pad for them, The walter cool backers are nice.
If you're continually grinding, for instance in a foundry, then fair enough but most guys use a grinder for a minute or two at a time. Most decent manufacturers have an equivalent ceramic abrasive wheel - Tyrolit Cerabond, 3M Cubitron, Norton SG so Pferd are not unique.
Sadly, I felt the same with grinding discs, I used to use them to grind edge bevels into mild steel sword and axe blanks for props- after about a week, I instead resorted to 40 grit flap discs, which cut down the vibration, but don't eat away as fast and have a much, much shorter lifespan. Glad to see there's a good alternative, one 8 dollar disc could outlast both of those things and spare my hands, I'd like to see how this compares to a 40 grit metal grinding flap disc.
I really liked these, however they do cost slightly more for it to wear out pretty quick. When they're new they're the best thing in existence.. for maybe 20 or 30 minutes grind time.
While they are obviously useless at getting into any kind of corner, these disc's certainly kick ass at surface removal. You should do a disc roundup video showing all the typical angle grinder processes & Ur recommended abrasive/cutter disc for each (mill scale removal, surface polishing, cutting...). U probably have most of the video already, just need to splice & narrate. Thx

Pferd makes the best chainsaw files and grinding discs by far.
Thank you for your test.....fantastic information
I like the PFERD 61215 they last even longer than the grey. I was able to pick up my last 10 pack on sale for $65, they are usually $95. Now they just need them in x-lock.
Can you cut with the Victorian?
Holy crap! This is crazy fast! Thanks for the heads up!
Very funky, a new cold grinding. In the real world your steel will get real hot.
Thanks, just used your aff link for a 10 spot.
The Pherd disks are awesome. I would recommend giving the 3m Cubitron 36g sanding disks a try. Thats about all I use anymore. you need a cheap backing pad for them, The walter cool backers are nice.
Definitely going to switch to the PFERD Victograin, thanks bud
Have you ever used cubritronn2 by 3m? Personally I've never used victoriana but I am amazed at how fast 3m disc can remove materials
Yesss cubitrons are sooo good
These hands down out perform the Cubitron. They also make far less dust as the 3M disc wears down quickly. I won’t go back.
Where can I find these in Canada?
Sadly, I felt the same with grinding discs, I used to use them to grind edge bevels into mild steel sword and axe blanks for props- after about a week, I instead resorted to 40 grit flap discs, which cut down the vibration, but don't eat away as fast and have a much, much shorter lifespan. Glad to see there's a good alternative, one 8 dollar disc could outlast both of those things and spare my hands, I'd like to see how this compares to a 40 grit metal grinding flap disc.
I really liked these, however they do cost slightly more for it to wear out pretty quick. When they're new they're the best thing in existence.. for maybe 20 or 30 minutes grind time.
those discs are awesome. Def gotta get some. Thanks!
Holy shit balls. Thats a massive difference. I need me some of these discs!!
To be fair, youre just using the tip when using the regular disk, however the new one does seem better.
Thx
Anyone know if these are the same as the CC-Grind by Pferd?
If you have not try it yet, try 3M cubitrron or Walter Excavater
That 3M is no joke. I’m going to order some of these and give em a try though.
