I have found this "magic" sand in clam shells where it looks like a purple-blue held within the shell - the parts of it which was known as "wampum" to the local Native Americans!!! Love the video. Thanks.

@DriverSteve Yes, it is pretty common at most beaches but this beach is the only one that I know of that has magnetite in this quantity.

Not iron fillings. Magnetite is an iron ore that must be smelted and refined in order to make iron.

Yes it works with sand other than beach sand as well, it doesn’t really work with dirt.
