Pierce is also an accomplished artist with gallery showings in LA as well as his home in Hawaii. Too bad you didn’t mention that other artistic side either. The man is gifted, gorgeous and genius to have risen from such an abandoned family to find love twice in his life and to have created such a loving family. His other son needed a little “tough love”. That son chose to take gifts given to him and self implode over great personal sadness. Pierce might not have seen his parent and sibling die early but he suffered just as much immeasurable loss having two parents who walked away from him and he struggled to find success. It is heartbreaking when a child loses their way but I am sure Pierce had shown him the toughest love there is-a father who tried so hard to help him and then had to make a tough call to let his son fall, pick himself up by not always rescuing him, and to let this son grow up so that one day, perhaps this son might return back to the family a drug free, clean, sober man who hit rock bottom but finally realized that he needed to find his own path to recovery first and then perhaps the future healing of coming back might be accomplished. My prayers are for his son to find that peace and help. My prayers are also to Pierce for it is a courageous thing to have that kind of personal strength to let go and trust in the process of “tough love”. It’s not an easy thing for a parent to do but enabling any family member with addictive tendencies just prolongs that child’s suffering and pain and keeps them in a weakened state where they feel like they have no control over their lives. Pierce was brave to hand his son the control and choice to hopefully see there is a light at the end but also to give that control back to his son to hopefully trust he would make better life choices.
