Your summary is perfect. Expectations are so low for Qantas if you get away without everything including the crew being too horrible then it has been a good flight. Food Ugh. I assume the senior execs never even look at other airlines products.
You don't fly QF for the food. Or the... anything, really. You only fly QF if you have no other option or someone else is paying for you. And even then, you'd ask them very firmly to go with SQ.
Why , oh why has Qantas allowed to let its presentation slip as much as experienced Qantas frequent flyers can attest. Ground staff at maximum pressure times ( school holidays at all Australian terminals) have been magnificent. Lounges ( business and first around the world) measure up, but barely compared with the Middle Eastern airlines. The food presentation on planes, despite the hype is barely adequate. Neil Perry menues continue to disappoint and like the departure of the old CEO needs to be replaced with an outlet that can make our unique multicultural food SHINE. Staff around the world have been beacons of generosity, but many clearly are passed their due date. As a FF with P status it breaks your heart to see the brand plummet almost by design. Someone talk to the board, CEO and senior management before we , the QFFs abandon the company.

Compare this one to my recent Middle Eastern airline experiences really puts Qantas down. Unfortunately being a long time QFF, I'm stuck to renew or lose it all. What can we do 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
What a truly awful airline. I stopped watching at the end of the food service. It's really a second rate experience compared to the competition. Why would anyone pay to fly with Qantas on that route?

It's pretty good. Sufficient width but the thing with these ones is the narrow footwell that's uncomfortable and feeling a bit stuck.
