@Arnaldo DeSoutereiro: How much did Bonfa play after his last album ("The Bonfa Magic" in 1991)? I have heard that for him, 1990-2000 was a decade of physical deterioration.
@@ivandrago8226 Besides being a genius as a guitarist and composer, he was also a gentleman. The kindest musician, the best and most generous human being, and the most sophisticated "creator" I have ever worked with. At the same time, a very simple person, very affable, soft-spoken and shy. That was a terrific combination and made many people fell in love with him. Among them, actresses Ava Gardner, Karen Black and Lea Masari. His second wife, singer Maria Helena Toledo, also was a gorgeous woman.
Oh...I also saw "O Mito" in San Francisco in 2004 and Tapajos in Brasilia in 1977......great shows. Met Mestre Gamela too. In Seattle in 1968-9 I went to recital by AC B-Lima
It was funny. Imagine in L.A. lokking in a phone book and it says F. SINATRA.......yeah, sure!!! I did that, in Rio and it said L. Bonfa I called and it was ''him". We talked and he invited me over a few days later, Maria Toledo was there, he showed me his Gianini craviola, his De Souto and Di Giorgio guitars, and I played them. He showed me a few tricks of how he gets brush strokes and a few other things....what a great evening!!!!! Was there about 5 hours...and he played a song for me he was working on.....do not remember what that was prior to it being recorded.
@@artwilliams4144 wow! that’s amazing! How lucky you must’ve been, and it seems like he was a real genuine guy. Do you think that if you found someone’s number like that today you’d have the same outcome or a “who are you?” from the receiver? I feel like something like that wouldn’t happen in today’s world lol
@@_jmv Today's world...yes....that would not happen. He was polite and nice guest.....and Mria made coffee and pastries. I play about 35 of his songs.......my YT went kaput so this is a new one.....the old one....type in LUIZ BONFA BILL DEE that email does not work
The original song has been selected to be part of the podcast les petites oreilles de Baboucan, an amazing selection of music gems and you can find it here : ua-cam.com/video/4WXu4t-ZyVM/v-deo.html Hope you’ll enjoy and thanks for being amazing !
Sublime. Had the honor to work with him for over 20 years, having produced his last three albums.
